Hi guys and welcome to the Konvicts
This is my first warhammer army, so be nice haha!

After many hours stalking dakka i finially had the inspiration for my army.
I have a vision of a bunch of rag tag exile orks unified under the flag of kraks konvicts, plundering and scrounging the universe one bullet at a time.

The konvicts are going to be made up of rejects from all ork clans so the colour scheme is going to vary apart from the standard issue konvict grey clothing.
I have not tested skin tones yet but the end result will be somthing dark and dirty.
Tattoos, war paint, scars and hazard stripes will be added to models.

I am in the hobby mainly for the modelling but when i have a core force i will no doubt put them into some action(when i get my head around the rules)

Currently have a Big mek KFF WIP (Pics soon)

Thanks

As promised, pics of the Kff big mek! My first conversion and konvict.

The arms are pinned and the head is blu tacked. I still need to add wires to the servo arm (will use as 'counts as' PK or meks tools depending) and the controller for the KFF.

Front

Rear

Side

Does anyone have any advice for removing paint from plastic/resin without damaging it or the glue?

Thanks!

Been a long time since i updated due to a house move, but today i finally got around to unpacking my modelling materials (sort of still working out of a box) and i have made some decent progress with my big mek, my first nob for a boys shoota squad and i have done alot of greenstuff repairs on a load of boyz that had polycement glue damage!

Front shot of my big mek kff with some greenstuffing done. I have tried to add a frew rips/holes to my orks clothing with greenstuff and the odd scar.

Side view with abit of detail on the wire and the points its atached to the controller/kff

Top view of the servo arm with details and wires, i tried to make it look like it had not just been glued in place.

First nob for the boyz squad. I greenstuffed a few holes in his clothes and a bionik eye aswell as converting his claw and shoota from the aobr warboss gun with a zinge industries ammo belt to top it off.

Ammo belt and an attempt at a scar.

Some straps and other bits.

Converted big shoota boy again with zinge industries bitz and a load of polycement damage repairs with greenstuff as its an old model

Ork boy with again more zinge bitz.

ork shoota boy with more damage repairs and greenstuffed holes.

And a group shot of what i have put together so far! aswell as my big meks robo squig!

The greenstuff looks alot ruffer in the pics than in hand but any c&c is most welcome as i am still very much a novice!

Thanks A1

Looking good I especially like the use of the servo arm on the big mek, the idea has officially been stolen.
I do however think you need to add something to the part of the nobz arm where the power klaw is attached, because at the moment it merely looks (from the back) sort-of, well... plain. It needs some wires to distract from the fact that the wrist is just glued to a flat part of the power klaw.

Just make a power pack similar to the one that was on the warboss of AOBR and run some wires from it to the power klaw.

Nice start. The Big Mek looks suitably menacing/means business. - and I love all the small Green Stuff details - congratulations, you have just slowed down my modelling some more Green Stuff Fu will improve with practise (although it is looking very promising already) - and this is a great way to practice. Glad to see you drilling those barrels!

Thanks for the support guys!

Primarch i see what you mean, i will add a few small wires going into the arm to try make it look integrated and i will add a power source.

Arakasi thanks you are one of the blogs that inspred the creation of the konvicts!
I agree drilling the barrels is a must, im going to try sculpt some cinematic effects at some point.

The new rear of the ork nob. The picture does not actually do it justice, its had to tell what it looks like from this picture but in hand its awsome!
thanks primarch i am happier with the way it looks now!

And these are my early WIP of Krak the original Konvikt.

front shot with my converted combi burna from a custom mega blasta.

Proper view of the combie burna and underslung fuel tank.

Rear shot with some basic greenstuff filling cracks and fixing wires from the repositioning.

Great Job, the Nob looks way Better!
Krak Looks Cool too, I never thought of using Kustom Mega Blasters as burnas/ skorchas That's a very good Idea.
Nice use of the Forge World Kommando head too.

One Other Thing I would Like To add (Feel free to put this in your sig everyone)
There are 3 types of things that make nearly any model look cooler:
(1) Rivets, (2) Cables/tubes/wires, (3)Techy Bubbins (Tesla coils And Most any part from a necron gun)

My painting is not up to scratch yet haha, I am going to run through a load of aobr boyz and test some techniques before i destroy one of my characters. I still have not settled on a colour scheme yet, so painting is a while off for now (or showable standard)

I ravaged my bits box looking for kombi burna materials and spoted a spare mega blaster that had all i would need on it.
I will be using a second forge world kommando head to convert a non mega armour krak aswell for smaller scale games i think, last night i placed an order for a bunch of micro arts studio ork gassmask heads to try break up the mass of orks i am going to field and also slipped in a pack of maxmini miniguns to make some huge big shootas

I had exactly the problems with painting; only after I'd ruined about 40 (!) ork boys did my painting look accepable....

I initially had my doubts about the FW Kommando head, but apparently I was wrong. I still have to fill cracks and fix wiring from my own Mega-armoured Warboss I didn't think (off the top of my head) a Mega-armoured Warboss could take a Kombi-Burna? If he can't, he *should* be allowed to - looks cool regardless

A few weeks ago i painted the skin on a few aobr boys with a simple scorpion green base with a thrakk green wash with ok results, i might retry this again and add a highlight or two.
I want to paint them up with a dirty skin tone as i dont see orks taking the time to wash and my boyz are the scum of the universe. I need to experiment and try a few other ways, maybe a devin mud wash at the end will give me a good finish.

Due to the mask the head is oversized anyway so it fits well, as for the burna im still unsure as to what i am doing with him yet just maing him look dead killy with a load more daka to go on him yet.

The birth of the konvicts

Krak was kommando nob in a badmoon clan, Serving under warboss Rotsnag untill disobeying one order to many he decided to take kraks head.
Only a nob at the time he stood no chance and in a violent battle lost both arms to the warchief, he was left armless and broken in the desert for three whole weeks untill he was found by a young mekboy known only as the Mekanik, being a badmoon krak had no shortage of teeth, he payed the mekanik to reconstruct what he had lost. His rise through the ranks of the elite squad known as the kommandos had made him a masterful tactition.
When the mekaniks work was complete krak rose from the work table with a new purpose, with revenge on the mind he began tracking the warband with the mekanik alongside enthused with promises of loot like no other.
Eventually catching up to the warband krak challenged Rotsnag to battle till death, With the help of his new cybork body and a few tricks the Mekanik had given him he rose supreme decapitating Rotsnag with his own powerclaw. That was only the beginning, he continued to butchered every single nob, boy, got and snotling apart from the one small kommando squad that had served him.
To this day he still carrys Rotsnags head as a symbol of what happens when you cross krak.

Through out the many wars fought and observed he has become obsessed with dakka and has come to realise that weakening the enemy with a hail of bullets before the great waaagh gives him a good tactical advantage but as with all orks he loves watching the life drain from his enemys as he destroys them in hand to hand combat.
Although originally a badmoon he is very similar to blood axes in the respect that he holds no true allegiance to anyone but his boyz, he will never flee a battle for fear of death but understands when its a lost cause and will retreat to fight another day.

I have not done much in the way of fluff yet but i am still very early in with this army so no doubt things wil change and shift as i go on.

I have this thread saved! haha

Smallish update due to me having some urgent shopping to get done.

I got a nice surprise in the post today being these

Im in love with the heads, i might have to make a whole unit of shoota boyz with them.
The minigunz are abit smaller than i had hoped but two got looted straight away and im sure i will find something cool to do with the rest.

Krak got a big dakka upgrade =) took me ages with a file and clippers to remove the stubborn standard shoota.

Still need a bit of greenstuff touching up, the end bit is really thin and broke but with the help of super glue its back on and wonky ork style!

Would not want to meet them in combat!

By the way does anyone know of any other makers of ork wonders or cool bitz such as kromlech/maxmini, puppets war, zinge and micro arts studio?

Updates are going to vanish over xmas untill new year as im getting dragged off with the misses to see the rents and down to london to party hard
Might get another one or two in before i leave.

Thanks
A1

First update of the new year! Happy new year all!

Just got my modelling bits out after all the christmas and new year madness so i started putting together my normal krak warboss for small scale games. Its proving quite challenging with my current greenstuff skills but i am happy with the results so far.
I also had a go at greenstuffing fire

front

front 2

Side

Rear

This is the first layer of greenstuff for the basic shape (finger prints withh be removed), when its abit harder i will start adding more folds, seams, pockets and other details
head and arms are blue taced on.

I have some terrain i wipped up today aswell so i will be adding pictures soon

Once again all cc is most appreciated

Thanks for reading!

ORKS, ORKS, ORKS!!!!

like the idea of the convicts (but all orks should be put away from society eheheheh)

Nice conversions and GS work with the flame, impressed, really impressed, trust me

For the colors scheme, why don't You check pictures of convicted uniforms in the net, You might find the combination that suits your idea the best.

Your converted sentikanz are great! i will be spying on your progress for future ideas haha
My greenstuff skills are crap but if i keep stabbing at it i can sort of form it to my will.
I have looked at a few uniforms but am not a fan of the orange or black and white striped overalls. My colour scheme is going to be grey dirty overalls/prison clothes, dark/dirty ork skin tone and weapons will have had alot of use so they will be rusty and battle damaged.
I plan to add chains, tattoos, hazzard stripes and warpaint to some orks aswell. Do you think they will have enough colour/contrast? If i do the tattoos is blue/red/purple and add a few hazard stripes i hope to break up the darker colours abit.

MrMerlin wrote:as far as i know, GW washes are the best. Tbh, I have not yet tried the alternatives, but GWs ARE great!

Yeah i agree washes are a must have! I was just wondering if anyone else knew of alternatives with differant colour options, I have heard good things about vajello smoky game ink
I only just checked out your blog and i must say your duel pistol ork looter and the kommandos have been stolen! You will be a big insipration for my future lootas (crappy static poses and all the harness clutter dont work for me)

Cheeers!

Thats a nice shade of green, i would give it a go but my current paint collection does not include cammo green or gretchin green. The greens i have are Heavy black green by vajello that is ment to be the same as orc hide shade, knarlock green and scorpion green. I need to buy a pot of goblin green as i think the jump from knarlock to scorpion is abit bright. Some how need to make these colours work haha
maybe with a wash of mevil mud will make it look abit more grubby
