Now my friend and I have not had a chance to play a game in a long time and my friend was using my deathwing army since he was visiting. I have some thoughts on things he should have done differently to change the outcome or to change the game in general.

Vindicator moved up popped smoke.
3 Term squads moved up
1 Sqaud shot at anihillation barge and living metal ignored
1 Sqaud shot at command barge and failed to do anything



Necron Turn 1:
Annihilation Barge fired but failed to kill anything.
Ghost Ark Killed 1 Terminator
Other Ghost Ark Killed 1 Terminator
Doomsday Ark Killed vindicator




DW Turn 2:
2 Squads failed to do any damage
1 Squad shook annihilation barge
Charged command barge, 1 glance and 2 pens. Imoblized and weapon destroyed, living armor ignored shaken. Overlord took wound to ignore immoblized.



Necrons Turn 2:
Overlord hit terminators on fly by but terminators made save.
Ghost ark double tapped at terminators and killed 2.
Doomsday Ark killed 1 termiantor.
Ghost ark puts a wound on belial.




DW Turn 3:
Pens Ghost Ark and destroys gauss array.
Pens command barge and overlord takes wound to ignore immoblized
Destroys other Ghost ark that was not damaged.
Shakes Ghost ark with 1 array.



Necrons Turn 3:
2 Terminators are shot to death
Overlord charges and kills off one squad.



DW Turn 4:




Necron Turn 4:
Shoot and kills 4 warriors, 3 get back up.
Belial knocks 2 down and takes a wound. 2 more are killed from powerfist, 1 gets up.
Overlord kills assault cannon terminator that failed mindshakle scarab test and then dies.


DW Turn 5:
Kills ghost ark with chain fist.
Belial dies in melee.

Necron Turn 5:
Shot terminator.
Crytpek dies to last terminator and squad fails leadership test.



End of game:
Roll for turn 6 fails.

Game results 4-4 tie game (as per discussion below)

Closing thoughts. DW should have deepstruck to prevent getting shot as much at range. This list was not ideal at 1000 points with this many vehicles on the Necron side. Hope you enjoyed the slide show and comments on events.

Great looking table! I don't agree that a DS would have been ideal, but he should have focus fired more than he did. ML's do have a hard time getting through AV 13 tho

He had assault cannons instead of ML but thats because that's how I typically run my terminators. Yea that was the other option to go one side with the entire army and make me deploy first would have helped him some too. Also had him setup terrain but he didn't put enough LOS blocking terrain up in my opnion. I have mountains we should have used.

Annihilation. But going by kps I got 4 as necrons he got 1 as dw. 1 squad was running but had a guy left. That is assuming dedicated transports give 0 kp's

First off, I have to say that this was great report with tons of awesome pictures! The table looks fantastic! It's really cool to see a well-done Realm of Battle board!

Two minor rules quibbles, though:
1. Falling back squads count as destroyed at game end
2. Dedicated transports do count for KPs (otherwise Razorspam would be unstoppable)

Good game, good report.

The only way to reliably deal with terminators other than plasma shots (which necrons don't really have) is just volume of fire. I believe you did quite well considering only one of your weapons (the DD ark) ignored their 2+ saves.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

This is why I'm an advocate of TH/SS termie squads with 1 cyclone in each squad. More terminators would survive the shooting to get into CC and with so few models in the army, DW NEED storm shields. I'm not fully up on the new necron rules but from what I recall, a lot of the necron vehicles have low AP weaponry - again, storm shields.

Actually I think I only made him fail 1 invun save. Most of the losses were to non power weapons ap4 shots.

While I know its tough at 1k points, the termie upgrades would have made a huge difference on belials squad. FnP and the Banner make a termie squad go from good to great.

You lose a vindicator to get those upgrades, leaving only enough points for a typhoon speeder, but FnP really makes for a tough termie squad.

FNP upgrade? You mean an apothecary? I thought it was you could reroll one failed save?

The old apothicary used to negate 1 failed save. My old list, which never really saw the table, used multiple apothicaries (2 command squads+belial upgrade)to negate 3 saves/round on any unit within 6 inches. Fun times hehe.

Now, however, with the FAQ the apothicary uses SM rules, giving the squad he is in FnP. FnP on termies is great, just ask Blood Angel players!

I believe Belial will allow you to take one Apothecary in terminator armor. The command squad also lets you take a apothecary, but you cant upgrade anybody in the squad to have TDA.
Sammael also lets you have a biker be an apoth

You only get 1 FnP termie squad. You can get a FnP command squad, and FnP bike squad, but it is best on termies.

Back preFAQ, the apoth upgrade worked on any 1 model within 6 inches that failed a save. So you never had 3 FNP termie squads, but with 3 apoths you could save a max of 3 Termies per turn from any squad in range.

Really? From the way it read the DW seemed to lose a lot to shooting so I assumed they were AP2/AP1 shots. I know necrons can take those tesla guns which generate more hits or something but otherwise that's some impressive shooting from the necrons then!

Double tap and arcs lend 5 or 10 shots a side depending on range against the squad. Necrons can put a lot of shots out.
