They just couldn't just leave them as the mysterious gang that no one actually knows anything about.

I always liked the ambiguous stuff interesting old lore about them. Were they chaos??? Were they xenos??? The fleshing out made kinda more sense for the other gangs, but GW can't leave well enuff alone.

You've now got me wondering how hard it would be to port the solo mode from Fallout over to Necromunda...

Probably no effort at all. GW just doesn't want to be bothered with solo play beyond a WH community article.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

Any suggestions for other available games that are Solo orientated and would be easy to port over Necromunda?

Pay 23% more for literally nothing (and then shipping on top of that!) and then we'll talk.

Cool and thanks. I really like the overall aesthetics of the Van Saar line. Is that really flak armor in Necromunda? I'm not familiar with mesh per se in 40k but that coverage and protection (from the front at least) looks better than Kasrkin carapace even before the high tech nature I assume it has is factored in compared with IG standardized equipment.

As for the arachnirig, it's definitely cool but I'd have preferred using the pilots legs for locomotion instead of the quasi gyro baby carrier it got. The rest looks impressive and frankly not particularly 40kish to me. Ymmv.

Uggh, did they actually only include one rad gun and one plasma gun? Because I'm pretty sure you can replace all 4 arms with guns. The Ambot come with 2 gravfists to replace both claws just the same. At least give 2 plasma gun because they can shoot twice and no one will ever take the rad gun for the same cost unless troll.

Very expensive! Didn't think the Ambot would cost that much. The champions are fair so I guess it's a balance.

Inside I'm thinking this is a price increase to payback for last week's price mistake on the Cawdor items.

That's not how it is written in the rulebook, that's the store description as they only give you 1.

A Van Saar Arachni-rig Servo-suit may replace one servo-arm with a plasma gun.
Doing so will reduce its Attacks characteristic by 1

In case you were wondering, the artwork show dual rad gun

Yeah. I don't have the digital book to hand at the time.

Copy and pasted from HoA (I use Adobe Digital Editions for ePub files):
Options
• A Van Saar Arachni-rig Servo-suit may replace one servo-arm with a rad gun. Doing so will reduce its Attacks characteristic by 1
• A Van Saar Arachni-rig Servo-suit may replace one servo-arm with a plasma gun. Doing so will reduce its Attacks characteristic by 1
• A Van Saar Arachni-rig Servo-suit may upgrade its light carapace armour to heavy carapace armour

Interpret that as you see fit. I read it how the model comes though, choosing each option just once.

Thanks! The lift off position of the foot made it look more digitigrade like an animal foot than a human style one but in retrospect it is also in the art as well.

I'd post a Phoenix Wright objection withdrawn gif but, to my surprise, I can't find one!

I'm aware of solo play rules for skirmish level games (i.e. procedural rules for moving enemy models about) in 5 Parsecs from Home (7 or 8 different AI "types"), Stargrave (pretty simple logic on when to move and when to attack, but leads to tactical ineptitude in the enemy), Horizon Wars (uses a pack of cards), Operation Last Train (simple move/attack logic). One could probably co-opt the Blackstone Fortress rules as well (D20 roll against table of options for different unit archetypes) with a bit of modification of the movement rules from hex-based to normal tabletop distances.

For the other important bits in a campaign, such as earning creds and experience, just apply the normal Necromunda rules for scenarios.

The difficulty might be more around management of the other gangs that you fight against. However, 5 Parsecs and Stargrave have methods of generating OPFOR on the fly for those battles, which could probably be ported over easily. You just might need to tune the difficulty as your gang gets more powerful by keeping enemy weapons on a par with your own, or adding more mooks.

- edit - Also, all of these rule sets are either cheap or free! You should even be able to pick up the BSF action cards super cheap on e-bay from people just after the models

Well, I would put Five Parsecs from Home forward but I'm still digesting the rule book. It seems like a natural choice though, and I had solo-munda in mind when I bought it.

Stargrave + Frostgrave: Perilous Dark is recommended. Stargrave is a similar experience to Necromunda( you're there for the campaign ) but a much easier game to learn and play. Perilous Dark - giving you fair warning - is a solo-coop expansion for Frostgrave but in practice its more of a game designer's guide on how to add solo-coop to skirmish games in general. This makes it very compatible with other games even providing ideas for 40K and AoS. It took a bit of reworking but I found the Ambot Hunt scenario easy enough to port to Stargrave.

Also, take a look at Sam Pearson's AoS solo-coop campaigns on Warhammer Community, along with the Ambot scenario( I can't recall who wrote that one ).

Either way, there are a wealth of ideas to help you design your own solo experience...

Here's one to get you started; just go for a simple three-mission campaign, where each mission lasts for five turns - or whatever works for you - and set up three spawning points on the other three edges of the board from the one your gang starts on. At the beginning of each turn, roll a dice for each one and on a score of 1-3 place an enemy gang member on that edge. When it comes to the enemy turn, just have them rush the nearest member of your gang and attack them. I use Tyranids in solo games of 40K as they care nothing for their own survival and will not back down, so maybe Gene-cults is the way to go here? So long as you survive to the final turn, you win...

Then go through your normal campaign rules after each battle concludes.

You can then liven it up; apparently there are rules for Genestealers in Necromunda, as "perils" or something. If not, just write them yourself and don't worry about it. Maybe play the Ambot scenario inbetween these games but use a Genestealer instead, maybe two?

Finally, wouldn't it be mental to have a final confrontation with a Genestealer Patriarch? He could be too powerful for the game, so maybe take some inspiration from the final act from Alien3 and provide some machinery that can kill it, such as luring the beast into molten lead? Remember the giant crossbow from 7th Voyage of Sinbad? Something like that...

I hope this helps.

Wow! I was not expecting that! I mean I always was a big fan of firefly but never thought there would be actually a game, and even better, a pure solo game that would cover it!

Been looking at reviews for 5 Parsecs from Home.

This is pure gold and is exactly what I wanted for my gaming! 5 Parsecs from Home is a must have and is part of my Christmas shopping now.

The scope is way way beyond just Necromunda and yikes I want to dig my teeth into taking my home-brew Necromunda clan into space adventures now.

Guys a big thanks! Really appreciate it! This just opened so many new exiting ways of enjoying the minis and background building.

Pure fun times ahead and 5 Parsecs from home has the potential to transform Necromunda into what I always wanted it to be.

That new gang looks brill for kitbashing custom GSC & Cultist minis with!

One underhive market kit looks like a must buy as well, assuming it isn't absurdly priced.
