Subject: What do people think of the Eldar Corsairs?

Hello and Merry Christmas.
My copy of imperial armour 11 came in the post and I am curius what people think of the Eldar Corsairs \ Pirates?
I know that people might not have the book, so I will try to highlight some of the points:
They have no aspect warriors, but being pirates they have BS 4.
2 dedicated transports: A craftworld venom (think vyper) and a Falcon. The falcon is 25 points more I think but it BS 4(!)
The night spinner is in the fast attack slot. In the heavy weaponds slot they have the warp hunter and the "firestorm" upgrade falcon with 6 shots.
A poor mans farseer and a pirate who can take a"night fighting" missile in the HQ. (The night fighting missile is a shot that when fiered gives night fighting until the end of that turn, and the next players turn.)
For each troop corsear unit you grab you can take eather an elite or fast attack squad from the eldar book, or dark eldar warriors. (They will be using your elite slot.) (They also unlock the wasp hunter walker for each corsear. It uses the troop slot. (No it may nottake objectives.) Also, the jetbikes are in, with scout.))
There are also quite a lott of jump pack troops who get the tau "double jump" feature + rerentless. Thebasic one can get 2 rerentles missile launchers and fusion guns (meltaguns.)
***
My first thought is that BS 4 seems quite good. My second thought is that while some of the jump pack nits seems good, jump pack os frowned upon (unless you play BA with a 3+\Feel no pain.) Also, there seems to be a lott of good ways to build this armylist, but they all demands speed as they eather have jump packs or have transports.
There is no person who gives +1 to reserve rolls, so you will have a problem reserving everything. Also they have axess to some AV 10 and 11 flyers. However, withouth the flying rules they are poor outside of appocalypse. (Perhaps 6th edition will introduce flyers ass many armies have axess to flying models. I for once would be ipressed if the harpy got flying.)
Anyway, what do people think? And what builds do you think look good. Are there any builds that should be avoided because it would be quite good? (Scoring Falcon spam for instance.)
- Merry ristmas.

Well, nice models. Tournaments here do not allow FW models. However, I'd be inclined to run them as normal Guardians squads.

Well that is a good point.
I do feel that the eldar range is quite good model vice.
I supose your very same tournament organisers do not allow FW army lists eather. ;-)
I would just love to se an army of boats of all sort rolling out.
One or two dark eldar raiders with the sails would look good among all the other boats\aircrafts. With the night spinner being placed in fast attack and the falcon in the decicated transports you would se a lott of diferent boats and not just a fire prisem spam. (They can not take the fire prisem btw.)

My Imperial Armour book is not arrived yet, but I thin I will fal in love wit those corsair. I don't like the helmet, but troops with jump pack, troop walkers, Venoms, Night Spinners and Dark Eldar in the same list will be amazing.

I do not think there is many things in there that you can not runn as an eldar if you include imperial armour apocalypse second edition: In that book they included a "40K aproved" stamp on some of the units that you can use outside of apocalypse. I do think that moast of them are balanced.
However what the Corsairs let you do is first shift around on the army organisation chart. Moast units also cost a bit more and have BS4. The HQ's are not power houses. You have 2 flyers in the army list but they are not so good outside of apocalypse I think since they do not have the flying rules.
There are 3 colour schemes. I think they looked good.
However one thing I think I can like is the visual when they are on the battlefield. They would look pretty sweet.

You seem to have Jump Packs and Jet Packs confused. Corsairs have the latter, which instead of a 12" move grant them Relentless and a 6" move in the assault phase like Eldar Jetbikes.
So Corsairs can jump 6" out of cover, fire their Shuriken Cannons or EMLs and then jump 6" back into cover. Like Crisis Suits, but it's your whole army doing it.

I sort of lump them together.
Although they can jump behind cover again, the terain we usualy use is rather low, so I a not so shure the bilaty to hide behind something will be so relevant. (Unles I hide behind falcons etc.)
