Hello again.

Recently I have been trading alot of unwanted stuff and picking up some stuff I needed. In addition, I have traded away some things and picked up some other things I might use. Recently I received a Chimera in the mail. It was pretty nasty to start with. Assembled, missing the turrent, lasguns in rear missing, didn't mind though. The Chimera was assembled pretty rough. Alot of glue, didnt match up along the seams an so on. Wish I took pics to begin with. I started to take apart as much as I could. Used small screwdrivers to pry the back hatch and top piece off. Then, a quick coat of OD green primer, and started to add bits to make something different. Coming up with a turrent was fun, but, came up with what you see below. Basicly the SM turrent, with a sentinel multilaser and added a heavy stubber, (heavy bolter with stubber barrel). Still a WIP, but, soon enough will be done.

Nice work, I like getting the used rescue type vehicles and building from them too. My Sally started as an ugly Basilisk.
By the way, just a small pet peeve - turrent isn't a word

Nice work on the "interior".

I would probably have made it a griffon or something.

I agree with Almarine, it looks like a griffon in the making. But then, there are some more deadly and more effective ordnance that you can build.

Thanks for the idea. I have another "rescue" piece I will be working on. It was a basilisk. Pretty rough shape, thick paint job, missing pieces, that sort of thing. Not sure if I will keep it a basilisk. However, a griffon sounds like fun.

Okay, started working on the Basilisk. From the pics I took, the paint job is a nasty color to me. I started taking it apart, as you can see. Not sure what I am going to use as the heavy mortor, but, thinking the two brackets that hold the earthshaker cannon in place and the battle cannon from the Leman Russ set. Just taking it apart and getting it ready.

Thank you, my good man, for adopting these two homeless little tanks instead of buying new ones. Because of you, these two tanks now have a chance at redeeming themselves and living a happy, meaningful life in an army. You should be honored for such generosity!

In all seriousness, the Salamander looks pretty good. Also, to bulk up the Griffon's cannon, you could try to attach the battle cannon to the thick base of the Basalisk's gun.

More or less yes...Great, we've gone from cheap resin substitutes to weapons banned by the geneva convention...

Thank you for the complements so far. Yes, it was fun just giving two tanks a new home and a new start at their career in my IG army. Seeing as how I did not realy have the parts to make a good looking Chimera, just figured I would try a variant that would be allowed at the local store. The Basilisk was just too far gone to go back as one. Also the comments of other posters just gave me the idea of the Griffon mortar. Seeing as how I don't have to go back to work for another week, I just kept working at it till it was mostly done tonight. I am going to order this: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440253a&prodId=prod1290051

That is what I am going to use for the driver (not what is pictured). Also, the radio will most likely go on the Salamander. So, these two projects were sponsored by a bunch of bits laying around and also, used up a fair amount of bits that I have from other tanks. So, here are the final, somewhat pictures: And, the next project, a squad of Valhallans. Think they will be warm around my Catachan and Cadians.
