I recently set up a trade with tmac. I provided a large set of over 40 Terminators, and two FW Dreadnaughts and he was offering me a set of SoB with Penitent Engines. I advised that I was sending them out on Monday 8/08/2011. I then sent the package and provided him with the information as well as the US customs form information as well. Under the assumption that he was sending his package as well.

After a week I sent a message o confirm that he had sent his package. And the response I got was a simple "Nope, not yet." I followed up and asked if he could please send the package and the response again was a simple "Nope, not yet." I followed up yet again and asked if there was any reason why he had not sent the package and he responded with "When I recieve I will ship"

I gave this a couple more days and then followed up with the post office to file an investigation on the package and they responded stating the package was delivered. So I sent another message to him. And when he finally responded he said "He had not recieved them and he is not at home. he would get back to me."

I had not heard anything esle from him since and have left multiple messages inquiring about this. Still he has yet to respond. I am currently preparing to file a police report.

I talked with this guy via PMs for a bit and he was exceptionally shady. I'm sorry to hear that things are going badly. Did you happen to get his name during your trade whether it was from the shipping address or in conversation? If you have his name then it may be possible to find previous incidents involving him and perhaps ways to resolve them in your favor.

Did you have any tracking on the package? While the actual lost package rate compared to the reported lost package rate in online trades is very low, it's always nice to have proof. The flip side of that coin is plenty of post offices prefer to pass the buck and simply say its delivered as they have no way of actually verifying anything more than whats in their actual storeroom without tracking and don't care to do more even if they can (especially in an international trade where the claimant is not liable to cause a problem locally). For a large deal like 40 terminators and two dreads, I'd always use some sort of tracking.

I also was working a trade with him for part of my gondor army and I just got a very shady vibe. I stopped the transaction before we got to the shipping stage, where he had asked me to ship first. I have no evidence that he was dishonest in any way but I didn't feel good about it.

Yes I had tracking on the package and verified it with the Post office. I also do have the name and address he provided for the shipping. Which I will be using ot file the report. This is the first time I dealt with him and up to the shipping portion he seemed legit.

It might help the mods to post a link to the online tracking if there is one. It also prevents a response of "no, it didn't arrive!" from being posted in the thread if not true.

What is the name? I will try to cross-reference other forums and if you post the name then other Dakka users who have experience with this person may see it and offer advice.

I also had a trade in the works with this guy. I sent the package a day or so later than I told him I would due to work issues. I sent the package and told him I sent it and needed a phone number or e-mail to send him the picture of all the forms and to let him know it was sent.

I asked him several times over the last 2-3 days if he had recieved the items and got no reply. I even tried to send him a message on Warseer (under the name Clone-Trooper) and still, no reply. I did some digging and seen that he had posted messages on Warseer after I send the PM asking if he got the package. Still, no reply.

I send 8 SM bikes and was due to recieve 2 unopened boxes of GK Termies.

When I did get a reply out of him, he did say that he would send when he recieved the bikes. This was never the agreed process. I was pretty sure it was "send at the same time" type of thing by default. But he never got back to me with an e-mail or number to send him the picture of the reciepts.

8/19/11 would have marked the 10th day from when I shipped the items. Today, 8/21/11 marks 12 days.
Please do not post the personal information of other members on Dakka. Thanks - The MGMT

I have a trade in process at the moment with this guy. After I told him I had shipped the communication stopped completely, even after sending his multiple PMs asking him if he had received his package or if he had shipped. I only got one Pm back from him telling me he'd put a few extra bits in with his package. That was 5 days ago and he still hasn't shipped to me even though I sent mine on the 16/8. Up until now I was thinking I would still get my bits. The communication with him was bad from the start he was not specific with his PMs back to me and all his responses were very short. Up until now (finding this thread) I had no reason to suspect anything. My first bad trade on Dakka.

@Piper:
Did you two discuss what the shipping order would be?

That's an important thing - always know every detail of the trade, from what is included to who is shipping in what order and when they're doing it.

For those who claim to have probblematic ongoing deals with him:
PM me (ON BARTERTOWN ONLY) the email address you have for the guy & I will check our records to see if it matches any current members.
If you PM me here, I'll just ask you to PM me there (same User ID on both).

I knew this name seemed familiar... He actually PM'ed me back in late July about some Storm Bolter and Power Fist bitz that I had. When I told him how much, I never heard from him again. Probably just scouting out who's got stuff for cheap, is my guess.

Good luck to everyone else who's been dealing with him. Hope you nail the guy.

My apologies for the last comment.

However, I do have an update. I recieved a message from Tmac. It said that it was his friend sending the message. The message is as follows....

tmac wrote:Hey, this it Tmac's friend. He no longer has internet, and he's been working and moving around for the past few weeks dealing with personal issues. He told me to tell you specifically, and Da Piper, that he sent your packages monday, and it might take around 2-3 weeks getting to you, as he has to choose the cheapest way of shipping. If you need any pictures of the receipts just pm this account and he'll try to get back to you through me, as i only see him wednesdays and fridays at work. If there are any other problems, again just pm this account.

I actually recieved a package from tmac today... it was the 8 bikes that I sent to him. I dont know why he sent them back. There was no letter and since its impossible to get ahold of him, I guess I will just eat the cost of what it was to ship a package to Canada and keep my bikes.

Felt the heat from this report thread maybe? Hopefully everyone is getting their stuff back from this guy. Is it possible to get his name removed from the "Reputable Traders" thread? He only has one previous trade logged in there but he was flaunting it over PM when we were trying to work out a trade, trying to instill confidence that he is an honest trader.

I'm thinking it might be a good idea if the RT thread cross referenced any transaction reports, so that a full picture of an individual's habits can be seen.

This is kinda...not cool. There should be some sort of way to let people know that there was a Report done on someone. Maybe instead of decreasing the "Good Trade" number, put a link beside the persons name in the Reputable Trade Thread sop that way people can go directly to this ( or any other) and see what happend. Something should notify people and have it stand permantly.

I always look at both, the transaction report list, and reputable trader list, before deciding to trade in the swap shop. It's not too hard to research, takes a few minutes max.

As do I. In my dealings with tmac, the very first thing he cited was his trader rating on here and on Warseer (under Clone-Trooper which has 7 positive feedback, the last of which was from himself as tmac. a bit fishy really). If blatant scam attempts and transaction reports have no impact on the user's trader rating/history then the user is completely free to attempt to scam other users. He was careless here, scamming multiple people at once, but I doubt he will make that mistake again in the future. If there is no system Namecalling portions redacted Dakka Swap Shop runs the risk of turning into a veritable haven for his kind.

At least consider an update to the system that reflects legitimate (not things like broken models in shipping) negative deals. It could only make the Swap Shop even better.

There is. It's the list of Transaction Reports that are stickied to the top of the page right near the RTL.

In any event, this is not the venue to discuss this matter. If you really want to rehash this topic again, please do so in Nuts & Bolts.

Well, there should be a negative trader list/ report section like the Rep traders list. I mean, its just some space on the site that, well, IMHO its NEEDED.

Seriously, this is NOT the venue for discussion on the matter. If you want to discuss it further, you can start up a Nuts&Bolts thread. Any further continuation of this discussion in this thread will be considered Off Topic.

Thanks for the update, Da Piper.

As Jin noted- let's keep this thread on-topic. Further general comments about the Reputable Traders List / Transaction Report List need to go in Nuts & Bolts.

We do welcome the feedback- it's what got us to start the Transaction Report List in the first place. If people are not aware of it, and are only checking the Reputable Traders List, then perhaps we need to link the two somehow- but that's not a discussion for this thread. Personally, if you could only check one of the two, I'd check the Transaction Report List first!!

So with that, any further discussion of these issues should be directed to Nuts & Bolts (if you want to make a thread about it) or PM'ing one of the swapshop mods (if you want to discuss ideas in private). Basically, it's not fair to those trying to solve THESE transaction to discuss how we can make the process better in general in this thread. Further posts in this thread not related to resolving the disputed transactions involving user tmac will be deleted.

I do have an update.

As of today I did recieve my models back, BUT..... The package he sent me was missing

1 Forge World Red Scorpion Dreadnaught with Close Combat arm and Assault Drill

1 FW Commander Cullen

1 Set of Forge World Red Scorpion Rhino Doors

2 Terminators with Cyclone Missle Launchers

Also the Dreadnaught he returned was damaged, both FW arms were ripped off. 4 Terminators were damaged missing limbs. He has removed $100 worth of models and returned the rest. Unfortunately it seems I will have to eat this loss.

Dont, call him out and report to local PD in his area. This is considered theft. Inform him you will take action if you dont recieve the rest of your models. Theft of models is the same as theft of a television, and this is 100$ worth of stuff. Message him you'll inform the PD
