HIDING IN METAL BAWKSES!

Ok, so I am going to make a Pre-Heresy Salamanders force, hopefully using some of the models, but if not, then I will at least use the color scheme, as I like the darker tone. But I do not know what paints to use.

Could you wonderful people on Dakka help me?

as far as I can tell, they still use their heresy era colors (they have no successors and were nearly exterminated.... by example, Imperial Fists, UltraGayRines, Dark Angels, Ravenguard, Blood Angels...... blah.... also still have their original heresy era colors). So whatever GW has writ, thats probably what you need. Otherwise, do whatever the heck you please, because in the end, its your army. I've seen a solid-color salamanders army (no flames) and it was done with a more drab-color green-gray, and I think it looked absolutely fantastic. Its your army, and the real reason you paint it is so that they don't get confused on the tabletop or "stolen".

I think that your colors match better. On the Salamander Lexicanum article, there is a pic of a Pre-Heresy era Salamander, and it has a dark green color, not the medium-bright green color GW and most people have.

Salamanders from the Rogue Trader days were dark green (Dark Angels green is perfect) with a yellow wavy band across the shoulder pads.
