They have a very clear new design to them and yet I can still see the hallmarks of the designs from Spartan Games. A really great way to update and refresh the line*. I really look forward to seeing these models in the flesh!
Plastic is also very interesting news and I really hope it does well. Whilst I admit that I like working with resin, good quality plastic can be good fun to work with. I've got Battlefleet Gothic and Dropfleet models here which clearly show the fantastic detailing that high quality plastics can achieve.
I'd say my only worry with plastic is moudlines. In my experiences high detail models are a "nightmare" with regard to mould lines. Resin is often a little easier just because the material is that bit softer and a touch easier to work at small areas over (though its still a nightmare). Then again ships seemed to always be very easy to work with as the mould line nearly always was around the base of the model; an area that could not only be easier to deal with, but also often held less detail so any damage and cleaning was a lot easier to work with.
I hope this carries through to the new designs and casting (as much as is practical and possible). For me one of the joys of Dystopian Wars and many other SGs was that cleaning up the models was often pretty easy and simple. No huge headaches or having to be super careful with files and blades going around corners and over netting/webbing/buckles and other fine pattern details and suchlike.
I not thrilled by any of the new designs either, they just look a bit too busy and fantastical. But really glad to hear the old stuff will be made available, warcradle are sure to get some of my money in June.
I just hope some of the stuff from the Kickstarter seems the light of day.
it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

Not keen on the new designs myself, seems like moving more and more away from the alt-history of Dystopian Wars and into the sillier territory of WWX. As to plastic, it would be impossible to get some of the fine details of the resin models in plastic without mould lines making an absolute mess of it. The ships will have to be more exaggerated and 'heroic' to compensate.

Agreed not all mini's will work in plastic, but a competitively priced plastic starter would be a huge boost for the new edition.
Besides as long as the old stuff is still available it's a win win.
I realized there is one concept i liked the look of, the giant cyborg whale for the CoA. Hope they pull that one off (I.e. A waterlined version, not some flying through the air fish AoS style bs)
it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

Warcradle held a Q&A session today via Facebook and Twitch, where they put out all kinds of new information and some new renders as well. You can find the original video here, and below I’ve summarized the notes I took during the session. Note that these are my notes, and not a direct transcription of what was said during the Q&A; as such, don’t take everything I’ve said below as 100% gospel truth! At the end of the post, you can also find the renders that they put up on screen during the discussion. I haven’t included the WWX renders, as I forgot to screen-shot them! Anyway, here is what I took down:

v.WC is trying to get things as polished as possible in Alpha
vi.Players will be able to give feedback, and changes may be made to the rules before release based on that feedback.
2.Exploding D6 A.Its an ingrained mechanic

3.Plastics? A.Yes, WC is working on plastic ships. i.WC wants to make plastics a part of the DW line going forward.
ii.Want to make the plastics as good as possible so they will last the test of time.
4.Any DWars concept art? A.French battleship i.Some details and elements are more exaggerated/weighted due to it being concept art vice a mini
ii.DA will be a little more stylized, but WC is working to try and make sure that the new ships will visually blend with the older Spartan ones.

The first of the Cor Caroli to walk the Earth, Maraka leads her Divine Intervention to deliver humanity from the clutches of the Hex.Fighting alongside their leader are the powerful warriors Haan, Vulana, Mithun and Siraj, each encased in heavy armour and wielding a variety of advanced weaponry.

Great Elk are one of the Greater Beasts employed by the Warrior Nation in times of dire need. Great Elk are created by a combination of a willing animal and the spirit energy of a dozen shamans, it is not unheard of for an elderly or infirm shaman to die in the process of binding the spirit to the animal. Unlike other spirit beasts, Great Elk appear to have the ability to sustain themselves in spite of the massive energies coursing through them. Great Elk are thunderous charging walls of corded muscle and are used to break the backs of the more technologically advanced machines and defences of their enemies.
