I have begun the challenging job of updating this first post with all of my Works in Progress.

I have the original first post in quotes at the bottom of this post in case you want to see how it all began.

I will just be posting the pictures here, in sort of a non-musical montage. Please feel free to hum your favorit movie montage music while looking at the pictures.

Here is the first sculpt I ever did, way back in September of 2011:

From very humble beginings, she turned out pretty good if I do say so myself.

The next sculpt I did was a commission for another female Commissar:

And the final picture for this sculpt is when it came back after having been cast in resin!

I will update this post with more projects as I have time, right now, I am running out. Thanks for looking, and see below for the full original post.

RSjake

Hi Dakka!

I have been wanting to make a female Commisar for quite some time. I don't play Guard, hell, I don't play at all (since 1995), and this will be my first guard model. I have some troopers that just came in the mail, I have tacked them together so I can get an idea of scale for my Commisar, but that is as far as I am going to take them for a while.

My idea for my Female Commisar is to make her sort of look like a Dominatrix: Thigh-high boots, corsett, Commisar cap, long trench coat, and maybe a whip coiled on her hip.

I have seen lots of 28mm models that I could have used for a starting point, but I wanted this one to be all mine. So, I started making her from scratch. It's pretty ambisious, I admit, but I think it's coming along quite well. I'm about a week or so into this project. I didn't want to start this blog until I had something worth showing. I've been taking pictures along the way, so I will show you what I have so far.

C & C is welcome and appreciated. (oh, and the majority of the boobs will be covered up by the trechcoat later on and I have not put nipples on them, so I think this should be SFW. Just pretend she has a body suit on if you need to.)

This is Stage One, "The Armature":

Not much to look at, basically here just to give support.

Stage Two, "The Butt":

I started to fill out the flesh a bit, and the posterior recieved a bit too much attention.

Stage Three, "Boobs":

Ok, yes, they are WAY too big! But I wanted her to be busty, I just hope that when she gets fleshed out some more they won't look quite so big. Then again, I can't say I don't like them!

Stage Four, "Details":

Here we have the beginings of the boots, a corsett, thong and the basic possition of her weapons.

I am a bit afraid to start on her face. I don't really know what I want her to look like yet, and not too sure how to go about it.

Anyway, what do you think? Thanks for looking,

Cheers!

Sort of what i was wondering, if she experiences lots of combat and has rigorous physical duties in combat, why is she...."gifted"?

As for the way you want her to look, any cultures or ethinicities in mind? Short hair or long hair, or no hair at all?

You might want to give her a bit of hip to hold the "meat" up. you dont want it to look like shes a stuffer and shes "compensating" for her shape or lack of.
You defenatly got her posture correct though the only thing is you might want to give her some stomach so she doesn't look like shes a sausage underneath that cloth... wouldn't want that. A hint on how to make the stomach is by picturing a six back build depending on character, Then start with lower "pack" as largest continue onto the top "pack then connect both without forgetting to indent into a belly button(unless shes wearing something over it)
this will instil more concentration on the tong as well.

Another thing would be when you build the upper body "meat" like the muscles and shoulders try to give her more shoulder and bicept-ual strength (once again unless she stuffs)

and that should balance the model enough ^.^

For her face I could see a Cleopatra hair cut with Sharp nose and a smirk if you could put it all together I think it would turn out great.
her eyes I would say something concentrated.

hope this helps you keep things in perspective.

Thanks for the tips and advice! I didn't intent to make her so top heavy, but a little GS goes a long way! I have since trimmed a bit off, and reduced her from a GG, to more of an E. Still big, but not as big. In order for the reduction surgury to be successful, I had to remove her head. It's back on, but we'll see how stable it is. I do still plan to add some hip, and when I add her trench coat, it will fill out alot of what looks so slender now. I plan on giving her medium length blonde hair, and I'm on the fence between giving her a smirk, or having her yelling at someone. I didn't get much more done tonight, I have been working on our bathroom, painting and updating fixtures. What a pain!

Anyway, thanks again for the C & C, and we will see what the long weekend brings!

Cheers!

Good start, but I say less boobs, more muscles.. She is a soldier not a playboy bunny, and it would be refreshing to see someone do a female mini that didn't look like some glamour model or adult movie actress.

Now, why can't she be both a soldier AND a playboy bunny?

And she may end up looking more like an adult acress than anything else. It's kind of difficult to make a modestly proportioned female form at this scale. But I am trying to even out her proprtions. Stay tuned, she might turn out ok, who knows!

Miss Dee, he does have a corset on. I may have to re-do it if doesn't look like one.

Tipios, It's been a bit over a week so far. With my big clumsy fingers, I can't have too much soft epoxy at one time. I keep trying to hold onto the un-cured parts.

OK, I've been working on her a bit more now. Breasts reduced (not too much) boots started, arms filling out and ...*drumroll*...a face! I have to admit, it's not a pretty face. Yet. If I can't smooth it out the way I want I may just start over on the face. It should come right off after it cures, but we'll see. Anyway, here is what I have so far:

I think it would help you to do a bit of an anatomical study of facial structure. Part of the problem with her face right now is that it is too far up. People's eyes actually are positioned right about in the middle of the skull, with nose and lips and such below (of course ).

I hope that helps!

Good luck!

Yeah, the face sucked...I removed it and will start over today. Rawson, thanks for the advice, I have drawn many female faces over the years, but this was my first sculpt of a female face, ever. So, hopefully my second (or third) will look passable.

Juvieus Kaine, that's kind of what I am going for. Thanks!

Ok, so I re-sculpted the face. I think it looks much better now, but I still have the eyes to do. I went slower this time and did the face piece by piece. I tried to sculpt the whole thing at once the first time, and we saw where that got me! So, here is an extreme close-up:

And here is the overall model to date:

I think the face has come out much more proportionate, the cheeks are a bit big, but I will be adding to the sides of her head/face, and it should even it out.

And I know she is super skinny, but I still have to put a trenchcoat on her, and that will make her seem much thicker...I hope.

So, what do you think?

Unfortunately, your proportions in general are way off on the legs and torso...

The torso is not just a thickness problem per se, but missing anatomy. She needs hips and a rib cage, hour glass shape, right now she is shaped more like a cigar.

The face is improved, but still has big problems too. The cheek bones now are absolutely massive and will need to be shaved back, while the upper head will need bulking out.

It seems to me you need specific reference in front of you while you work, correct me if I am wrong, but you aren't working off of any pics or anything right now right?

Now, as much as it sounds like a bash right now, I think you are off to a great start funny as that may sound. Despite the proportional problems, you have already managed to accomplish a lot all the same, and get much further than most. There are plenty of excellent reference sources, and I note a lot of masters work off concept sketches and reference such as the one below -

@MajorTom11 I didn't take that as a bash at all. Very constructive critism. Thank you! You are correct, I am not working from any refference pictures or anything of the female form. I know I should have been, but I couldn't find anything like the one you posted, I will print that out at work today and see if I can salvage the model.

I did get the eyes done, but at this stage I don't know how I can reduce the size of the cheeks, I may start over and hope my 3rd attempt will look right. The lapel of the coat is for refference only, just to see how it will look, I will have to make both at once to make them even.

Thanks again for the tips, I'll see what I can do.

Personally, I think her face looks fine. It is really really hard to get a decent looking face on these models. I agree that her hips need to be fleshed out a little bit, but in all honesty, this isn't a finished product yet, and I am totally willing to let you finish before I start throwing rocks! This piece looks great so far, and I can't wait to see it finished.

Cool looking model! Your gs-fu is mighty mine not so much. I like the lapel of the trench coat looks good, you know if you wanted to have her busty and be a soldier you could always add flak armour like a medievil breast plate. She would Be kinda popping out the top but she would still have fem qualities. Just my thoughts, no crits this time cuase you know what you needs to be fixed. any way good luck

@A Kvlt Ghost , I agree, everyone seems to do over-the-top females...but to be honest, at this scale, if it's not over the top, it will most likely just look like a man. That is the reason the GW guard troopers are as big as the 8 foot tall marines, so you can see the detail. But also to be honest, I wanted mine to look as much like an adult film star as possible!

@M0rdain, Thanks! You should give it try, I have fat fingers too, you just have to work slower.

@Jimsolo, Thank you, And yes, I still have a lot of work to do, but I hope the end product doesn't look like a a cigar with boobs. (hmmmm, should I give her a cigar too?)

@alabamaheretic, Thanks, "Tune in next week to see if RSJake's GS-fu is strong enough to make this female look like a female!" Ha ha ha!

Also, I need to ask, is the Leg to Body to Arm ratio OK? I know she's not thick enough, that will be dealt with, but are the other proportions looking alright?

Thanks for tuning in, I hope to get more done tonight, so look for updates!
