Right, I remember the trenchcoat body has a hint of breasts, right.

It think Necromunda is already extremely too fast on new releases, I'd actually like to slow it down. Especially when weapons upgrades will be released for all the factions.

As a boxed game that already works perfectly well it should be fine as it is for a long time.

Gang + Specialists + Weapons upgrade are a perfect combination, we don't need anything else. Factions' rosters are already quite wide for a skirmish game. Last thing I want is frequent new releases for each factions that are pushed in terms of rules, so that older stuff might get left behind.

Terrain or books are perfectly fine as new releases instead, as they can completely be skipped but those who like them or are interested will happily buy them. A new edition would be annoying, but I still prefer it if the alternative is to expand the gang rosters even further.

Speaking of cool terrain for Necromunda just find out by chance theres a freaking cool shanty modular tower going on atm. So yeah this would look super on a Necromunda table.

I dont do KS'rs but damn this is tempting.

I have been looking more at Necromunda and what happened to the box of 6 ogryns?

That is what? More of vapourware that will fill a folder on your desktop never to be printed and lost once your hard-rive dies never to be seen again? Ill pass! I rather have a brick on a box that I will open in 10 years time and makes me revisit a shanty table again. I will stick with an actual object thank you sir at least it exists and motivates me to use it.

As long as they don't have power creep stats more gangs are fine. Although there are already 10ish factions (counting chaos and gen cult) which is already quite a lot for a skirmish game. If it was for me I would have just kept the 6 factions released in 2017.

9th edition of 40k suffers from being incredibly wide in terms of factions and rosters, IMHO it's its biggest downside compared to the older editions. I wouldn't want that for a game that is currently working very well. Is there really the need of 15-20 different factions?

More factions and/or more options always lead to a game that is harder and harder to balance. To the point that people start demanding constant updates for their "left behind faction".

The original game came with two books and loads of gangs, right? Didn't need loads of updates cause it was all right there and they didn't introduce loads of power creep mechanics as they went. I hope they don't power creep necromunda, but I am definitely wishing for all the crazy gangs to come back. Seems like having a crazy number of factions is only a problem if all your games are one-offs with strangers. Otherwise you'll be discussing them and building them up as you play with your group. A real issue for tournament players, but campaign play would work itself out, yea?

The upcoming guild minis(not just H2O) should fill out the rest of the underhive stuff. I think I'd like a civilian box and maybe carts/trolly/dumpsters/etc to fill out boards with non-combatants & other millieu.

The market stalls are a good start and if they are able to keep the ZM stuff in production and available, the game isn't going away.

I mean, fair, it's possible for it to go that way, but I've already printed 20kg of terrain and that's a LOT in FDM as it prints hollow. Multiple tables' worth. I'm going to have plenty of boxes of physical stuff to rediscover in 10 years time

You can see here one of my tables that's almost entirely printed apart from some TerrainCrate scatter https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/60/735065.page#11203796

Nice looking table. Yeah I would never print anything or open the files again... If by accident I would stumble on them a decade later the software has probably moved on too.
GW could make a plastic modular shanty tower and would sell sooo much. Like the 40k Bastion kit.

Personally I don’t see them fitting in a Cawdor / Redemptionist gang. Not without some serious conversion work anyway.

Happy to be proved wrong on this once people get a hold of the models and work their magic

My redemption gang is based on old metal sisters of battle models. The Sisters repentia and Superior with two whips, with some of the old priest models too. These sisters will fit very well with my redemption, adding some very needed weapon options to my gang.

Gotta say, with the absolute bukkake of releases GW is putting up this weekend (Ltd. Ed minis, Kill Team, AT, AI, new HH stuff), I'm surprised that the latest Necromunda stuff isn't among them.

I'll get them, though my first plan is to use them as hench(wo)men for some Ordo Hereticus stuff (with Greyfax and the three AoS witch hunters). They'll surely make their way to Necromunda too, but I'll choose the rules that fit them most - don't have to be the Redemptionist ones.

I'm relieved! Considering Titanicus, Aeronautica will drain my funds and, er, a gang stronghold purchase that just happened to be made for some reason

The more gangs they add, the more ways GW has to find for differentiating them from one another (and as we've seen over the past couple of years, those attempts are pretty bad for game balance).

Like, look at a couple of the latest brand new gangs, Corpse Grinders and Ogryns. Neither is well-rounded, and neither produces a fulfilling, long-term campaign experience. CGC are OP on dense boards with travel lanes (and small boards in general), but feckless in a shooting gallery setup. Ogryns can be vicious early in a campaign, but have no worthwhile upgrade paths, and fall behind mid-to-late campaign.

The differentiation posed by the House books has further widened the balance gap, with things like genesmithed Goliaths and Van Sar juve gunlines being able to put together wickedly credits-efficient rosters.

I absolutely prefer a broad, somewhat imbalanced game to a narrow, very balanced game (like what existed early after N18's release) but we're nearing the limits of the differentiation that can be supported within the system without the gangs coming out broken. I would not be surprised if the gangs in the upcoming book are busted, either.

@Dryaktylus: Great plans. I'm really looking forward to seeing how everyone uses them in different games. I wonder if you have any inklings of which rules you might use for them.

@Altruizine: I agree that GW's track record isn't great in (in many areas). I also don't think this game needs to be balanced. You seem to suggest that many of the gangs have very powerful combos at their disposal, which tells me there are balancing features if you want to play balanced. That is to say, if you want to power game or if you want a quirky gang there are mechanics and load outs to do either. I think I'm getting farther away from understanding what you are saying. You are taking issue with the game being unbalanced, then giving examples of ways that already exist to balance the game (like changing the terrain or structure of the gangs involved). You also said you prefer unbalanced games... so what's the issue? Is it that the ways to balance the game are entirely up to the players? Is it that soon there will be too many gangs to keep track of?

The universe these games are set in are so rich, why wouldn't we want ways to express our favorite parts on the table? Fingers crossed they bring back the Star Child... or is it children? Either way, I'm happy with more toys.

I suppose I just don't want it to become 40K.

We're at the point where they've started to invent new factions and eyeball footnotes in the lore for others. Makes me wonder how many years away we are from formations, allies, flyers, strategems, vehicle rules, etc.

I will admit I have the opposite view. I love more options. More gangs. Sure some will be unbalanced, and I'm honestly hopeful some of the older ones will be given a touchup to be brought up a bit more to the Houses with books.

I definitely agree with that. Yes, people could probably do without Spyrers and I'm sure they'll want to tweak Ratskins a bit, but the rest of those gangs were brilliant.
