Does Air support take up a Divisional support slot/choice?

Well, it takes up the Aircraft - Air Support slot, if your army has one.

So the Air support slot is different to a normal divisional support slot. Oh yeah and my army is 7th Armoured Desert Rats.

Wait, wait.

In your army list - you'll have a Divisional support slot for your aircraft, correct? Then taking aircraft will fill that Divisional support slot. You don't have an overall limited amount of slots in FoW army lists - they're restricted by the slots in the army lists.

That's true now, but that wasn't always the case. The older books (i.e. everything written before Cobra) generally included restrictions such as "You can only take 1 Support Choice for each Combat Platoon". Cobra switched over to the format that's now in use, though, and I don't think any of the older books are currently in print (the last ones went away when Turning Tide and Earth & Steel replaced the old Normandy books).
