Pg 49 it says "Once all attacks have been resolved, these characters are once again treated as normal members of the unit that they have joined (from determining assault results onwards)."
So when working out the results of a lost combat, if I have a unit with an IC attached, do the unit AND the IC each take a morale test, or do I just take one test for both the unit and attached IC?
I know IC's are teated as seperate units when allocating attacks in combat, but the above rule suggest he is part of the unit again for the purpose of morale check and possibly being sweeping.
Can anyone help me understand this correctly please? I'm sure this will have been asked before so apologies but I could not find an answer searching

One all attacks are resolved, the IC and unit are one again, therefore you would take only 1 morale test for the whole unit.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Once the attacks are resolved, they stop being treated as separate units. One test.

That is correct as the others have said, the IC is part of the unit again for the purpose of morale checks and Sweeping Advance.

Also for morale check you use the highest leadership, so most likely your IC even if the majority of the squad are lower ld then he is.

so what happens if there is an IC in a squad that is fearless and loses combat in CC ?

Does the IC take wounds Separate from the unit he is in or do they take them together ?

example if the unit lost by 3 does the IC take 3 saves and the unit 3 ? or just 3 total ?

So he's a normal member of the unit. If the unit isn't Fearless, then you make a morale test. If it is, the unit takes 3 wounds to allocate and save against.

rigeld has it.

An IC is fully a member of the unit during movement, and shooting. Then, during the assault phase, he is a full member of the unit through moving assaulting units and defenders react. After that, he is treated as an entirely separate unit during the fighting, but then becomes part of the unit again for Resolve the combat and on.

See the box on page 33 of BGB. He's part of the unit for steps 1 and 2, and all of 3 except the second bullet point.
