Thank you youwashock and Ezki,

So a very minor project...finishing some more alternative Heavy Weapons for the Support Platforms/War Walkers.

When I first started painting these I lamented that they were all slightly different that those I already had. Also, the two Missile Launchers were different in this batch... Then I thought about the lore and how the Alderi Empire had spanned a portion of the galaxy, and Eldar were masters of craftsmanship, so why wouldn't many of the weapons be unique.

With most of them mounted on War Walkers with similar (but still different) weapons.

The long painting war continues...

Wow those are gorgeous, the blue black looks great! I also use the older metal warwalkers but mine look quite dull in comparison, you've inspired me to repaint mine in the future!

Lovely and classic. I totally can get behind the weapons being aesthetically different but functionally identical.

Wow, METAL warwalkers. Now that's old school. They look great, Captain Brown. These remind me of a time when I actually played the game on the regular, instead of just building up to do it all the time.

Nice stuff! I had 2 of these old metal war walkers and I hated them with a passion, no super glue could hold them for long..

Lovely work as usual.

I have some of those old warwalker too and for me they are what eldar walkers should look like. You have really got a great color scheme going on with them, when was the last time we had a picture of the army together (hint hint).

Great work on the warwalkers! And funny how people today seem to always poke fun at todays walkers or warsuits from other armies when the old ones had more or less the same concept.

Those are some classic minis. I’m impressed that you managed to have the patience to put 3 of them together! The magnetised weapons work pretty well with them too, and I definitely see the Eldar having crafted unique weapons

I think they war walkers just look goofy. They're well painted, but very impractical. It's like the robots are using the pilots for meat shields. Or the robots are the parents and the pilots are the babies.

Each to their own ShadowsAndDust, I always thought that the weirdness of the model was what made it so different when I first saw it decades ago. Logically, like you said it makes no sense...but then again a lot of 40K makes no sense.

Thank you,

CB

I never knew that the grey knights stole the idea for the baby carriers from the Eldar . I remember the model now, just you rarely see anything besides Space marines and seeing older xenos really brings back some good memories of 2nd edition.

Great paint work by the way

Thank you Theophony.

Now this next model was more of an experiment...it came to me in a pile of Eldar scrap bits.
Spoiler:

So I had to add a hand, a base, and the end of the Glaive.

I repaired it because I wanted to see how it would fit next to my classic metal if I wanted to be absolutely WYSIWYG. So repaired and painted.

Hand came from a ruined plastic Jetbike rider, Glaive blade was made from a plastic power sword.

Thoughts?

Looks absolutely fantastic, such a great contrast of colours with the Alaitoc scheme and you nailed it.

Out of interest do you do a blue wash over your white?

Honestly, as an Old Skool Guy, that looks like a great conversion from the 90's 'Eavy Metal team. Great job!

looks spot on. Great job. Size against the metal avengers would be my only concern but then he looks to be an exarch so a bit bigger and more buffed isn’t going to hurt much. And those metal avengers are amongst my all time favs so fitting in as a suitable leader for them is a feat to be proud of.

Olthannon wrote:Out of interest do you do a blue wash over your white?

Thank you Olthannon,
He is a little taller and has thinner legs...but since the Exarch is the odd model in the unit it works just fine.
Maharg wrote:Nice rescue of that Avenger, he looks great. How does the size match with the older models?

Thanks Maharg,
Not to bad...I am a little more concerned with the three other plastic Dire Avengers I built from cast offs with Avenger Shuriken Catapaults...as the plastics are much longer than the original metal ones.

Exactly my thoughts on the size difference.
tzurk wrote:Plastic??? In a CB thread? Unreal...

Thanks tzurk, very strange isn't it?

OK a couple of upcoming projects because I could not resist a couple of eBay auctions. (Bad Captain Brown, feel shame, adding more metal models you will likely never field) Well the Wraith Guard might see the field as I have found them one of the few units that can hold ground in the Eldar list.
Spoiler:

Spoiler:

Anyone have a few old metal Support Weapons (2xShadow Weavers and 2xVibrocannons)?

I played some Combat Patrol games, I ended up winning half of them against Orks, who are the new shiny Codex.

Shots of my most impressive win, with my second War Walker never firing a shot before the Orks were wiped out.

The table is looking fantastic

Unfortunately I gave away all my old Eldar stuff long ago. Maybe when they get all new shiny things I'll have some left overs, but that'll be a long while as too many other projects exist now.

Thank you Theophony and youwashock,

So I have finished the three support weapons and the D-Cannons (still have to do the two alternate weapons). Most challenging part was getting the heavy metal supported on a plastic stand (I ended up using a small cylinder and running copper wire inside it for strength). D-Cannons are magnetized for a weapons swap.

It is great to see all these old style heavy weapons platforms. They sure bring back memories. Good job getting them floating on the bases. They look good.
