Is that the next picture in line after the "drive me closer, i want to hit them with my sword"...? Does he want to sparkle these hybrids to pieces? Brilliant diorama...and in such a short amount of time...

Todays excercise...

Something completely different....

Had this kicking about for a while...

So painted it....

Also I am trying a bit of sculpting, competition on Facebook (link below) has to be a figure from scratch with no feet on the ground. Here is my effort so far.

Oh dear... Cam, legionnaire has 2 'n's in it. You may want to fix that label on the plinth.

Nice work on the painting. I haven't seen anything from Airfix in ages. It's good to know they are still knocking around.

The sculpt is intriguing. How did you make its armature?

So we love the terrain set we got in from Cam, could not be any happier. A fill showcase is coming shortly. But for now, our good pal Skari from SkaredCast filmed a batrep on it. Check out Cam's amazing terrain below in action!

Not where I should be

OK so distractions, distractions......

Recently came up about painting orange, and I was trying something a bit new today so thought I would share, not sure I got it right but we will see...

Anyways, orange, well I normally work from a red through to an orange, and sometimes I work from a yellow and deepen it to an orange, but today I thought i would experiment and let you see me fail dismally, but we might get something out of it in the end.

Started off with a black primer and zenithal highlight of white....

Then I am applying multiple layers of an ink wash, this is the ink...

Now mistake no.1 I watered it down about 1:1 water...this made it too thin I think, but carry on.
Here is simply 3 coats of wash over the plain white...

Then I added a base layer of yellow ochre to another model and added the same 3 layers, notice the difference..

And a third model base coated burnt sienna...

The experiment did not work but does show nicely what the base coat does to the results. From this I am going to redo these guys but work from the burnt sienna and use acrylic paints rather than the ink.

Talking of redo, better strip them bad boys....and here is a nice tip. Stripping, don't mess about, I have seen loads of different ways of doing this and have done a few myself. This is by far the quickest and easiest way ever.

Dropped the models into a jar with Methylated Spirits. And got my new friendly neighbourhood battery operated muncher cleaner...

And literally 5 minutes later I am here...

Got right into all those cavities.

OK more later, thanks for looking and thoughts are most welcome.

Not where I should be

Thanks Vik,

OK, first up a little plug for a good friend.

Just found out that my friend has a business on the side, wish I had known a long time ago. He sells buttons and also they have a laser cutter or two. I went over and met the family and ended up discussing lots of ideas. Basically these guys can cut acrylic, mdf, plywood etc. And I am in talks at the moment to see about some designs for our hobby. Here is a link...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/lasercuttingne00/Other/_i.html?_storecat=1

And here is a very rough first go at a little scatter piece....(it is 30mm wide)...(thats about 1 1/4" for you lot across the pond)

I need to work out a couple kinks, that are all my fault, but quite happy with first blush...

They are a wonderful group and seem very open to ideas, I will certainly be dealing with them shortly, really looking forward to it.

Next up the orange saga continues.....

Base coated burnt sienna...

And ok forgot to do a step by step but after a little more paint...

Then a purple wash and a rehighlight and a little more work....

Have pics of the finished product later.

Lastly a quick modelling related, .....I have seen people raving about this light before I am sure, but I have to say this is close to the best £20 I have spent on the hobby in a long time...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8W-Dimmable-LED-Desk-Lamp-Touch-Sensitive-7-Lighting-Level-Office-Daylight-White/272392206692?epid=2259552528&hash=item3f6bd73964:g:H9wAAOSw3WxaL6Ai

these are duffle coat knobs...right? cool container idea...could work as ammunition too...

your friend already sports a huge amount of products...i´ve looked through his shop...even now he has basically bases of the most used sizes so to say...also i like the boxes...i need to book mark his shop....eventually i see an order coming up...laser cutters are probably the next big thing everyone wants for his own workshop in the future...

last pic of yon eldar looks really good...you really do honour these metal relics

Between the translucency and the gradation, that's a really interesting effect. I'll have to try that on some Asterians or something.

Thanks folks, much appreciated.

So, there is a new LoER comp. I really cannot recommend them enough.

So first lets choose a base to work from....only really putting this up to show I have lots of mdf laminate floor cut up to make terrain bases, highly recommend picking up a few bits, even a end of line box at the local DIY store and spend a few minutes cutting it up.

Some sweety wrappers.....

Bit of foamcore...

Want a few details so lets make some...

And after adding a layer of styrene sheet we start to add the details...

OK thats it for now, thoughts welcome...
