on the forum. Obviously

I heard somewhere that GK don't use energy weapons such as plasma and las.
Why? Are demons plasma proof or something?

i play demons and have never heard of them being plasma proof. I guess since they are powerful forces formed into a material being, las and plasma isn't effective enough as the other weapons the GK use. That's just a theory, but other than that, i have no clue.

Well, they don't have access to those weapons on their infantry anyway. They can get those weapons on vehicles.

In game, my GKs don't need Lascannons and Plasma Weapons because massed Psybolt and Psycannon fire does the same job. Psycannons are better then Lascannons against armor and Stormbolters with Psybolts will kill more then a plasma gun will. And if 2+ armor is a problem, well, everyone has a force weapon

The psycannon is both a superior special weapon and heavy weapon, combining anti tank with anti infantry. The shorter range is not so short that they cant complete their mission of killing daemons, and without the risk of overheating that plasma comes with.

Because they use psychicly powered ammunition and custom made storm bolters attached to their wrist.
Why would they use standard weapons when they can have the best that Imeprium had to offer.
And all that ammunition must be baptized first so it can burn the Daemons with Righteous fury.

The Emperor doesn't have a GKs unshakable faith in the Emperor which is....basically himself?

true, why have a plasma gun when you get an op halberd and wrist mounted storm bolter.

Maybe it's difficult to consecrate energy weapons? They already have to consecrate each bolter with the blood of innocents

According to the Titan: God Machine comic you are correct. Solid projectile weapon were more powerful against daemons because of something to do with warp beings being allergic to solid matter or something like that. Also it is harder to sanctify ammo of a energy weapon.

That does make alot of sense.

The Warp is a realm of Energy, Plasma fires energy, I imagine that pure energy is going to hurt less then a material that is foriegn to you.

But one could make the arguement that energy weapons burn so they purge demons. Plus even though the warp is pure energy, I don't think its the same kind of energy that we have in the material world. Remember all laws of science we know in the materium dont apply to the Warp

You're right.
Crunch-wise, the only saves daemons get are invulnerable saves. This is meant to represent their nature of energy beings from beyond reality that makes them almost impervious to mundane weaponry, cinetic or energy guns all alike.

Now, in the Daemon Hunters Codex, psybolt-firing and holy promethium-spouting weapons ignored invulnerable saves. This represented the fact that they are specifically designed to bypass the supernatural resilience of creatures such as daemons.

So there you have it. Grey Knights are completely devoted to the war against daemons and chaos entities, thus they need weapons capable of hurting daemons, and only those weapons.

Plus, plasma guns are known to be a tad unreliable when fired by infantry, and unreliability is not something the Grey Knights can afford.

The freaking 2d6 orbital bombardment scatter dice is way more unreliable! *sorry for the off topic*

True ! But considering it's coming from, well, orbit, it's a little miracle in itself that it doesn't scatter more

(I wouldn't worry about off-topic, seeing as the thread about "the place of fire caste female Tau in their military" has been going on as "do Tau females have bewbz ?" for quite a few pages.)
