I amwanting to play sea dogs but I already have a sizable khador force now. Also I just dont want to collect amd paint the sea dog models. So what I was thinking was using winter guard models as sea dogs since they are equipped the same and bit out the sea dog cannons and winter guard weapon crewsand play them as the khdorian navy. The question is, do ypu think most people would not mind playing against that army?

I was going to use merc jacks because the little fluff I could find said that the navy was still poorly equipped comparied to the army so the merc jacks woild be perfect. Is the any more fluff out the about the khador nsvy other than that one little box in the khador forces book. thanks.

It sounds like a fun idea but you need to be very careful you don't confuse any one. No one like to have a big advantage bearing down on some winter guard only to suddenly find out they are sea dogs and they are charging with Hawk, Gogspar, and Rockbottom's buffs in place.
The jack conversions sound really cool, but be sure the weapons are correct. Again, avoiding confusion is key. Some khador plastic arms, a little extra armor, and a red paint job on a freebooter would convince me it was a juggernaut.

As for playing them, Valachev seems like a perfect choice since he makes them khadoran faction models while remaining sea dogs. You can stack A LOT of buffs on that unit with all the merc solos and all the faction stuff.

I agree with Dias you would really have to be careful. In order to prevent confusion I would leave the infantry models alone but paint them up in your Khador colors. As for the jacks small conversions could be fine - weapon swaps would be the easiest and the less confusing (leaving the arms and everything else the same).

You could also find a company that sells fluffy hats and put them on all the pirates if you wanted....

Yep, I understand the confusion issue. I was planning on explaining the list before I play. Also, I was going to use stright merc jacks because the khador jacks are saved for the army. the only models thst are going to be switched is the infantry and cannon crews.

The problem with using merc jacks is that they are only available to mercenaries. You CAN take them with mercenary jack marshals, but you still need khadoran jacks for your battlegroup.

I am not going to play them as true Khador. This is going to be a pure Mercs list but using Winter Guard in as counts as Khadorian Navy in place of the Sea Dog Infantry models. It will use Merc Casters, Merc Jacks but will be just modelled as Khadorian Navy.

My thinking is and by the fluff is that the Navy does not get the good Jacks or equipment so they have to use bought or captured Jacks from other sources. Nothing will be played as with Khador Rules.

I think it sounds cool. Most people would not have a problem playing you I think.

However, you may have trouble at a tourny, especially a big one.

But if you are doing this for fun then I do not see a problem.

Yep, this would be something that would be used in friendly games. I am more into the campaigns and friendly games. The tournies have really started not to be fun in WM or 40K to me.

To me it sounds like a great idea and very fluffy. I'd happily play against it.
