The arena looks great. Regarding your Katakros question from head (well the top of his helmet) to toe he measures in at just over 3 inches, pretty much band on 8cm/80mm. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the tip! At one point I may do spectators (although my foothill of embarrassment [I think I don't have enough stuff for pile of shame]) must get smaller before that

Thanks for the quick answer. That might be just the right size. I put the Formoroid Crusher in front of the throne, he is also 3 inches, but of course a little sturdier. Unfortunately my FLGS closes his doors and doesn't get new stuff in. So I may wait until Wayland is giving 20% again on GW stuff before ordering. Luckily throne alone doesn't look to bad. And I always have the option of standing Lego Hulk or Groot in front of it

Additionally there will be two custodes shields be hanging on the walls once finished. The arena transcends all planes of reality!

Viterbi,

Use 5 minute two part epoxy and you will have a permeant hold...especially for the larger ones on top that players will bump when they move their figures.

Just a suggestion.

Thanks Captain Brown, I may try this out, because atm the throne isn't glued to the arena at all.

That said, I am (for the moment) done with it! Added the last shields, some blood and to make the outside look less boring a bunch of posters from the Hammerhal Herald. Following are some shots with all the stuff I painted for WarCry in March and April and the stuff that is still unpainted, but built and primed. Gonna try and finish them in May but maybe it'll be June.

Before that I will return to the 41st millenium and try to finish some odds and ends, those poor sisters are half-painted since I believe February and the two holy men are for the painting comp.

Such an impressive display! You should be proud of all the work you've done in only two months. The posters and trophies add great character to the arena. I didn't notice the floating blood skulls over the gate! That's awesome.

Do you store it in one piece or can you break it into components?

Thanks gobert! I was surprised myself, wanted to put the other terrain next to it, but that is one spacious arena.

Thanks Don Qui Hotep! Floaty skulls were the one important puzzle piece, because I didn't find statues that I really liked for the plinths and they fit marvelously, thematic and dimensionwise. And to your other question, I can break it down into two halves of the ring and the big gate/spectator piece, but I actually haven't thought much about storage. For now it will remain on the table and I have another small table that is now occupied with the next projects, where it might have a place next month or so.

Floaty skulls really ground it in AoS, as do the trophies.

The transformation of this has been fantastic, and I love that you have not really thought about storage - this deserves to be played on and showed-off!!

Thanks Captain Brown!

Taking it slow after finishing the arena, but started on finishing two battle sisters, one repentia and one arco-flagellant and gonna get them finished this week, pics to follow.

And did a little organizing and I have so much stuff built and primed that I'm trying to get more of that painted, before building new stuff and cluttering my hobby desk. Most is fantasy, but my space marines also feel a little neglected (And the stuff seen on the desk isn't even all the built and primed stuff, but you gotta start somewhere).
And because of Theo I now want to start Frostgrave and am gonna repaint my Discworld miniatures (and buy some new ones, to round them out). They were some of my first minis that I painted when I got back into the hobby (first time round I painted practically now minis at all), but they got a bath in Biostrip and will be reborn once I settled on additional minis. With Ridcully as my wizard Ponder Stibbons seems like the natural choice for apprentice (even if he runs UU if one is being honest), but I also like the Tiffany Aching mini. Maybe I use her as a soldier.

And got three games of WarCry in on Saturday, had a friend over and it was weird having someone for an extended time at home after two month of no visits. Also weird omitting the obligatory hug. Games were really fun and starting position and movement was really important in all our games. There were some fun situations and fights, but big bird pouncing on my poor Cypher Lord was one of the highlights.

That arena looks fantastic. Doing it blue instead of grey really makes it look special. The Warcry minis look great too. I'd imagine they are fun to paint, but I've resisted them so far.

Thanks Vejut, they were looking a little bit too shiny for me with their gold armour, otherwise I was quite happy with the paintjob. Gonna have a look at all my Paul Kidby books and try to make them look like the "official" versions.
Now that you're saying this, it is quite probable that this was big birds thought. My friend and I mused that evening that such a big bird would probably have a very small brain

Thanks Syro_! As I said, I was quite happy with them overall, but they are gonna look a bit grittier in their next iteration, modeled after Kidby's paintings.

Thanks Theo! Was quite happy with their weapons too, it's my favorite recipe Leadbelcher and then a coat of Terradon Turquoise but in this case with a added highlight of Stormhost Silver via Drybrush.

Until now in Germany we are thankfully on the whole getting away with it quite well (if you can call it that), but we'll see what the next weeks will bring.

Thanks Fifty! WarCry minis are fun, they have some fiddly details, but seeing as they are just 8-9 miniatures, you always have the end in sight

Started with several five minute sessions on my missionary today, love all the different shades of brown Contrast colors, perfect for leather, rope and wood.

While I like contrast paints and all the colors they come in, I find myself using them more for training my eyes. I’ve never been good at seeing shadow and light (drove my art teacher crazy), and seeing how the contrast works and leaves the variation is helping my painting....I think .

Hooray for Discworld! Those minis are so characterful (even if the Two-Flower one hasn't aged very well). They match the personality of each of the characters in a really masterful way. Sam Vimes is one of the best protagonists in the series, in my opinion, and his sculpt has really done him justice. That Ridcully mini is also really cool. If you check out their website, the way that they've sculpted existential dread onto Rincewind's face is just perfect.
