This is my first time writing up a transaction report, and hopefully the last, so if I made any mistakes I apologize. I have made many deals here on dakkadakka, bartertown, and hundreds times more on ebay, and for the first time I have had not one but 2 deals go wrong here on dakka. The other deal is already in the process of being worked out and now it is time for this one.
So on 1/06/12 I got a message from Dashootyestgit saying this.

That same day (1/06/12) we messaged each other back and forth, then he sent me this message later that night he told me that he would appreciate if I could pay him by the next morning because he was shipping out some IG things for another guy and he did not want to make 2 trips. I told him I would pay him by morning and he sent me this message.

The fool that I was thinking that nothing bad could happen to me paid by way of other. Never do this , paypal will not let you file a claim because it was not via the purchase of goods!!

He sent me this message (1/07/12) after I asked if he shipped it out aok.

I sent DaGit a message on 1/18/12 asking him for that tracking number that he never sent me and he sent me this.

Wait he said the $140 included tracking # and I thought that insurance always came with a tracking number?

So I sent DaGit a message asking him if he had any news on my items, and he told me he would ask his mail man, and then the next day he sent me this.(1/19/12)

He sent me a message later that night saying I should see something at my door in the next 2-3 days.

Well 5 days went by and I asked him basically WTF, he said he did not know and that he would refund me if I wanted that. I felt bad for fliping out on him so I told him I could wait another day or two just to make sure it was not coming. So I waited then the end of the week came I told him I would like my refund then on 1/27/12 he sent me this.

I made a trade with Dashootyestgit aswell, I am still in the waiting period so I cannot say that he cheated me. However he told me he was shipping from CT, but yet he is from AL according to his own post. The Tracking Number he gave me (Fedex) says From NY to AL and coincidentally its shipping to the same city he posted he was in at AL, so why would he have a tracking number for locations he is not from which makes me think that he is not in CT like he said.

Long story short if he lied about his location that makes me not belief that I am getting anything especially when his response is that he has lots of tracking numbers on his desk but then never attempted to give me the real one.

I have an update he as gotten back to me and assures me he shipped and has explained the State situation so perhaps this is a non issue for me, also he said that he sent a refund so perhaps this will all work out. I will keep this updated.

Well he has not messaged me at all today, I told him I would make it easier on him and I requested money via paypal to save him the trouble of refunding.

I got an update from him today saying he shipped on the 27th for the trade we finalized on the 21 so I think things are good.

Just to step in here and point something out:

Getting delivery confirmation (basically a tracking number) on a USPS Priority mail package costs about 75 cents - nowhere near $15. And I ship things almost exclusively with flat rate priority mail and tracking numbers, so I know what I'm talking about with that.

All sounds a bit too fishy to me. Hope you get everything sorted out though.

I had a large trade set for his orks and super heavy that were listed on his trade thread.
He requested that the trade be broken into two segments so he wasnt putting all his eggs in one basket.
I requested pictures from him and received numerous pictures of different sizes and backgrounds, none of which were the same.
Also in these pictures, were models that he did not offer in the trade. (ie 4 deff koptas and in the picture were 6)
I agreed to the trade and asked that he would ship first. He agreed and said it would be in the mail the next day.
Dagit contacted me 4 days later asking to renegotiate the trade. I denied and cancelled the trade.

What is the waiting period for a transaction report? Ive had mine prepared for two days now since dashootyest states it was sent priortiy, its been 5 days since he said it was shipped, and basically keeps stalling with the DC. How long do you need to wait?

Also, if you look at his profile...it says he has added porkuslime as a friend. Might wanna ask him (he is an admin on Bartertown) if he knows this guy or has dealt with him before. I did see Dashootyest get got at least one good trade too

He added porkuslime but porkuslime did not add him. When i first saw that he had porkuslime has a friend I assumed he was an okay person to deal with but..

Careful there...despite this being a transaction report, that comes perilously close to name-calling, etc. Try to keep it professional. The mods will call you out on that.

I did warn Dashootyestgit that I would give him till 02/02/2011 before I posted. Sure hope he follows through on this...

Not exactly sure where you saw this Mello, but Insurance is usually determined by the value of the contents, and charged as an additional fee. I ship using USPS all the time, and having an online account has helped simplify a lot of my mailing woes. For starters, if you use an online account, USPS includes their tracking number for all Priority Mail services. And like Mello also cited, tracking on any package when paid for in person at the PO is only $0.75. Not sure where Dagit got $15 from at all. I also find it highly suspicious that he paid for the insurance INSTEAD of the tracking, considering the cost to insure $1 worth of delivered goods is about $2, more than twice the amount to send it with tracking.

At any rate, I digress... Cherokee, I hope that you and all the other Dakka users that dealt with this individual are able to work out your differences peaceably.

If anyone hears from DaGit let me know please, I think he has cut off communication with me.

Like I said he sent me a message yesterday stating that he shipped of a load of packages.

Captain, you can just post everything in this thread so that the people dealing with Dashootyestgit can coordinate their efforts.

As jason2250 points out, if he does not complete these trades (and it seems Highly likely that he is not planning to) he is committing mail fraud. Hopefully he realizes the seriousness of this and changes his mind, but if he sent pictures of models that were not his, he may be unable to complete the trades, anyway.

Did any of you pay by Paypal, not sent as a gift, and can file a dispute?

I never do Paypal gifting anymore. Ill pay a little extra to cover the fees just to make sure I can dispute it. If, as I said, he doesnt get something figured out by the 2nd of February, Ill be adding my Transaction Report to this post.

Ill be getting my money back, but the minis are...lost...

I recently made a trade with Dash, and he has yet to send my stuff, but he said that he was going to send it out tomorrow via priority mail so ill now soon enough.

I sent money over paypal under the goods option, but I was reading in the dakka help guide that if he empties out his bank account paypal would not be able to get it back. I do have a question though When I first started using paypal at first it held the money for 30 days since I was new, does it do that still? because if he is new the money is possibly being held I think?? and would be easy to dispute I think?

But its all speculation as he said he shipped and that the tracking number is lost among many other numbers.

It wont matter...he is still legally responsible to pay that money. Plus we actually have 45 days...and I dont think the money is actually being "held". He has it...but we can get it back!

That's really unacceptable... I would advise anyone in this situation to file a Paypal dispute now. You can wait on escalating it to a claim, and of course cancel if you do receive what is supposed to have been sent, but it seems unlikely to happen at this point based on the number of people who are waiting on packages, none of whom have received anything from what I've seen posted here.

And to chime in here..

Dashootyestgit does have me listed as a friend.. BUT I got NO clue who he is.

He and I did start to get into a deal, but that deal did NOT happen. We never got to the "exchange addresses" portion of the deal, and I decided to not persue it further. Something about his responses did not "feel right".

So, we parted ways, and 1-2 days later the Machine Spirit informs me that I was Friended.

I didn't think much on it.. when I asked why he did, the answer that I remember getting was "In case you list something I want" or something similar..

I have looked, and there is no way that I spot to "unfriend" someone who has added you as a pal. Lego has confirmed that once someone has Friended me (or you) there is not much I can do about it. I can unfriend someone *I* originally Friended, but not an inbound Friend..

I don't endorse trading with him, and I suspect that I was Friended specifically to give him some level of legitimacy, albeit fraudulent.

Just an update here...looked at the address provided to ship to and there are a couple of businesses running out of that place. One is through a Distributor and the other is a private business. I do have a phone number for the private business now. This may be incorrect as the address given was lot 104. However, Google Maps shows the address I entered as having this business based out of this address.

I *think* posting a business contact information is OK, but I will check... if it has to be edited out, people can always PM you for it. Remember that posting any personal address or phone number is not permitted (you can, however, offer to have people PM you for that information).

Alright as you know I paid via other. But I called paypals customer services and the nice lady there opened a dispute for me and if he does not message them back in 10 days I get refunded.

This is not true. Paypal will try to tell you it is, but you've got to be pushy with them. I've seen it work.

If you look in the TOS, you'll see that they have the right to debit your bank accounts for negative balances. You have to agree to that before they let you have an account. By virtue of this rule, they CAN debit his PayPal account, causing a theoretical negative, then debit his bank account for the amount. They don't WANT to do it, though, because (a) they don't want to get involved/do the work any more than they have to and (b) there's always the chance that they don't get thier money back.

Also, they CAN allow you to file reports on "gift" payments. Someone on Bartertown did it before. If you can provide proof that it was for a purchase and just tell them you didn't realize there was a difference (you were just following his request), you should be able to talk your way into it. The key here is to be firm, insistent and -if required- ask to speak to the dept manager (and then their manager, etc if needed).

I made a deal with him last week. He said he would send a tracking number but so far has not. He has also not been responding to my PM's. After reading this thread I am also getting a little nervous. I'll give him a few more days and if not then I'll be filing a dispute with paypal.

I also made a trade with him. He responded to my post and offered some bits for my bits. He was prompt in returning messages.. until I told him I shipped out his bits. He has not responded to my PMs since.

Wow. I just looked and I have a deal pending with him too. I sent him $40 for some WHFB chariots. He said he was shipping them out late last week, so I am still in that "normal" waiting time.

However, after reading this I am kind of nervous.
