Whats are the reasons that would stop you buying a sisters of battle army?
Cost
All metal army
Limited customization
Poor and unsupported army list
They are an all female army and i do not want women in my army.
Some female soldiers are fine, ala eldar, but in moderation, all-women being a theme is off putting
The whole concept of space gothic 'nuns with guns' is just too stupid.
They are too sexualised
They are not sexualised enough
Under-developed background and fluff
They are just wannabe female marines

Just a tad curious with the new faq having just came out and I couldn't find a poll in general discussion on this.

For me its mainly cost, metal and the armies lack of support.

While I'm tempted to say I'm just not interested in playing Sisters, I think it really comes down to cost. Having an all metal range only exacerbates the problem (higher cost and hard to work with).

Overall though I think it's really a matter of "I only have enough money to support one army, and Sisters aren't it."

Probably the fact that theyre an all woman army. It just doesnt feel right to me. However, im a guy, so obviously woman would feel otherwise.
Competing for that spot is also the whole religious warriors philosophy that they take.

Really? I never thought of the religion or fanatic thing. Mainly because its so omnipresent in the rest of the Imperium, but I suppose unless you're looking at Black Templars it is much more prevelent among SOB.

Same, but for me it's because the only Sisters player I've ever seen in public (during one of the few times I ever visited the local GW store) was a very creepy, very smelly, very short, very rotund guy.

I've got 1500+ points of Sisters of Battle. With the exception of a pair of rhinos and a few odd troopers grabbed from the swap-shop, I haven't expanded the army in a few years, mainly due to the price of the models- I built my sisters back when you could buy ten sisters in a box set for ~30 USD, nowadays buying the same ten sisters (superior, 7 bolters, 2 SWs) costs about twice as much. Although the sculpts are really well done, there's only a few different poses, and customizing metal minis is a pain in the neck. The final nail in the coffin comes from the possibility that a new codex and new models could be released, that would ultimately invalidate any investment made now.

As an athiest, I try to stick away from the religious factions in 40K, which is why ive never been a big fan of Sisters, BT, Grey Knights, etc.

Seems rather limiting. I mean, any reasonably moral person, religious or not, should see how abhorrent most of what happens in the 40K universe is, lol. I mean, not everyone who plays Chaos is a genocidal deviant. It's just a game. Being an atheist shouldn't influence your decision on whether or not to play a "religious" faction. Heck, if anything, it's almost funnier because of how fervent and psychotic they are.

I've just never really liked the fact that the Sisters were a pretty shameless attempt to grab Space Marine dollars with an all girl Space Marine-like army (Marine armor, Marine tanks, Marine weapons). Their fluff is also kinda silly to me. The description of the Sororitas seems more like that of the Stormtroopers (fervent, highly trained, brainwashed normal humans) than that of Space Marines, yet the fluff also tries to pretend they'd be able to accomplish all the superhuman feats the Space Marines do (lugging around gigantic heavy weapons, wearing the complicated power armor, etc) without any of the things that make Marines superhuman in the first place.

I picked up a few of the models when they first came out, just out of curiosity. Never played them because I already had a Marine army and the Sisters were essentially a weak, derivative rip-off. The fact that they never got plastics and were even more unaffordable than normal 40K didn't help.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

I ticked the top 4 choices.

The cost is just too much, While i like metal models in general i really dont want a whole army of them. As stormfather said they would be a pain in the neck to tinker with and i like all my models to be slightly different in appearence. Even if its only the placement of swag or the way they hold their weapon. Plus theres the whole not getting any support issue.

Side from all that i quite like the idea of Nuns w/guns in space. The whole concept amuses me.

All they need to do is make a plastic Battle Sisters box with options for meltas and flamers and you'd see a LOT of people pick up Sisters.

Ironically, I reached a totally different conclusion. I detest religious conservatism and I'm more or less ambivalent about "faiths," but I love playing fanatical warrior monks.

I guess it's more a matter of being able to shelve moral/lifestyle choices when it would get in the way of 40k's grimdark fun, rather than choosing an army whose beliefs match your own. Not that there's anything wrong with doing the latter, but I don't think everyone necessarily does that. Some people get more of a kick out of playing the villain (whether that means religious zealots or straight up Chaos depends on one's point of view, of course).

Cost, all metal army, limited customization, unsupported army list, and the somewhat underdeveloped fluff are what kill it for me. Their aesthetic doesn't do enough for me to make me want an army of them, but I think the core idea is a good one.

For all of you who voted "they're not sexualized enough" there's something sincerely wrong with you.

Nothing. Nothing can stop me. Muahahahah!

On a more serious note, I'm not a fan of some of the sculpts, and the rules these days have killed a lot of what made them fun, but I still enjoy the themes and base concept of the army enough to have collected somewhere in the realm of 4000+ points of them in the past year. Plus I actually like metal. It can be a pain to work with and leads to a bit of monotony in the poses, but I love the weight of it. The minis actually feel solid.

Exorcists are a bit much though. Those organs desperately need to be made in plastic.

I skipped building a Witch hunters army because I didn't want an army composed of twelve iterations of the same four metal models. A decent plastic kit would get me on the Witchhunters bandwagon like it was my job.

Strange things stand in the way of armies for me. The only reason my first serious army wasn't Imperial Fists was the pain of painting yellow.

Well, assuming I was still buying GW minis, the main reason I wouldn't buy Sisters is because they're insanely expensive, even for GW; a ten-"man" squad of troops, assuming a Sister Superior, Simulacrum Imperialis, 1 Special Weapon, and one Heavy Weapon, is something like $85 USD. A little while back I wrote up 1000 point lists for every army, and the Sisters army was more expensive than any other army by about $100 to $250. The fact that they're all metal doesn't help. I actually wanted to play Sisters when I originally got into 40K, but went Dark Eldar for some reason. Actually, back then it might've been the fact that Dark Eldar had at least some plastics and plastics were cheaper and I was kind of afraid of metal minis.

Easy answer, the cost.

I like the metal, the models (well some of them are trash but they're old), background and playstyle. I hate their price.

On moon miranda.

Primarily? Ridiculous costs coupled with a poor and unsupported army list.

That said, as a quibble that I'd like to see but wouldn't stop me necessarily from playing the army if it didn't happen, I'd like to see them lose the bob cuts and have more varied hairstyles and make the armor a bit less "corsets and heels".

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

I own over 3500pts and enjoy playing with them. I've read the books and graphic novels and their fluff for many years and like the history. I also enjoy using them for they are probably one of the most balanced armies. I play alot of different armies, can build alot of power house armies with them but it is really hard to do with the sisters. I have played them for many years but they are not one of my favorites to play all the time, just mainly friendly games. I wouldn't use them at a tourney with their current white dwarf codex because it would end up me just giving points to opponents.
As for them being reproduced when their dex does come out, I have been told that the plastics are already in production, but it still remains to be seen.
But whatever your flavor is, having fun playing is the best part of gaming. Laughing and hanging out with friends is all that really counts.

Fluff

The pubescent, pretentious, irony-free, holier-than-though tone of the old Daemonhunter and Witchhunter books are among the worst stuff GW ever published.

If they get a Grey Knight-style make-over, I'd reconsider. Plastic certainly would help too.

I get that its a sexualised picture but they're hardly heels in the sense you mean. People said the same thing about Miranda and Samarra in Mass Effect 2 having heels and not the much more obvious sexual elements with what they were wearing.

Probably nothing, but the art for the Hammer and Anvil book by Black Library had a picture of a SOB (Miriya, I think?) who had a much less pronounced corset on her armour; in fact she might have not had one at all but I couldn't quite tell. Might be how they're thinking of making SOB plastics; you never know.
