Hey bud, lovely lovely stuff. SUPER cool chapter as well, cannot wait to see this finished. TRULY, dont stress about those rules and all that ish, just get a good buddy to hang and play with and play practice games that illuminate rules. Shoot ive found the best way to learn new games is just ot have friends teach you, and visit the rule book later! Either way, youll soon be enjoying your models on the table top!. The eldar walker looks huge, cant wait to see what you do with this. ALL that lovely damo red is going be very very attractive at the end of the day! As per dakka being quiet....i dunno, ive always thought it to be a little quiet after my initial experience with it back in 2010/11. Alot of the guys very active in the blog seem to not be around as much. Or maybe its me. If youre not already, get on instagram! your models are going to reach alot more people there and since its mainly JUST photos, your whole feed, if you want it to be, will be all bad ass mini photos of your favorite painters. Thanks Theo i've some more wip on that Eldar model for you to peruse mate! and a little on the Nurgle dudes. I got the reds done on the Eldar arms am i'm trying to decide how to paint the details and gun? shall I attempt to paint every gem as a gem? I think it'll look good but I'd have to watch how I shaded them all to match up with his pose?






and a little on the Nurgle guys, just did some green on the shoulders, washed the feet with Typhus and dirtied up the scythes, it makes a big difference t the overall look and some recess washes and highlights should get them near done.

I feel you on the quiet front Damo, sometimes it feels like i'm shouting into the void when I update my blog. I don't think it's true ultimately, though. My views, though I tend not to really track that on the blog, assuredly go up and a bunch of people are still in touch, so it's inspiring all the same!
The wraithknight looks killer. You've struck a really cool and simple pose on it too and your paintwork applies really well on a big scale as well as a small! Keep up the good work, you're putting out stuff real fast.

Dakka is always quiet on my page ! Perhaps it’s people are actually painting instead of looking at your painting ?

Anyhow , that elder robot thing is gonna be very impressive matey ! You have beautiful smooth colour transitions I’d struggle with, even with an airbrush !

Thanks guys, i'm sure it's swings and roundabouts and to be honest it's not going to stop me posting when I can and I have something to show you guys! I try and jump in when I can on blogs I follow but sometimes (a lot) recently i'm pressed with time :-(

I am enjoying the Wraithknight though, he's going to look pretty impressive when he's done I hope, still not sure about how many gems to paint? he won't be done for a while though as i'm waiting on a bunch of work to land on my door to paint up! 3 different commissions :-)

I wouldn’t get bummed by a lack of responses. Like ldp said, lots of times people just want to look. I often don’t comment unless I have some sort of feedback.

Another reason for the quiet I feel I saw that at least here in the Midwest of the USA spring has just sprung and we had our first decent weekend in ages. I planted a tree yesterday and we did yard work. Lots of people I know got outside and enjoyed the spring weather and outdoors. Just a bit of perspective as you guys are probably entering fall in the land of drop bears and wrong directional swirling toilets .

Lol yes we are heading into autumn here so if you guys are having no snow for a change then I won't hold it against you for not being on Dakka i'd be doing that sort of stuff myself if I had the nice weather (not that it's 'bad' down here though)

Salvage thanks man, I love seeing the pics side by side even at that stage! seeing the idea and random pile of bits actually look like a model is really cool and he'll get some more love soon!

Lovely work on the Eldar bits, and the nurgle chaps.

I don't think every bump has to be a gem on the Eldar. Sometimes it can look a bit too much for every one to be gems.
Maybe start with the few that definitely have to be gems (in your mind), one in each cluster or section of armour, and see how it looks, do a few more until you reach a point where more would be too much... Or search online to see examples of each extreme to decide where you want to fall.

DDakka does have quite a variation in "active" traffic. I've yet to spot a foolproof pattern in any time range, and I have tried to experiment with posting at different times of different days.
I've resigned myself to broadcasting whenever I'm ready and eventually getting replies whenever they occur.

Some amazing progress recently. The Wraith Knight is shaping really well. Can't wait to see the finished result.

The Nurgle Terminators are really unique. They may have been fast, but they certainly look eye catching.

I will second the Doc, if the bubble looks right as a gem, do it, but I wouldn't feel compelled to do them all , in fact it might look overdone if you do.

Try an hour or so on the tinter web, it might show some options.

Holy hell that shading, do you use like... a single fly hair to paint that stuff? Dang dude.

Gorgeous brush work as ever - the red transitions on the big Eldar dude is particularly impressive.
Don't worry about lack of comments, personally I've struggled to leave lots of comments recently - I'm perusing DD most days, but just struggle to put actual words down at times... On my own threads, I tend to watch the 'views' more then comments to check if there's interest in what I'm doing...

I'll also add in to the picture question - my preferred is the DD gallery, although for other images I now use imgur, seems to be a pretty stable, reliable host, plus it's still free...

Anyway, just keep posting and your readers will appreciate your work, even they don't always say as much

The nurgle dudes are fantastic for a quick job, but what did I expect

Eldar stuff all looks spot on...I'll weigh in with the others and say not all are gems, so a few see how it looks.

I have some finished and some WIP today I finished a trio of Wraithlords for a local guy, he wanted a nice clean bone scheme to do over a whole heap of models I also have some work in progress on the Wraithknight arms, a different take on Garro and a bit of robe work on the HG Captain


I'll start with the finished stuff first, Wraithlords! Zhandri dust primer with reikland fleshshade around nodes and in recesses then highlighted with Ushabti Bone, the dark colour is black mixed with silver.





What else has been languishing on my desk? my Wraithknight arms, I decided to go all out on the gems and paint all of them and also started the Suncannon, taking a slightly different approach I feel i've taken a more mature approach to this model and i've held myself back and taken a little more time to get it right. wanting the focal point of the model to be the centre I painted the base of the cannon barrel blended into the brightest instead of the normal look of the muzzle to keep your eye in the right spot when his arms are on.



and the gems.



I also was asked to paint a model of Nathaniel Garro but the client wanted a purple and glowing scheme with crimson and greens worked in as well as done in nmm and this he tells me after I'd already started the normal scheme *sigh* especially since i've not painted nmm before and don't use an airbrush I thought i'd have a go at just doing a high contrast armour and it looks pretty good so far.



and lastly my Howling Griffons Captain, i've been working on his robes today. still a heap to do but he's a nice model and looks sweeeeet!

Cracking indeed. That suncannon is to die (or be killed) for! From the earliest stages of your blogs I loved your gem work and its characteristically incredible here. Very well done indeed.

Nerdy! Really outstanding stuff, as always. I love how you've painted the Wraithlords, looks really easy and effective. The Saim-han Wrathknight is gorgeous so far. The nmm Garro looks great in my opinion, and the HG Captain is excellent!
