mob rule!!! Automatically Appended Next Post: i'm a greenskin player and must admit when versing my friend I gak all over him(meaning i win 75% draw 15% tactically fallback 10%) da poor sole plays imperial guards and i dominate with me ORKY army but now he's recently started collecting greyknights. we've played 1 game and as expected with orks i won, but now he currently added 2 dreadknights, HOW DO I DEFEAT A T6 MONSTER SLAYER THAT HAS A STUPID 2+ SAVE AND WIILL STRIKE FIRST WITH S10 POWER WEAPONS

But seriously, just avoid it. Ghazzy can punch it out on his Waagh, cause Ghazzy is Ghazzy. My recommendation is find something cheap to tie it up with while you go around killing the rest of his army. Who cares if you lose a mob against the Dreadknight? Your orks. There's mroe where that came from.

I... uh.... just shoot at it. Usual Quantity over Quality see it lose a wound or two, then I assault it with a mob to finish it off with quantity of attacks in close combat.
Dreadnight's close combat attacks, though they will certainly kill off an ork or two, aren't high enough in quantity to make me actually worry about mobbing it.
And, as mentioned above, you tie it up while the rest of your boyz are charging forward.

So tag it with some Lootas as mentioned, and then assault it with a mob of boyz. They probably wont do anything, MAYBE score a failed wound on it on the charge, but that PK Nob will certainly make it feel some pain. I dunno how many wounds those things have, but Id probably send a boyz mob at it and make it go away

but in seriousness lootas will wreck most monstrous creatures. boyz mobs can tie it down, but only do it with a few wounds lef ton them
side note don't charge them with nobz, failed wounds will cause instant death so wound shananagins and fnp won't apply unfortunatly.

The same reason I tell people with PF in their units, to charge my nobz, because they will be more useful then punching a boy to death. Nobz are a great unit, but they do have a glaring weakness to PK/ DCCW

It's a dreadnought that your normal boyz are able to wound. You have more to fear from ironclad dreadnoughts, to be honest.
Throw a maxed-out mob at it and they'll grind it down in, say, 3 close combat phases. You'll lose about a third of the mob is reply, but that is a trade well worth making.
Do not engage it with your nobz or kanz unless you don't have a choice.

I wouldn't chuck a 30 boy mob at it. Not that they wouldn't do the job, they would. Effectively, too.
You could just do the same job for cheaper, with less casualties with a gretchin mob.
I'd tag it with lootas like others have suggested, and assault it with a 30 gretchin mob with one of the runtherds upgraded to having a grot prod. Always wounds on a 4+, negating the Dreadknight's toughness. The other two runtherds with grabba sticks would reduce it to 2 attacks a turn IIRC. Worse case scenario, it'll drop 2 gretchins a turn, taking it out of combat for effectively the entire game unless something comes along to help break it out of the tarpit. Not only that, but with the runtherd wounding it on a 4+, you might get lucky and kill it after a few rounds. Assuming it took a couple of wounds from Lootas prior. Either way, the dreadknight ceases to be a factor for the rest of the game, freeing up your boys to do whatever they want.

@Everyone advocating gretchin
Keep in mind that gretchin aren't fearless, and the runt herders have average leadership. If the dreadknight kills only 1, then you're still taking a leadership 6 morale test. Granted it's rerollable (though even that will cost you d3 grotz), but there is a significant chance that you're going to lose ALL 30 grots to a sweeping advance.

rutherds have mob rule though so as long as the mob is over 10 and even one ruth is still alive they are fearless, that's my understanding anyway and how me and the people at my shot have been playing it. if you say take 30 gretchin with 3 ruths and lose all 3 ruths and still have 30 gretchin then they'd lose mob rule but that's why you take wounds on gretchin first

Runtherders don't have mob rule, read the FAQ.
A unit of 20 boyz will easily take down a dreadknight after a couple of turns in CC due to the nob's PK. And he can't kill that much of you in return.

A mob of boys will kill it. The nobs pklaw wounds it on a 2+, and it only gets a 5+ invo making it no better than a deamon prince when it comes to the nobs claw. It is going to squish a few boys before the nob gets it, but it is only squishing 6 point boys. A dozen or so boys is a fair trade for a 150 to 200 point dk, depending on how crazy the gk player gets with upgrades.

Problem is throwing boyz at it will mean they will be counter charged by something nasty like purifiers and lose 40% of their models to cleansing flame.
Best thing is to shoot the damn thing with lootas and big shootas.

Perhaps you're right (though I'd rather shoot the purifiers). I have often seen the dreadknights using personal teleporters haring off on their own. Seems like they might be kinda vulnerable unless the GK players is VERY conservative.

It should be noted that Dreadknights will only ever strike at S6, as per the Grey Knights FAQ, and therefore you have no concern about it instant-deathing Nobz. Just shoot the piss out of it for a round or 2 and then charge a boyz mob into it.

actually the dreadknight hammer still gives you the S10 attacks. the FAQ just states that the doom fist hits at S6 because its not a dreadnought.

I could be wrong but I think kustom Mega blasters might be an option. You can put them on killa Kans, deffkoptas, and you can have like 3 in a loota squad. They're ap2 I believe which makes them ideal for killing paladins as well.

The dk is not going to hammerhand or dark excommunication against t4 orks which means it is free to activate force weapons. Try not to allocate wounds to a nob.
Also don't bother to shoot a t6 dk with a 2+ save as long as purifiers are alive.

Even if they had, they wouldn't benefit from it. Mob rule counts the number of orks in the unit, gretchin are not orks.

A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.

Vs 3 grabin stick he only get what one attack so the odds of causing a single wound and getting them to run is only 19% ( 4/6 5/6 21/36 21/36 ) ... While 1/5 is quite high the point is not to beat him but merely delay him till you've dealt with the bigger threats.
