Intriguing promo clip for Prometheus, the content of which won't be in the final film. Note that it appears to be set in 2023, presumably some time before interstellar space travel comes around...

I LIKE THAT GUY!!!!
He's the male version of the future Genghis Connie! Fear her greatness (and legions of fanatical wiener dogs) For the Great Wienerdog and the Wienergeddon!

Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

There is some text that goes along with the short:

Peter Weyland has been a magnet for controversy since he announced his intent to build the first convincingly humanoid robotic system by the end of the decade.

Whether challenging the ethical boundaries of medicine with nanotechnology or going toe to toe with the Vatican itself on the issue of gene-therapy sterilization, Sir Peter prides himself on his motto, “If we can, we must.” After a three year media blackout, Weyland has finally emerged to reveal where he’s heading next. Wherever that may be, we will most certainly want to follow.

This looks awesome.

Why do all the bad guys in Hollywood have to be British though? Well, I know why, but still... Enough already! It was more than 200 years ago!

I almost always agree with Albatross, I can't see why anyone wouldn't.

Wow just looked it up on IMDB and Guy Pearce and he is indeed a Brit, didn't know after all those years thinking he was an Aussie!

Film looks great, I'm glad Ridley Scott decided to put something other than the banana-head aliens, think the scares from them have pretty much been exhausted now.

wasn't it Bishop that was really Weyland or something? That guy Guy is great, but can anyone be Bishop besides Mr. Henrickson?

I saw a post about this somewhere else. Apparently Charles Bishop Weyland replaces Peter in 2030 after he died/disappeared or something. He is also the one that merges Weyland with Yutani after taking control at some point.

Spoiler:
“ One of the things I enjoyed most about Alien was its subtle satirical content. Science fiction films offer golden opportunities to throw in little scraps of information that suggest enormous changes in the world. There's a certain potency in those kinds of remarks. Weylan Yutani for instance is almost a joke, but not quite. I wanted to imply that poor old England is back on its feet and has united with the Japanese, who have taken over the building of spaceships the same way they have now with cars and supertankers. In coming up with a strange company name I thought of British Leyland and Toyota, but we couldn't use "Leyland-Toyota" in the film. Changing one letter gave me "Weylan," and "Yutani" was a Japanese neighbor of mine. ”

For fun, here is the Japanese name for the company: ウェイランド湯谷

There has been some discussion that the timelines and names most people are used to are useless, since Ridley, at best, only considers Alien and Aliens as sources.

Yeah its close enough but its interesting to note Weylan Yutani is never mentioned in Alien - its simply "The Company".
In additon Weyland Yutani was the creation of James Cameron for Aliens, he added the D to Weylan and ran with the idea of Yutani after it, creating the now infamous logo.

Also the Japanese feel of Yutani was mirrored (almost subsonsiouly) by the suit designer Mobious (sp?) in Alien. Scott felt they looked almost like ancient suits of Japanese armor.

Spoiler:

Intriguing viral btw, very well done. It'll be interesting to see where Scott takes the film, Im a rabid Alien fan so heres to hoping.
