This list is a take all comers for a rogue trader tourney. I tweaked it slightly after last tournie and I think it might be pretty good, but I wanted some outside opinions. I have fought Speed Freaks, All Genestealer Tyranids, Regualr Tyranids, Atailoc Eldar, Imp Guard and a mechanized Marine army at the last 2 Tournies. So a pretty good variety.

I take the traits that give me more Ven Dreads and infiltrate. I use the infiltrate just to get the Devastators in the right place. Also almost every mission has concealment, so I thought acute senses for the Devastators would be a good investment. For when I am facing an all infantry list.

So without further ado here is my list. Any ideas would be really helpful.

HQ?s<?

Librarian ? Termi Honors, Storm Shield, Veil of Time, Fury of the Ancients, Furious Charge Skill

7 marine Command squad with 2 Lascannons Furious Charge Skill

1 vet. Serg. With Power fist and bolt pistol Furious Charge Skill

Canoness ? Litanies of Faith, Bolter/Flamer

8 Celestian Bodyguards with Flamer and Heavy Flamer

Vet. Sister with Bolter Flamer

Rhino with exra armor, smoke launchers, pintle storm bolter and blessed ammo

Elites

1 Ven Dread with assault cannon

1 Ven Dread with twin lascannon

Troops

7 marines with plasma cannon and plasma gun

1 Vet Serg. With Power Fist and Bolt Pistol

7 marines with plasma cannon and plasma gun

1 Vet Serg. With Power Fist and Bolt Pistol

9 Scouts with Chainsword and Bolt Pistol

1 Scout Serg with Power Fist and Bolt Pistol

9 Sisters of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" />Battle with Flamer and Heavy Flamer

Vet. Sister with Bolter Flamer

Rhino with exra armor, smoke launchers, pintle storm bolter and blessed ammo

Fast Attack

3 Land Speeder Tornadoes all one squad

Heavy

7 Devastators with Infiltrate and Acute Senses with 4 missile launchers

1 Whirlwind with smoke launchers

I have eye to eye as a drawback, so that means that the landspeeders are all in the same squad. I use to run the Devastators with Tank Hunter, but I think deploying them last will be more helpful. Most mission we play have Concealment, Infiltrate and Deep Strike. Thanks for any help.

Lascannons but Furious charge? That seems contradictory.

Similar case here. Why use the points on powerfists and Vets when you have a static squad (PC's)?

I can understand if you're trying to ensure you can survive an assault, but you can either do that by avoiding the assault altogether (tooling up for more shooty goodness) or by saving the points and making a jump-pack assault squad for counter-charge duty.

Split the Speeders. No reason not to, and the benefits are myriad.

Go one way or another on the squads, shooting or assault. As it is, either the Sarge or the cannon is being wasted each turn, and they cost too much to leave those points idle. That goes for the command squad's skill, as well.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake;
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

I never really personally like the idea of Librarians in CC. I think that they are much more a range unit than anything, that could be because I use Tigurius a lot though. I would change the Librarain to a Chaplain, not only do you save points on those powers but you also get a 4+ inunverable and power weapon which means that you won't need that storm shield. I'd change those lascannons in the command squad too to something more assault oriented unless you just plan on waiting for people to attack you in which case you dont need furious charge. Maybe give that squad a rhino too....maybe.

Give that second dread an assault cannon and keep it up at the front of your lines. Lascannons and powerfists don't mix well(speaking from experience). You can save points by doing this and you have a good assault unit to protect anything shooty.

Those two tactical squads should change the heavy weapon. You will probably do better to change the plasma cannon to a lascannon and downgrade the fist to a power weapon OR take that special ability which allows you to have two plasma guns and then give them a rhino or something.

You might want to rethink the scout squad idea. A lot of times there will be something that can eat right through them because of their 4+ save, submunition rounds from the Tau come to mind. Bring the squad down or split the squad into two or something.

Pick a different skill so that you can split up the landspeeders.

Make sure that your Whirlwind has protection around it or it will be picked off pretty easy since deep strike is allowed.

Maybe give the devs some transportation so that they can move faster. Slow dev squads cant do much and get picked off pretty easy.
