Life is certainly interesting.

My grandmother owns a farm and is a part owner (small percent) of a slaughter house. She has always been working class/lower middle class. Earned a modest income.

Several weeks ago a gas company came to her negotiating a price for her land.

She is now worth several million with all the land she owns and all the gas under it in western PA. My Aunt is now negotiating a price from her horse farm.

Why does this not happen to me?

Best luck I ever had was winning 100 bucks from a scratch ticket. Blew it on dinner with my ex-girlfriend. Who left me that weekend for a hipster. Didn't even bother to give me back the $1,200 bracelet I got her for Christmas just a week prior to that.

B****.

Somewhat selfish that you aren't happy for your nanna. I like hearing about decent working people getting a break.

But anyway think of it like this.. she's your gran mate! When she kicks the bucket your mum and dad will be quids in, and then by default so will you profit.

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

It sounds like your Nan was a hard worker her whole life. Therefore, it is tough to begrudge her such a windfall. Kudos to her. I hope it makes her happy, or continues her happiness.

However, it really illustrates that being in the right place at the right time can be a key ingredient to getting rich. Some of us call that "luck".

Oh, I'm happy for her.

The post was not suppose to come off a selfish. Just how interesting life can be and how quite a bit of it is luck. Being at the right place at the right time or knowing the right people.

Either of them single.....just asking.

Seriously good thing for them. I myself would be loathe to sell land, I hear they aren't making any more of it. If they can work out where the company just pays them for using their land over time that may be nice.
