Unhealthy Competition With Other Legions

Urban Mammoth are beginning to accept applications for their new Legion demo team program. The Legion is a support program that rewards gamers for demonstrating and promoting the Urban War Second Edition game and running events as part of the Organized Play program.
Gamers start out in one of the four worldwide legions (Tenth (X) "Britannia" Legion- United Kingdom, Second (II) "America" Legion- North & South America, Eighth (VIII) "Europa" Legion, Fourth (IV) "World" Legion) as an Auxilia and increase in rank as they organize more events and demos. Legion members gain Imperial Credits for each event run and they can use them to gain access to exclusive products that will include T-shirts and unique legionary Stat cards for all factions. Imperial Credits will also give you a discount on promotional items, and exclusive miniatures as well as access to new releases prior to general release. The higher your rank, the more credits you gain for each event.
The Legion program rewards you for sharing your love of Urban War and gives you the tools and motivation to help expand your local gaming community and create interesting and exciting events for your community to participate in.
Details on how to join the program and the requirements for it are available on the Urban War website.

Urban War is a sci-fi 28mm skirmish game set in a human dominated future universe that is being beset by an alien race called the Koralon as well as the Syntha a "race" of androids, cyborgs and artificial intelligences.
The game uses stat cards but they aren't necessary to play the game and are just a convenient way to keep the stats for models handy.
It is a single-model skirmish game in that you activate single models instead of units. The game has an alternating activation system and each model is given either an Overwatch or Snap Fire order which limits a model's possible actions when activated.
The game uses D10s instead of D6s to allow for a wider range of possible stats on models and a wider range of dice results. Models in the game can be slightly better at shooting or close combat and it has an actual impact in the game letting you have a wider range of similar yet different units.
The site has free Quick Start rules as well as stat cards for each of the starter sets so you can give the game a try with some proxy models using the basic rules.

Interesting.
Thanks for the info.
Is there a campaign mode, where your forces gain experience, etc. Or is it more like 40K, WHFB, and WM/Hordes, where you just build an army and fight?
Thanks.

There is no official campaign rules. Some models in each force can be purchased at a differing Calibre level that gives them additional actions and bonuses to close combat.
There are 24 different scenarios for download on the site ( http://www.urbanwarthegame.com/support-downloads-english.php) and the Organized Play program ( http://www.urbanwarthegame.com/community-tournament_types.php) has Special Operation events that have scenario specific goals that can add some interesting twists to tournament play as well as upcoming League rules.
So short answer long :-) the game is more similar to 40K than it is to Necromunda but it does have a model count much closer to Necromunda than 40K.

wow. I almost forgot about the game.
Played Void 1 way back when it first came out. Glad to see it didn't fall off the earth.
Going to have to look back into these new looking guys.
Amazing find, thanks for the post here.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

Wait. So, Urban War is a remake of Void?
Not that this predisposes me against it. I never played Void.

Not quite. Metropolis, the mass combat system set in the UW universe could be referred to as a VOID 2.0 to a degree, but UW is small scale skirmish with rules a bit more detailed at an individual model level.

No. Urban War Second Edition is set in the same universe as and uses the same faction as the original Void game. Urban War deals with individual models instead of units and has a much, much smaller model count. Automatically Appended Next Post: Grot 6 wrote:Amazing find, thanks for the post here.
My pleasure :-)
If you have figs already check out the Quick Start rules and the stat card PDFs as they will give you a quick idea of what the new game is like.
