Hi all, I've got a hankering to build a terminator army and I've got a couple of options: standard Lysander-esque (not Lysander himself, I abhor special characters) w/5 assault cannon termie squads and two teleport homer scouts plus some speeders or dustwing with 27 TS termies and 2 units of 6 flamers along with an uber demon prince. Which would be more powerful and which would be more thematically/comp friendly list?

Oh, and if anyone has ~25 terminators of any variety that they don't want, I'm in the market for a bunch.

cheers

Well if you take the basic Lysander wing army it will work pretty well, but frankly if you do it take lysander. . .

I personally think that the Thousand son terminators would be fun but you might have issues because you can't upgrade the basic terminator weaponry at all, all you can do is upgrade the aspiring champion, I already made up one of these lists so you might want to take a look. . .

I went for 4 squads of 9 flamers, a demon prince in terminator armor with bolt of change and a strength 6 power weapon, and 2 terminator squads with aspiring champions with bolt of change and strength 6 power weapons. . .

Also remember you don't get the bonus attack for charging with the TS terminators,

If it's a dust wing, no one should be complaining. Anyone who complains about thousand sons should be given a job at GW.

"I've still got a job, so the rules must be good enough" - Design team motto.

Lysander's a lot more competitive, but the TKs make a much better looking army imho. Imperial fists are among the better looking marine armies, but the Lysander wing played right just looks weird. The two small troop squads it generally fields will look kind of like a dangling booger

Comp is such a subjective thing, I'd suggest asking your local player base how they feel about those armies and in general ones that are light on troops. I know a few tournament vets locally still feel that taking less then 40% in troops and having less troops then anything else is aginst the spririt of the rules (even though GW has pretty much done away with that in their own rules packets). Because I'm practically garaunteed to face one of them in a torunament, I personally avoid top heavy armies.

So I guess what I'm saying is you should be asking local players, not dakka tough guys.

snoogums: "Just because something is not relavant doesn't mean it goes away completely."

Iorek: "Snoogums, you're right. Your arguments are irrelevant, and they sure as heck aren't going away."

The stupid thing is though that there are numerous armies out there that are going to prefer fighting these style armies which you won't get credit for yet you are going to be called for cheese by people who either have bad lists to deal with this or are just too intimidated by so many 2+ saves.
As long as you're not someone who is taking the every single advantage by trying to find loopholes in the rule book and trying to move units more then they should or something silly like that I wouldn't blink an eyelid at this list. Most people get called for cheese more so because of who they are and what they represent, not just their list.
