Here we are with all the basecoating on the model. Next stop, tidying up, highlighting, decals, and weathering

Thanks man, The hardest part, is dealing with the fact that this is a $300 kit. I can handle screwing up a $40 Chimera kit, but this one was a bitch. I caused more damage cutting the resin parts from the channels (sprues) than was present from the casting process and shipping, then my primer coat got lumpy in places and I have more surface texture than I intended in spots. I really hope I start to enjoy this kit soon with the weathering, because it's been a helluva lot of work so far.

I made it to Best buy and got my Space Marine (PS3) and Fringe Season 3 on dvd and even managed to get a hard edge highlight of Gretchin Green on and decals placed (splotches are the gloss undercoat prep for the decals)- those will be hid by later dull coats.

somehow your pics are mostly grainy.... your minis deserve a better cam!!! the vets are awsome... did you use goliath plastic arms from necromunda? got a couple of those too... for some reason i never thought about using that way.... great idea!!!

Yeah, I need to learn how to use the camera, I'm sure it's more user error than quality of camera. also, my primer coat went horribly wrong, but didnt notice it until the green was applied, so the aircraft has a grainy texture under the paint. DOH!
THis is the auto setting on the camera, better than me

i ´ve heard often people complain about primer being grainy...sometimes i think like this...extra free texture... nothing to be sneezed at^^ well of course that only aplies with bigger surfaces with big models... on the average footsoldier thats a blow of course^^

Yes! lol those were some of my oldest bitz in the box!! I first used them with catachan bodies on Space Marine bikes for rough riders, but that project never got finished

i like the way you posed your minis on the HW bases.,..that guy with the shovel is pure win, very good captured movement! also i like how you used that mortar arm on the other fella...looks like he changes the battery on the lascanon! from what did you make those bolter shelss by the way? also i have to say from that distance the frosted primer is a bit looking through but i think in game you seldom will see anything of that stuff! the poses and the paintjobs cover this up to all extent!

funny how you don't notice painting mistakes until you photograph them....The bolter shell casings are little glass beads, they are a bit out of scale, but I think it's the shell belt that comes out of the ammo box that is really out of scale, bolters are supposed to shoot big, explosive shells

well for the vests i think a darkening wash ad you are good to go, a tad on the bright side they are currently...glass beads... if you have any could you show them unpainted? i think the paint makes it very much into a whole new form...

ok, I'm not sure if you have them in Germany, but here in the US, women (and men I suppose) make jewelry from these little beads. These beads temselves are just small cylinders of colored glass, hollow for threading a hemp rope or whatever they want for a bracelet, necklace, etc.

I have a little pill bottle full (a lifetime supply) from years ago, but they are quite cheap in a craft store such as Michaels or Hobby Lobby, I think you can get that stuff even at Wal-Marts and other superstores

you can see that mine are not perfectly round, they have some flat sides

ok missunderstanding... i understood and knew what you used and probably know of a place where to get them, i just wanted to see them in their natural state as then i could see how they transformed^^ i have played with the thought of useing spagehetties cut to size for that job by the way^^

don't worry, the dark green ink is still wet on the plastic leaves, they'll get some yellow ink, then when dry, glued up off the edge of the base

go pick up my pre-ordered Star Wars Blu-Ray
Watch football saturday and sunday
finish my Marauder Destroyer

sounds like a single life to me... me with the kids and the wife too there is always something to disturb the painting/building^^

well be sure of my envy when it comes to free time^^

I am uniquely fortunate to have a wonderful girlfriend who understands my hobby. She bought me the Marauder Destroyer!! Definitely a keeper. I've had an ex-wife and several others that didn't understand, relationships are a bit like modeling, each attempt gets better
