I'd actually disagree simply on the basis that melee sucks in Pay Day 2. It's gotten better since launch certainly, but when the enemies you fight can practically down you in two or three strikes, wailing on them with a stick is completely worthless. Even the melee build is super gimmicky and not useful in the higher difficulties.

The few 'overpowered' melee weapons, are really the only weapons that make melee viable. The toothpick and trench knife work because you can span the blasted things out super fast and hit an enemy for over 100 damage before they even melee you back.

I don't see the point of meele'ing at all. You deal more damage at the same time with regular weapons and you normally don't even come close to situations where you run out of ammo.

Eh, to each their own I guess. I find myself meleeing fairly rarely as it is, so I prefer concealment over pure power.

Depends entirely on what guns you're using. My streetsweeper with HE rounds only has a clip of 12. Granted, my CAR-4 is rocking a 60 round clip I think, but there are times when I do run out of ammo loaded and REALLY need to take someone down.

Or turning a corner while trying to reload and a swat guy drops in front of me. That's happened a few times.

Probably work

I use most of the melee weapons as desperation moves more than anything. I like the boxing gloves for the novelty. They made me chuckle. Generally I'm either doing brass knuckles out of wanting concealment or if I know I'm going loud (i.e. I'm playing with other people), I grab the Spear of FREEEEEDOM.

That said, the shilleilagh is wonderful for knockdowns, which is useful at times.

Knocking enemies down makes them more susceptible to the Mastermind's ability to take them hostage/convert them though. So that's nice.

Yeah, that's exactly my line of thinking. Melee weaponry is, by no means, necessary, so the rule of cool takes places and if you don't take the Spear of Freedom, you clearly don't like freedom. Why don't you like freedom?

i like the toothbrush because well its a toothbrush.

i am really enjoying my dodge build, i will not be able to go akimbo yet but i really like running around grabbing bags and hostages and playing first aid kit fairy.

I stopped using the CAR-4 because while i had loads of ammo i just wasn't downing stuff fast enough, so i went M308 and man that thing is like a mule kick to the face.

Akimbo and Dodge is just outright broken. Super fast, extremely high damage and top-notch survivability. Flash Grenades are annoying as hell, same as Cloakers, but other than that, you're nigh-immortal.

Eleven new mystery achievements have been added to the game, which say the following in Croatian: "Željezo se kuje dok je vruce." which means, "Forge while the iron is hot" and "Cega nema, ne mose se ni uzeti" meaning "Never ventured, nothing gained".

So we may very well be seeing our first non-Overkill heist soon.

I love the fact that all the security guards are male, and no ones notices when Clover answers the pagers.

Sometimes she tries to put on a heavier voice, but feth it, I think the operator on the other side can't even be arsed to pay attention.

I'm pretty sure that Pay Day takes place in an apocalyptic future where the economy has crashed, explaining why the roads of DC are so abandoned cause there's like, hardly anyone there and no one is driving cars. The US has become a police state because 80% of the population appears to be in law enforcement. Guns are obviously illegal which is why they're so insanely expensive. Banks can't even afford decent security.

About the only people doing well are the ones at the funeral home, where the steady stream of dead people killed in bank robberies has turned them into the last millionaires on earth

Honestly I'd like to play as her more than that guy. She seems a bit more interesting as a character.

We'll see, she'll be doing the briefings for those new jobs though.

Also, new character, new skills or perk deck maybe?

They can still flesh out a character without making her playable.

I'd argue that Bain's character is more fleshed out than most of the other heisters just based on the sheer amount of dialogue he has that characterizes him. That said, I hate Bain so it's not exactly a win.

Funny enough, I think in most cases we know more about the contacts than the player characters.

Well now, the guy playing Dragan is a proper convicted bank robber, a Taekwondo champion, director, actor and runs a gym called Extreme Training in Sweden.

edit.

We'll soon be seeing more of this as well:
