I've been collecting some vintage RT/2ndEd orcs to use as a skirmish army in other games (not 40k) and I'm conisidering using a different skin color than green. Anybody have any pics of 40k orcs in different colors? I'm aware of the colors of LoTR orcs but I'd like to see them (and other schemes) on 40k orcs if possible.

Iv seen quite afew people doing orks with blue skin which looks surprisingly good. Apart from that I think the only other color iv seen orks painted is purple which i didnt think worked too well. Unfortunately i didnt save any pictures of either :(

There was a you tube video I saw a while ago. This guy was painting orks, and he had 20 different types of green & browns, then a bunch of different washes and highlights. he'd just pick the colors at random to make each ork look unique.

They are plants so you'd think they could come in all sorts of colors.

I like those, particularly the chalk-coloured one at the end.

I do know that some people paint Orks red, though. Some even go so far as to call them Chaos Orks, which is kind of cool.

Well, Ork's are part fungal, so I had a sit down and think, different fungi from different areas develop seperately in colour and function.

Across the voids of space, that would hold true on a far larger scale.

So I found this site, hilighting different fungal colours and growths actually pretty cool and some of the colour combinations may inspoire you!

I like playing around with different ork skin colours, it makes it easier to differentiate all those mobs here's a couple from my gallery if they are any help at all:

Pretty sweet. I've used it as a guide before and it works well. I'm sure if you wanted to stray even further from the traditional ork colors you could just use more radically different base coats or something.

Awesome folks. Thanks for these. I never realized orks would work so well in light fleshtone. Kind of makes them look like "mutants". If anyone else has any, keep'em coming.
