Man, what an amazingly diverse category of work. How you got the white so sharp on the french (and beyond) is impressive especially at that scale. You may have mentioned this earlier, but what paint system do you use for that?

@Turaxa: Yeah, I haven't posted that many pictures of them, because I haven't finished them yet. The RG RX78-02 is painted and for research reasons I applied the stickers that come with the set. That's what I really enjoyed about this gunpa experience - the little differences. Never before I applied stickers (not water-slide transfers, self-adhering stickers) to a model before. And they are pretty impressive, but water-slide transfers are preferable. Another funny thing about that gunpla thing is availability. With wargaming figures I'm used to a range being just available all the time, unless the manufacturer goes under or stops doing them altogether. But with gunpla stuff there's LOADS of kits and additional bits and so on, and not everything is available all the time. Like waterslide transfers for a Gundam. I got a catch-all transfer sheet for 1/144th Origin kits which have fewer, but the most important ones I think for Char's Zaku II and I think the Gundam as well. Oh, and I need new hands for the Gundam. The very early RG hands with the individually-movable fingers are super impressive, but also extremely hard to keep from falling apart and they don't really give a good grip on guns and such. So the Gundam is painted, requires weathering and possibly decals (or I try weathering over these stickers, but maybe I'll tear them off again. They're okay, but not perfect by far.). Now as for the Zaku II - the HG model I got was meant to look very much like in the classic films/show, which means there is very little in terms of details on there. So I added panel lines and little bits and holes here and there and all of that and experimented with new ways of doing red and all of that. So the base colours on the Zaku II are done. I'll still need to apply decals (hope the ones from the aforementioned decal sheet actually fit, mostly these white lines on the leg covers and the skirt). Of course the "eye" on the Zaku is a big thing. I'm not huge on adding LEDs to model kits, so instead I ordered a bunch of self-adhering plastic gemstones and will try if that gives a nice look instead. Then I have to paint the weapons and add some weathering. of course weathering a red (possibly a little too dark red actually) mech isn't quite as striking as on the light grey Gundam, but I'm sure it'll turn out well. For some reason, halfway through painting/customizing the first two [I'll regard the EG Gundam just as a tester] I ordered three more kits and even built one (Chuchu's Demi Trainer. I love a basic and pragmatic looking mobile suit). Let's see when I get to do something with it paintingwise. So yeah, that's the state of things. I really hope to get at least the Gundam and the Zaku done for the autumn shows circuit, the next thing on the to-do list being getting new hands for the Gundam and getting Char's Zaku II decalled-up.
@blockade23: Thanks very much. Yes, I'm very lucky that I get to work on such a wide variety of figures. I use paints from all sorts of companies. These days it's mostly Vallejo, Scalecolor, Schmincke and Coat d'Arms paints I use. Yeah, white crossbelts and such are a pretty important thing on Napoleonics, aren't they. At smaller scales I just use plain white and don't bother with off-whites or cream colors on crossbelts. All they have to do is stick out, no time for subtleties.
Alright, I learned more about the afore-posted Eldar vehicle. A man on the excellent Lead Adventure Forums (up the forums, where actual useful information is conveyed and kept!) explained the origin of the model:
axiom on Lead Adventure Forums wrote:
"Just to help you out on what it is, the cast was by Monolith Games, which was run by Steve Mussared. Steve was a Golden Demon winner who had connections with the studio and was bidding for the rights to sell 40k vehicles. This was a prototype of the Epic scale Eldar Deathstalker. He also did a Falcon. Ultimately, the rights went to Armorcast and Epicast in the US, and only a handful of these prototypes were made. [...]
There's some good info on the various resin licensed and unlicensed kits over at Collecting Citadel Minis Wiki:
https://www.collecting-citadel-miniatures.com/wiki/index.php/Resin_Vehicles_%26_Titans"
Now as for something I painted a while ago, but only did the finishing touches on now, here's something new again - first WW2 figures I painted this year, the very first 1-48 Tactic figures I ever painted:
Four Fallschirmjägers and two Grenadiers, along with some terrain. 1-48 Tactic is an interesting gema. A very small skirmisher, quite abstract (you can see these terrain pieces that have cut-outs for figure bases, so you can put a model in each one). Figures are 1:48 scale, hence the name. All digitally designed, as far as I know, a few years ago. In my opinion, you can see that in the somewhat poorly detailed faces, especially on the earlier figures. Here we have a mixture of grenadiers and paratroopers; the latter are better drawn. Of course, with the scale (here we can really speak of a scale, not a figure size ) you can also use various figures from scale model manufacturers. At least in German-speaking areas I think that 1:48th scale never played a big role in scale models, apart from airplanes. I think diecast is also quite big in this scale; Richard Clarke likes to use vehicles of this scale with 28mm figures.
Anyway, it's an interesting game from Italy, and whenever I've seen it as a demo game at table top events, people really dig it. Partly because it's very quick to learn and everything is pretty clear. The figures are available either as starter sets with some terrain and tokens or as individual figures in a blister pack, each with a unit card with name, equipment and values. https://1-48tactic.com/
...and here's another shot of the X-Men (now featuring Colossus!), all finished and with a white background:
Hope you like them!

Heyhey, happy weekend. I painted the Marauder Giant to a degree that I'll call him pretty much finished. He's been standing on the sidelines in a half-finished state for long enough.
To me it's just one of the most iconic GW figures ever. I bought him ages ago off a friend who got rid of his WHFB figures. Last christmas I gave him a start, but the very next night I put him aside. This year, to save me from tears, I thought I'd get him finished.
There are tons of things to improve and fix and all, but at least he's in a playable state, and that's always the main thing.
Hope you like him!
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Okay, after two comments I went back and fixed two things on the guy: The green shoulder got a bit of texture, highlights and shading.
...and the back of the left knee (which is a deep hole in the figure I made a bit less dark looking, after a friendly man on a German forum said that this didn't look healthy.
Sill a deep hole, but I think it's a bit better now. At least I'm happier with the guy now. After all: If you're gonna do it, do it right (right). *dances in a Wham!-ly fashion*.

Cheers! Yeah, I got him second hand about 15 years ago, and around christmas last year I finally got some paint on him. Underestimating the figure a little But now he's finished, and I got a giant!
Heyhey, I took a bunch of photos of finished things. Guildball:
Various:
Navigators Guild:
Here's some Eldar. In fact, the boss of all the Eldar:
...and that finished Deathstalker prototype/concept:
Two Freebooter's Fate legends:
Two major things were born to live for ever more: Exactly, Manowar and Man O'War.
Here's three Dwarf Ironclads. Fun fact: I actually own Man O'War. Full boxed set, unfortunately all still unpunched and on sprue, so I never played it, and I kinda don't dare to. Which is a sorry state of things. Oh well. I'm busy trying to get stuff done. After all these many tiny projects I'm glad to get back to a larger chunk of 28mm Napoleonics again. At least a nice big unit of light infantry and hussars, as well as artillery train wagons. All for the battle of Eylau 1807. Snow bases!
Well, I hope you like the pictures!

Thanks muchly! Yeah, that model was a bit of a chore, mostly pre-painting. The cast was very rough, with bubble holes and casting scabs all over. The crystal came in two parts and a LOT of milliput and filing went into it to make it look somewhat even.
Well, we're facing some nasty floods here right now. Luckily I'm living on a hill, but scary stuff happens along the Danube. One week ago we had weeks and weeks of extreme heat (for what we're used to. 33-35°C), from one day to the next temperatures dropped to around 10°C and several days of heavy rainfalls.
Anyway, over the weekend I cheekily dug into my own figures once more, finishing up things. Such as these plastic Corsairs I bought a few months ago:
Those I bought for all the wrong reasons (and one and a half good ones): Out of some sudden FOMO attack I bought them in May or so when I thought that they'd disappear from GW's store. I also was kinda curious about those 'new' Dark Elves. So much for the bad reasons. The one and a half good reasons: These are actually surprisingly reasonably priced. Like EUR 2,50 per figure, something around that. Okay for GW figures. And I wanted two more ranks in my Corsairs unit. So I got them, painted them in the colour scheme of my DE army and off they go to wreak havoc across the shores of the Old World. Arrrrrrr.
The other thing I did was take care of the situation of those skeletons' banner. A few weeks ago, I posted this picture:
Now I finally added a banner to that banner dude.
This actually is my very first banner for skeletons, of course the choice of design was very clear.
I remember seeing this picture even before I had anything to do with Warhammer; pretty sure I saw it in a Heroquest context and I consider this painting to be about as formative for skeleton warriors as Jason and the Argonauts or Army of Darkness.
Hope you like them.

@Gitsplitta: Cheers! Yeah, it's a special little thing. Especially since when I first got it, it was a really rougly-cast brick. But it has this rogue-trader-ish alien coolness to it, so I had to make it look nice. @Camkierhi: Thanks, I really appreciate that. Heyhey, here I am again. With pictures! First, 28mm Napoleonic French for the battle of Eylau, 1807: For the “army shots" (it really is just two formations) I did something different than just taking a wintry background. The background here is the battle painting of the Battle of Jena by Rugendas. Ok, wrong battle, but it looks like it fits. And the time fits. At least that's something. Anyway, I'm quite happy with the result because the guys look a bit like they're jumping out of the painting. They don't really look “realistic” either, but very dressed up. What I also really like (and which also helps the somewhat artificial look) is that Murat looks like a flat figure. He's definitely a fully-sculpted regular figure, just modeled very much in the style of a flat figure. But really nicely done and beautifully cast. 3rd Hussars: Represented by two companies - one line and one elite company. Here's the elites, bearskins and a hussars sapeur(!): The flag I got supplied with the unit was in fact the flag for the 10th hussars, so I was asked to repaint all the numbers in the flag (9) to be little threes. As you wish.. Hussars officer in his chic red leather boots: Here's the other unit - light infantry: I'm not quite sure how exactly they are represented here, but it's quite interesting and depicts a lot of interesting bits about French light infantry of the time. Each formation consists of 3 bases. Skirmishers in front (Voltigeur-Chasseurs from Front Rank, beautiful as always). Note the “drooping” plumes on their shakos. Behind them, three bases of Carabiniers, the grenadier equivalent of light infantry. All with bearskin caps and red cords. They even have their own flag, sapper and, most importantly, a leader of the regimental band! Behind them (in the first picture) there's an interesting representation of a regular light infantry batallion: From us on the left, Carbiniers again, then the chief party with eagle, flag, drummer and vivandiere and then a base with Chasseurs (with hunting horn instead of drum, as befits the light infantry). Cool figures, as always very nicely put together by the gentleman for whom I was allowed to paint them. Technically they're three different units (for Valor & Fortitude), but they also make a great attack column: And then something else! French artillery train for Spain. A caisson wagon (with ammunition for cannons and muskets) as well as an ostentatious carriage to transport cannons from A to B. And a funny, black and white doggo. Automatically Appended Next Post: Next: Add-on to a Fankish Saga army I made in 2015/16! "Sound the alarm! Exotic steppe warriors gathered to raid the village!" 24 levy troops, including a motivational speaker (the first and only metal figure in this army!): 4 mounted veterans: ...and here's something exotic - Pechenegs (as Mounted Steppe Warrior Mercenaries)! These are built from the Heavy Arab Cavalry box from Gripping Beast. The gentleman I'm building and painting the army for had seen the Pechenegs in a movie, thought they were exciting, and sent me a screenshot for reference: So the guys were supposed to look wild and un-fancy. They also had to look un-Arabic (because they weren't Muslims at the time), and they all had to be equipped with bows. The construction was time-consuming, because the poses for bows are limited for the heavy Arabian cavalry. Here and there I used a head from another box. Normally I would have made them colorful, but that wasn't possible. So I took refuge in the trick of painting saddlecloths as cowhides and other animal skins and painting on textures. Arrow quivers were covered with fragments of paper tissues soaked in glue to give them texture too. So these guys were an interesting challenge, but I think it worked out, and they look suitably different to the rest of the army and have a rather unique look now. Now on to fantasty things. I got to paint a Frosthaven figure again. ...and three happy frogs! Nurgle stuff is always fun to paint. Hope you like all the stuff!

Sigur, your historicals are unparalleled. I love what you did with the painting as the back-drop. It really puts your models in context nicely. You did a great job making the Pechenegs look varied and interesting, even though they're kind of a study in grey and brown.

Right, another Orktober thing: A very nice person gifted me some Orks for my own collection:
Especially things I had next to nothing of before: vehicles. Three warbikes with three different riders, a Scorcher, a Battle Wagon in really good condition (I already have one that I saved 15 years ago or so, but it doesn't look so good. ), two Orks from the 1988 range and an Ork in 'Eavy Armor. It probably needs to be stripped. It's actually unpainted, but crusty. I hope it's not lead red, but I don't think so, because underneath the figure is ok and doesn't crumble or anything. And one of the most iconic Bad Moon bosses.
Pretty cool, eh? I already have the two bigger orcs on foot, but I haven't painted them, and I haven't had any bikes or even a scorcher yet. I think I've got the plastic warbike lying around somewhere, but I can't do much with it (well, I'd have to replace the rider), and the Scorcher's post-Gorkamorka version from 1997 or so doesn't really appeal to me. So it's nice that I got those now.
Now I could finally add Evil Sunz to my army, as well as Bad Moons (I have a few Bad Moons on foot, and of course the orcs in mega armor, which have to be Bad Moons anyway). Which would give me representation of all the clans. Would be cool. This is just a small sample, but a reminder of what my army looks like:
So yeah, that's the news. No idea when I'll find the time to paint them, but I cleaned them, assembled as much as I should before painting. Haven't touched the Battle Wagon yet (should I keep it as a Bad Moon one?), but all the parts are there, apart from the scythe blades on one of the rear wheels I think.

@Dysartes: Cheers! WAY less popular than I thought it would be, but okay. A bunch of people expressed that they found it useful as an overview, so it's okay. So on to much less niche-y stuff than classic fantasy! - here's some giant robot dolls! Yup, I finally got them to a state that allowed me to take photos. This is the Real-Grade Gundam, the first RG model they produced back in the day, and it's widely considered to be really bad because it's fraught with teehting problems. The technology behind the kit is amazing though, as are the details. It even comes with a little Amuro figure! I built the fella pretty much out of the box, and for test reasons I even used the stickers(!!) which come with the box instead of decals. Painting was also pretty straightfoward, if laboursome. Now as for Char Aznable's Zaku II, that's pretty much the other way around. This is a High-Grade model kit, so one level below the RG kit above so to speak. This specific model it incredibly well engineered as well, and lovely, but it was specifically made to resemble the early cartoons as a sort of anniversary model. So it comes with next to no details at all. Which is not what I was looking for, so I spent days scribing panel lines, adding little bolt holes and extra details. The mono-eye and the lense in the gun were replaced with little plastic gemstones. Fun fact about the Zaku II: It rocks. The amount of emotion you can get out of a rectangular hole with a big, round dot for an eye is amazing. It's a bit like with Gromit's eyebrow or Wall-E. Also, it's just an iconic antagonist (just the suit alone; I'm not even going into the whole character of Char Aznable) for the equally iconic Gundam. I love an 80s giant robot cartoon design, and especially so if they come with pseudo-realism like the logistics behind it, human pilots, various versions for different battlefield purposes and so on. So a bit more Battletech than Transformers. And to my knowledge early Gundam stuff very much was that (but all really just an excuse for dramatic battles featuring cool robots with guns and swords). Which is why I prefer utalitarian "grunt suits" over overly fancy robots of later years. Both models are 1/144th scale, stand about 13cm tall. They're fully posable and come with several armament (and hand) options. I got them because for years now I've been wondering about these kits and heard so many great things about the quality. And it's all true. These are great model kits to put together. Parts are all pre-coloured and you just stick them together, no glue required. I invested WAY more time into these than I had any right to, but now they're done-ish enough (there's several things i'm not happy with, but I'll rectify that with the next kits. Yeah, because I bought more robots already.). Hope you like them!

@blockade23: Thanks very much!
@Gitsplitta: Cheers, I much appreciate you commenting anyway. It's a bit of a weird thing, I feel a bit silly for doing it too. But it's also an interesting detour into a different world for a bit.
Here's some D&D figures I just painted for a gentleman's collection. All 3d printed (but nice figures ):
Hope you like them and enjoy your weekend!
This one's the last quiet weekend for a while. Next week I'll be at an event, the week thereafter I'll be at Vienna Comicon. Should be a hoot.

Due to end-of-year-panic and a general fondness for Orks (and this army specifically. I've been working on it since 2017 after all), I made good progress on the Orks. Here are two first pictures of a Trukk and a handful of Nobz:
There's a lot more to come, but that's a first teaser so to speak. Hope you like them!

@Gitsplitta: True dat. This whole collection actually has some very charming figures to it. First time I can say I thought "oh, that is cool" when I unwrapped the figures when it comes to 3d printed fantasy figures.
Yup, the Orks are done. Warboss, 2 Painboys and a Runtherd:
Snikrot, sneakiest of all the gits:
Zodgrot Wortsnaga, greatest of all he Runtherders and bearer of big hair:
Big Mek, with magnetized weapon options:
Warbikes:
Nobz in Mega Armour. They're the biggest and the meanest of the big and the mean, so I limited red to a minimum and mainly stuck to black and white/metal. Also with plenty of magnetized weapon options:
18 Nobz with power klaws:
Shokkjump Dragsta:
More pictures of the Trukk:
In the front left ofthe loading platform there's a little game of Tictactoe the passengers did to pass the time.
Last but not least there's 15(!) Killakopterz:
The challenge here was to make them look as individual as possible, whilst of course adhering to the look of the larger army. These models are HARD to make look individual. I hope it worked. The googlie eyes on the one in the middle in the last two pictures probably were my mind crying out for help.
Anyway, hope you like them! They, along with the robot toys and much more stuff will be with me at Vienna Comic Con this weekend!
