Transaction was for 20 Khorne Berserkers for $27 shipped. Canthatenuff received my payment via paypal on Nov 2, 2011. Canthatenuff did not communicate after payment was received. When I rquested an update or I would be reporting him, I received a reply of "Oh, sorry. I will be shipping tomorrow." This would have made for the item to ship on Nov 5, 2011. On Nov 6, 2011 I reuested an update on the shipping of the item. As of today I still have received no communication from the seller. In addition, the seller still has the item listed in his posting as available.

I understand you want the item, but honestly I think its a bit too early to be filing transaction reports.

Did you check to see when his thread was last updated? It may have been awhile since he's gotten the chance to update. Also, I'd post the link to his thread for us to see as well.

And as Horst said, I'd exercise a bit of patience when dealing with others. Not everyone has the same availability to check Dakka on a regular basis, and those of us fortunate enough to check daily forget that at times.

Good luck with your transaction!

Doesn't look like he's made any updates since the 2nd of November. Did you ask him for an estimated date in which you should receive the models? I'd imagine that it would take about 3 to 7 business days before getting to you. If he shipped on the 5th or 6th I think it would arrive for you possible later this week or early next week.

I am also involved in a deal with 'canthatenuff'. We concluded our negotiations on November 3rd and I sent him payment on November 4th. I have received no communication from him since November 3rd. I requested an update yesterday. As an FYI to others, this was for the 6 Steel Legion troops and the first two Basilisks he has listed on the link above.

A few days gap in communication itself isn't concerning, but he was reasonably quick at responding prior to receiving my money. Now that he has my money, I haven't heard anything back I am growing a little worried. At the very least from a "customer service" perspective this is poor form especially when you've received about $100.00 from two people. I will give him a few more days, but if I don't hear from him by next Monday, I will be filing a claim with paypal.

If anyone would like more details, please contact me.

I bought his third basilisk, I'm not worried about it yet though. Sometimes I can't get into the darn post office myself due to work and he may be in a similar situation.

I will be waiting for a reply or next Monday, whichever comes first. And I agree with everyone here, I was merely putting my two cents where relevant. I have enough faith in dakkakind to give him a week, but I did also send him a PM and email.

I am also waiting for a reply. I sent him money for the Dreadnought.
He said he was shipping Saturday, and I have not heard back from him when I asked for an update Monday.
Hearing this I am concerned now. :/

I've sent him another round of PMs and Emails, still no response. Anyone else had any luck?

It can be distressing when someone is very communicative until they get paid. Then when you do not hear from them at all, it's troublesome. Not just with online trading, but with anything in life. I hope that everything turns out ok.

He is, it would be good if he could respond here. I know a few people are keen to hear from him.

[Edit] Should he choose not to contact me today, I will be filing a claim tonight. There's no reason for him not to respond as I suspect he has a few PMs from several users here.

Too bad Dakka doesn't show if they have been read like btown.

I like that, but it's unnecessary. The flashing "new private message" notice is sufficient. And really, he's taken $100.00 from 3 people at this point and to the best of my knowledge, he has responded to none of them. A simple, "Hey, sorry [insert reason for not responding here]" would go a long way. I've been in sales and customer service for almost 15 years, and this doesn't cut it even at the most basic level.

Admins: If it comes to that, should I be filing a seperate TSR or just add to this one? Thank you.

FYI, I offered to purchase two basilisks and a chimera from canthatenuff around November 2nd, but he insisted that I send my Paypal payment as a gift. I refused unless he could provide suitable feedback from other trades, of which he has none on dakka, either on this site or BT. His response was that he had done transactions on dakka and offered me his eBay account feedback which had a paltry amount of feedback, some of which indicated that he is a very slow shipper.

I offered to send paypal with the fees, but he did not respond to this directly, but simply said that paypal via gift will help him get the money faster. I declined to do the transaction afterwards since it seemed too sketchy.

I'm not saying he is a scammer, but FYI, do not ever send anything via Paypal gift. This will make recovering money you sent near impossible.

Good to know! I wish I had known that before I sent as a gift :(

Yeah if they have no references the gift is not a good option as you are basically telling paypal you owed them money for something you already had or it was a gift. So "payment owed" "gift" not good unless they have a reputation.

He requested that I do the same initially, but when I sent him the following message:

"Hi,

Your request to send this as a gift has given me pause. While I realize it's nice to be able to pull the money out of paypal faster that way, I lose any kind of assurances through paypal if I send it this way. As I don't see a trade history for you here, this doesn't give me any security that I will receive these items.

Comments?"

He then said it would be ok to send it as a regular purchase payment, so my concerns were largely resolved, until now. [edit] However by sending it as a purchase I can now engage both Paypal and Visa if necessary. As I said earlier, if I don't hear from him by tonight, I will be initiating the claim process.

I can deal with people being slow, but ignoring 2 emails, 2 private messages and a BTR isn't acceptable. Everything within reason, this is beyond. [end edit]

Disagree that the OP is jumping the gun on this. A deal was made and the promised ship date passed with no word. Maybe something did happen but that doesn't excuse the lack of common courtesy to inform the other party of a delay.

I have to disagree with the sending as a gift thing unless the guy is shady (Like in this case).

I think most of us use PayPal and honestly the fees can get quite ridiculous at times. In many cases, I pay extra shipping costs when I trade to insure my items are trackable and signed for and this makes sure that nobody can later claim the item was never sent. If I had to pay PayPal fees to, I might be less inclined to put out anywhere between $5-$10 a trade extra on shipping just for that extra level of security.

I had to transfer cash between accounts today, as a GIFT, it charged me $5 on just over $100, that is a little frustrating, let alone when it is a transaction.

Anyways, seems like this guy was desperate for cash cause he wanted something and now for whatever reason he is not shipping out. It's my experience in situations like that, the guy is avoiding people because he cannot afford to ship out; hence wanting money instantly for his items cause he was broke. I don't doubt he will ship to you, just not in a hurry it would seem.

If you don't have the money to follow through with a commited obligation, you're effectively in breach of a contract, and you shouldn't be making commitments you cannot keep. The language is a little stern, but the principles still apply. Gift vs. Purchase all depends on reputation, of which this individual has none, which is why I sent it as a purchase. As I said above, I'm a reasonable person, but I'm also not a charity (I just work for one :p ).

However this is getting a lot off topic, we should probably pull this discussion elsewhere. So, I have started this thread here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/409996.page

As noted in the post above this one, please take general discussion of how best to send payments via Paypal to the thread in Dakka Discussions. Thanks.

This would have normally been premature for posting a Transaction Report, but as several people have sent funds and none have heard back, I will leave this open.

You have plenty of time to file a Paypal claim, should it come to that. Please only post in this thread with specific information regarding the trades/traders in question... other posts will have to be deleted. Thanks.

No. Unfortunately not. Unless you funded your payment with a credit card or bank account through paypal. Then you can file a claim with your actual credit card company. Or if it was funded from your bank account you could file claim with your bank. But you will have no recourse directly with Paypal...

Just contact his local police department if that is the case, notify them he is pulling online scams. (If it comes to that)
