Chenkov is looking great! Real nice work

I have given in to the inevitable, and paid someone to paint some of my minis. He used to work for GW, and one of his figures was on a WD cover.

While painting relaxes me, I have been plagued by health problems which keep me from sitting down for long periods of time.

He didn't charge much, which is the only reason I could afford it, and I do need to correct a couple things, but he did a great job. So far, it's only 25 of my Valhallans, but he'll be doing more. I'll have pictures when I get these finished and based. I plan to concentrate on my Imperial Fists while he helps with these.

Looking forward to some pictures.

38 Valhallans to base or rebase. 25 new ones painted by a friend and 18 old, old ones I painted years ago. I'm not doing much to the old ones except rebasing them, but they don't have anywhere near the depth that the new ones do. Even the new ones I painted.

I recently rebated some old minis. It seemed to bend space time in that it felt like it took ages, but didn't actually take too long.

I purchased this model off eBay today.



It took a while to find it and had to get help from the Penny Arcade forums, but he is replacing an older Imperial Fist sergeant model I used to have (still have) which does not fit in with the current range of models.



I'm starting to think I have way too many character models with power fists. I know they're the Imperial Fists, but, come on...

I love getting things in the mail. He's going to be a squad leader.

Only thing is, he suffers from the same illness a lot of metal models had, in that he's kind of flattened. The plastic models look more 3d than this.

In other news, I am aaaallllllmost done basing these 13 old Valhallans and the 25 new ones. Pics soon, then I'm going back to Fists.

I've started working on some things again. I've gotten a bit done on my captain, but I wanted to really finish my chaplain.

I've recently found out I can paint at work, and surprisingly, since I work nights and on the weekends, I have fewer interruptions than I do at home.

So last night I worked on this:

More or less done. I have one thing to correct at the top of the fist symbol on the shoulder pad, but pretty close.

Finished another one. Sort of. I am trying to decide what to do about back banners. I still have one intact one, and two brokenmones, and they're just too finicky to keep I think.

I finished my captain. I've only had him assembled for 2-3 years.

I have a very messy process, which I constantly refine, or just mismanagement the steps of. Usually, I start by priming white, then air brushing Averland Sunset on as a basecoat. Then I wash in Devlin Mud or now Nuln Oil.



Then I dry brush on more Averland Sunset to bring it back, and avoid the recesses.



Then I apply a second dry brush of Averland Sunset. After that, I do the same with Yriel Yellow, then wash in Lamenters Glaze.



After that, I start going to town on the details.

I'm getting there. Being able to paint at work, with 12 hours three nights a week with not much else to do has led to some progress.

Almost done. I have to gloss coat them, then apply decals, apply dullcote, then add static grass.

Chaplain was nicely done! and that you made the yellow work so well, hats off!

Great progress there mate. And I agree, chaplain is suitably terrifying

I've applied decals, but I'm using a ton on Microsol on them. I've had one out of twelve Fist emblems that doesn't have creases. And the Microsol doesn't seem to be dissolving them much.

Not to mention that the GW space marine transfer sheet doesn't have black tactical arrows for shoulder pads and the Forge World one for the Fists only has 20.

Imperial Fists are looking good. Dorn would be pleased.
