Curious what people's biggest failures were in an Epic scale 40k game was.

Back in 2nd edition Space Marine was playing a 2 on 2 game of chaos vs. marines and IG (6000 points a side). I was on the chaos side and we had 5 units of 3 cannon of Khorne each, so 15 guns with variable strength level from 2-10 with a 1 in 6 chance of misfiring. They were the first units we fired on the first turn of the game. At the end of the rolling for all 5 units we had 2 cannon out of 15 still on the table. The other 13 guns had all misfired and blew themselves up completely. It was unreal and by the destruction of the last full unit of 3 we were all rolling around laughing so hard that we had to halt the game for half an hour to settle back down into things. Not to be out down the 2 that didn't misfire and destroy themselves rolled 2s for their strength and damaged nothing. Something like 1500 points of units wiped out in the first batch of rolls on the first turn with no enemy fire involved at all...

Back in 2nd Edition, my Mate and I always place objective 8 right in the middle of the board, with no cover and lots of lines of fire. This objective was worth 15VP's as opposed to the usual 5. It made for particularly bloody battles.

In one battle, my IG versus his Squats committed in total:

1 Collossus (Lost)
1 Leviathan (Lost)
1 Biker company (Broken)
1 Brotherhood (8 stands left)
1 Airship (Barely Alive)
1 IG Infantry Company (Broken)
1 IG Biker Company (Lost)
2 Warhound Titans (1 ended up in a heap, the other went nuclear)
1 Baneblade company (Broken)

For a 4000 point battle, about 2500 points a side were committed to capturing Objective 8. Fun times

In Epic: Arm. I Tported a squad of terminators next to a basilisk/manticore formation. Got the initiative and charged them and failed to do any damage to them Couldn't roll over a 2+ and they killed me with there 6+ to hits and failed to make any saves.

Was pretty bad for me. Those basilisks/manticores ended up doing so much damage to my whole army it was crazy.

Not to sound like a DBag, but I can not think of any true Failures in epic. Well, maybe buying tons of models for armies I never built in it.

Biggest fail, selling all the figures i owned in the late 90's (99-2000) only to find people who play the game and now having to try and find figures to buy again!

When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' 'ummie body. Da smell, you know dat gasoline smell, da whole hill. Smelled like... victory."

Not having house rules that said you could not take Warp Missiles on Warhound titans. Really annoying.

Taking 30 Doomweavers(10,000 pt games) and not making enough templates. Arguments ensue.

Complete jungle table and thinking half-movement seem like a good idea. Derf!

Making a Commisar company with all the free Commisars for a 10,000 pt Guard army. Free, Deadly and more arguments ensued.
