I'm glad to hear you'll be getting to enjoy some of your creations. That's pretty quick for the judging. It must have been hard, there were a lot of good entries. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your kids getting into gaming with you.

We got the set from Cam it is truly amazing. FedEx decided one box needed a few kick though so there will be no unboxing video as that would be unfair to Cam. We have to do a bit of TLC but we will have a review video up ASAP. Once again we are completely blown away by the stuff.

Not where I should be

OK question, I have some models that are "special". like a lord solar macharius OOP metal. I fancy having a go at a proper paint job, but this guy is still in his blister, gift from Gits I think. Do I ham fist it, or should I preserve the holy relic?

Oh definitely worth having a go.....but this is coming from someone who is more than willing to chop up ancient OOP relics for fun times with new bits, and ignores the high archeotech value of said rarities.......

Good work.

The way I see it, about the OOP model, what are you saving it for? So that it can be passed on down the generations to eventually be sold for millions... Or is it a model that's intended to be painted?

No need to be scared of it, take your time, really push yourself to do the best you can do, something you can be proud of.
Don't compare it to the best golden daemon winner's work, compare it to where you were 5, 10, 15 years ago and see just how far you've come.

Make it something that you can strive to beat "next time".

Then, when the paint job starts to look old, strip it and re-do.

You're not going to break it (in any way that we modeller's can't fix), and otherwise it's going to sit, unloved, in a drawer.

Models are meant to be built and painted.

From someone else that would have no problem chopping up an OOP model.

Paint the metal model. If you don't like the paint job, stripping the paint off of metal is very easy compared to plastics. Do it, man!

As others have said, go ahead and paint the model, with GW doing the made to order stuff who knows if that model might return and any perceived value from rarity will plummet. Besides your skills will only add to the model.

I agree that the model should be repainted. I've been going back and repainting a lot of my Oldhammer models, and they have been a joy to work with.

Now showing The Fellowship of the Ring, along with some Dreadball Captains!

Will you enjoy painting the mini? Yes? Then paint it. Worst case is you mess up and strip the paint off to try again.

I see no downside here, unless you mess up and do NOT learn from your mistakes.

Thanks folks.

OK so when I look at this model I can see him striding away from his transport toward a horde of nasty stuff, just casual as you like, "Right ho chaps, lets have at it!" And so I got this really amazing guy striding away from.....well can't be a tank, that's lame, I know a limo, like he is out on the tiles one night and happens across a screaming horde of nasty, and just says " Pull over Jock old boy, spot of fun here!" Then magic wand in hand strides out of the car straight at them. So that is where I am going with this, Himself, a couple "body guards" and his sweet ride parked up with a nasty bunch of stuff doing something silly like maybe some GSC tagging a wall with some silly graffiti.

Anyways, here are some wip shots of bits so far....
Himself....(looking at the picks got a fair amount of cleaning up to do and he is still PIP anyways)

Da lads...

And the "limo"

All still WIP/PIP, but getting there, Got some work to do on the "base tomorrow,

Thanks for looking, and as always C&C positively encouraged.

See... that's what I thought, storytelling modeller right there! Also love the mordians, that scheme is very fitting, they look sharp!
Limo is a stunner too, the whole marble ivory scheme together with the gold is just fitting for that expensive top knob vibe! 10/10!!!
