It went live yesterday, but I forgot to post it
Contents:
Dawn of War® II: Retribution™ Collector’s Edition will give the most dedicated Warhammer® 40,000® fan access to all of the available bonus wargear for each of the six playable races in the game. It also includes an exclusive poster, six race art cards and a high-quality collector’s box.
I'm not familiar with the THQ store, so I thought I'd ask here. If I pre-order it from them, will I be able to choose which special pre-order equipment I want? Similar to Steams set-up.
For which edition?
The Collector's Edition, no matter what, contains all six of the races' wargear.
Otherwise, barring the Ork wargear(which is a Steam exclusive), you can choose which one you want yes.
Any clue if the Collector's Edition will be available on brick and mortar stores (like Best buy) ?
Don't know. The wording I've seen implies it's only available via the THQ webstore.

Collector's edition really isn't doing it for me. If it was an actual artbook instead of 6 pictures of in-game assets I might pick it up, but I really have no interest in it if all it does is give me extra wargear I don't care about. The poster doesn't look great either.
I'm still hyped as hell for the game itself, but the collector's edition disappoints me.

Well, considering wargear is only usable in campaigns...the collector's edition comes out ahead no matter what, providing you're not just buying the game for MP.
$10 more to get all six races' wargear? Yeah. That's worth it.

If you go to the website and follow the links, it says a number of places that it will be available - Play.com, for instance.

Why the heck is it $60 - honestly... chaos rising was only $30 and retribution doesn't have enough new features (unless its got more last stand maps, more MP features - 6 completely different campaign stories then if it does i take back my statement) for it to double in pricing.

It has the 6 campaigns, as for improved MP it won't have WL anymore so that's great, not really sure on new last stand maps though.

If they sold the Collector's edition through steam, I would buy it, but as it stands I really am only going to buy the normal preorder.
Also, SM got the short stick when it comes to pre-order war gear. Their stuff SUCKS. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, anyone think it is weird that Orks got the steam exclusive? Guard would have been the better choice, as no-one is used to playing them yet, but orks is just odd. Automatically Appended Next Post: And, if I were to buy the collectors edition, do I just link it to my steam account, or is it separate?

I hate DOW. The game is good, but now I've got DOW2, DOW2 CR, and now I have to go and get DOW2 R?!
"Players of DOW2 and DOW2 CR will be able to play"...
yeah- play with people who have it. We don't get extra races, campaigns or anything. Instead of releasing a new peice to a game, they should just run updates for the cost of DOWW CR minus the cost of DOW2, so it'd be like a £10 update.
My two pence.

What would be the point of that, saleswise?

...meh.
I'm just fed up of spending £30 for another game that will be beaten by another one 6 months later, which is basically the same but with a few extra races.

Yeah they are.
Seriously though, I know I'm whining and I won't but it unless it has GK in it, but why bother making 3 games, each with slightly more stuff than the other in the space a year and a bit?

6 Campaigns , New Gameplay and new units plus Steam multiplayer is well worth the Price. The Fact every race has new Characters and a Campaign is the main reason im buying it.

I'm fairly certain that they didn't make it "in the space of a year and a bit". We're not talking about Activision and the Call of Duty games here, or even the model that Starcraft II is aiming for.
As for why they add "slightly more stuff"...
Um, I don't think I should have to explain this to you.
Would you buy a new Dawn of War game if it only added a single unit? No. You wouldn't.

Anyway any ideas on what the unit list for IG will look like? We have a T1 vehicle which is probably a Chimera. Vanilla guardsmen are probably T1 as well as the Catachan Devils, which are melee units I guess. I would also imagine HWT's being T1 since everyone gets their suppression right off the bat. Then Kasyrkin/Stormtroopers at T2 along with Basilisks maybe. Finally the Leman Russ at T3. I also hope we can change around the vehicle configurations some. Edit: I also second the more Necronz movement!

They have guardsmen, commissars, Catachan Devils, sentinels, Leman Russes, Baneblades, and Manticores have been mentioned in some previews, but not yet shown. It's safe to assume they have a heavy weapons team for suppression, and a Chimera for transport. Guessing sentinels are their T1 vehicle, with Baneblades certainly being T3.
