So, in conjuction with my Word Bearers army (can be seen here), I am starting a Necron army.
I thought it'd be better to keep the two projects seperate, in case anybody is interested in either one or the other, they don't have to scroll through pages and pages of stuff they don't care to see.

This is the stage that the Word Bearers were last at, and fear not Chaos fans, I WILL be continuing to build this army up.

Anyway, on to the robot goodness!

Some of you may have seen my initial colour scheme test model, if not, this is him here.

Since painting him up, I've been quite busy, and I'll use the next few posts to show you what's been happening. (Dakka's system will append them all into one post anyway, but I'll find it easier to seperate them for myself I think)

Lastly, thanks for looking!
C&C always welcome of course

Spent a bit of time painting up some scarab bases I got from a guy from my LFGS, testing some schemes, here's what I've got so far

Also assembled a Trazyn the Infinite model that I picked up.

My army has finally arrived in the mail!
Got a message from my friend to say that the order we put in together had finally arrived.
So, feeling like a giddy child (and acting like one, much to my friend's dismay!), we went and collected it, and, what can I say..

SO MUCH SPRUUUUUUE!

So here we have 2 battleforces worth, giving me;
40 Warriors
10 Immortals/Deathmarks
2 Ghost Arks
Something like 10 or so scarab bases?

This should keep me quite busy for a while..!
Hooray!
I also got home to find a Necron Overlord finecast model waiting for me that I ordered last week.
Unfortunately, the Finecast turned out to be Failcast, sigh, I may post some pictures, but let's say the quality is so terrible I'm going to try and get a replacement as opposed to even bothering to try fixing it... Yuck!

Spent the first half of the weekend assembling some stuff, here is where my army sits now

The Ghost Ark is quite a feat to assemble! Over 70 individual pieces, the thing is a monster! Very nice looking kit though
I was considering trying to magnetize it so it can become a Doomsday Ark at will, but I'm always going to be running at least one Ghost Ark, so I might leave it for the second one, and just get this one put together for now..

Just yesterday I spent a bit of time assembling some more crons, and also painting a second alternate test scheme. This is what I've come up with

The one on the right is the original one I posted, whereas the one on the left is the newer one.
Differences between them are;
- Old one's blue section was a 50/50 mix of Hawk Turquoise and Chaos Black, highlighted with straight Hawk Turquoise
The newer one's blue bits are Hawk Turquoise base, highlighted with 50/50 Turquoise/Ice Blue, and then highlighted with straight Ice Blue.
- The bone colour on the second one has been washed with Devlan Mud, in order to help contrast with the lighter blue
- the chest of the newer one has been left black, and highlighted with grey, based on a friend's preferance.
The gold icon on the chest needs to be tidied up on the second one I know, but apart from that I would classify it as complete, I think..

The base is painted with Dark Flesh, drybrushed with Scab Red

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

So this is currently where everything stands now.
I will be posting as the army progresses more, I am super interested to hear everyone's thoughts on opinions.
Please, be as brutally honest as possible, as I really am going for a nice looking army here, and any criticism or assitance is appreciated.

Thanks again for looking!

I definitely like the brown wash over the bone, other guy looked a bit bright, but i did like the blue chest piece.
So my preference is basically original with brown wash over the bone areas :
) Keep us posted

Also nice gs hat

Thanks mate, I think I'll have to try a third test scheme, washed brown with blue chest, before I decide for sure. Will post results

Thanks, although I must confess I can take credit for this in idea only, and that is thanks to this man
I was assembling the crons with a mate while watching Zombieland, and I decided one needed a hat like his. Thankfully, my mate has some gs skills (as opposed to me not having ANY) so he quickly whipped it up for me

Man the GS on that guy is amazing. I can't wait to see these come together. The black chest looks so much better I gotta say. I'm thrilled by it.

Starting painting a CCB overlord, keep in mind still a WIP. Some parts I'm liking, some not so much. Really not liking his head at the moment so will redo that. Here's the pics!

Bit more progress on the Overlord. Took a few pics with and without flash to try and give a better idea of the look of the model, without the lighting interfering too much.

Considering any glow from the chest? or would that take away too much? The picture in the bottom middle makes the blade really stand out I think. Fantastic stuff.

Been relatively busy (somewhat) here's what I've got to show..

The Overlrod is now finished, here he is

I think my favourite part of him is the Res Orb

I've also started some work on scarab bases, I wanted to have them climbing over bits of vehicles eating away at them as they go. Here's how they're looking so far.

This is still WIP, they're eating away at a mate's UItramarines Rhino (he's still yet to find this out!)

And this one is finished, the scarabs here are eating away at a helpless Chaos Marine who is struggling to crawl away. He's also run out of ammunition for his bolt pistol, poor guy..
I think this scarab base is complete..

And lastly, this beast of a vehicle.
Let me just say... this kit.. wow. So many small little parts and bits, this was a monster to put together!

Can also be changed to hold the Overlord as a Command Barge

Well, that's the lot for now, once again C&C is more than welcome (this thread seems to be INCREDIBLY quiet.. I feel so lonely!

Thanks again all for looking !

Love the power weapon so much on the lord, amazing that its just the cliche model to come with the kit too. Looking forward to much more.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to keep this blog anywhere near as updated as I was hoping.
I have done a bit more work on the Necrons, although nowhere near as much as I was hoping by now, but here's a quick sneap peek of some of the stuff that's been happening!

Much, much more to come...

Edit" Turns out I had a few more pics floating around of some stuff than I realised, keep in mind some of this may still be WiP

And here's some actual proper pics I managed to take today of the vehicles currently.

Ghost Ark [WiP]
The back half has a brown wash, the front doesn't.. I'm thinking of sticking with washless, as the wash doesn't do so well on just flat panels.. thoughts?

Also, when I washed the metallic areas around the guns, the wash has seeped in and made the free-moving part stuck, and when I tried to move the guns downwards.. well, most of them snapped right off :(
I actually had a fit of rage and threw the whole thing. So disappointed.. Oh well, hopefully can fix them in the future.

Command Barge [WiP]
Inset pics:
-Edge Highlighting on panels
-Weathering on engines
-Pilot

Very nice! A great inspiration for me to get mine done. I'm sad to hear about the wash sticking up the guns! I'll have to watch out for that.

So, it's been a long time since I've updated this blog (to be perfectly honest, I think it's partly due to the lack of repsonse, which I know is common for new threads, but whatever) combined with my general laziness.

However, I have been working away at this army still, and a lot of stuff has happened. In that time, I've taken a bunch of progress pics on the way, but rather than upload them all (which would involve tracking them down) I'll upload pics of what I have from now.

While my camera charges up though, I'll give a quick preview of what's been happening

As soon as the camera is charged, I'll take some pics and upload, thanks!

Nice work! My hobby has come to a screeching halt due to the new baby, but I'm glad someone is getting to work! Keep it up and I can't wait to see more!
