I mainly use full sized squads, 10 marines, 12 Genestealers....etc. It seems that most people use 2 man units of XV8's and XV88's, for some reason that drives me nuts and I don't know why. Maybe if I know more why people do so, it will lose the stigmata and I can use them. It has to be more that the fact that you can use cover better, right?

Thanks for your time and help.

Because the max number for a Crisis/Broadside squad is odd (3), and even-numbered squads are more efficient in 4th ed.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake;
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Lord Sutekh, is correct however its not just the even numbered squad issue, its also exspense, and the JSJ (Jump Shoot Jump) issue you mentioned.

By exspense many people seem to enjoy using the Target Lock so they can split up their fire if you want three crisis you would be only able to buy one target lock as a HW since your third slot invariably goes to Twin Linked Missile Pods or a Multi-Tracker. . .

Major comboes I see alot of. . .
Twin Linked Missile Pods, Target Lock
Missile Pods, Plasma Rifle, Multi-Tracker, (Sometimes a HW Target Lock on the leader but its exspensive)
Burst Cannon, Plasma Rifle, Multi-Tracker
Missile Pod, Fusion Gun, Multi-Tracker, (Usually on a suicide run against tanks while deepstriking)

The number 1 reason is morale. With 2 suits, you will never ever go under half and can thus always have a potential rally, never take the -1 Ld and such.

With 3, the last suit can become so much dead weight.

Also, it is easier to JSJ 2 suits behind terrain than it is to do the same with 3.

Well with 3 you can use bonded for 10pts to give the last one chance to regroup.

The problem with 2 is that after 1 dies you are taking last man standing tests for the rest of the game, with tau ld your in trouble.

The most popular choice is 1 per elite slot if you have the slots to spare.

With HQ slots you can have 5 single suit units, course if you like stealths that number might go down to 3, with only 1 scoring at that! (but that was still my choice)

The Plasma Gun is a game altering force of unspeakable power
