This is my custom Imperial Guard: Focke Wulf Guard.

I am basing them off the Waffen SS and the Soviets in Chechnya looks wise. The kind of look that they have been stuck in the fields for days even months on end. Most of the tanks will have some type of extra armor on them. For example: on the Russes, there might be tank treads hanging off the side of the turret and hull and or armored skirts. This army will be WYSIWYG, all the way down to the grenades and knifes on each guy.

Now it's time for the pics. Everything is VERY W.I.P. Because the weather is becoming warmer, I will be airbrushing my tanks.

Love the rules for the heavy mortar but don't like the cost of the FW heavy mortar but there's always the Lobba.

Found this bad boy in the used bin at the local hobby shop years ago and finally got around to building it. Had to re-place the sides because the old ones were messed up. Had to a ton of repair work on it. But it was worth it if you ask me.

I love finding old beat up models and repairing them. Almost all of my tanks have been repaired in one form or another.

Great drinking story guys. I was with some people from my college's gaming club last night, drinknig. We were talking about WYSIWYG and extra armor was brought up. One of the guys was riding me hard about showing extra armor so I went back to my dorm and did this:

Forgot I did this till this morning.

Looks like a great start there. Apparently the techpriest restoring that russ though can't read, it looks like the front plate under the lascannon says rear armor.

I didn't even notice that! I might paint that on after I paint the tank.

I took a messed up Guardsman and took a mix of 75% white glue and 25% water and put it on him. Then I took some cheese cloth and put it on him.

Yeah. Trying to decide how to approach black, so how others are doing it seems a good starting point.

I am going to try to take vallejo grey green (dark grey) and do highlights just like normal cloth. If that doesn't work, I will take a lighter grey and do the same thing.

Nice miniatures!

I like the extra armor on the Tank. Am I right in saying however, that the chunk that says 'rear armor' is stuck to the front?

One of the schemes for the Guardsmen. There will be a mix of camo clothes just like how the Russian/Soviet military does. I already have two schemes thought of (shown bellow) but I would like two or three more woods/jungle scheme. I have some ideas though.

For the new scheme. I might do a rotten flesh base coat then devlan mud wash then highlight with rotten flesh then do the other colors.

I really like your color scheme for your IG. Dark, all serious business, good camo, excellent taste

It's been over two years and I hardly have anything done. I'm so sad. On the upside, I got these guys almost ready to paint. I would love to get all of my sniper teams with these types of ghille suits

Hey nice to see some goings on here again. That looks really similar to the ghillie suits I did for my Elysian snipers.

Found this bad boy in one of my boxes. Need to strip her and repaint.

More of the 'in the field' extra armor on a Russ.

I think the "extra armour" you put onto the Russes should have more surface detail, or they could look very plain when you paint them

Been a while huh? Lots of stuff has happened on my end... With personal and 40k. But we are here for 40k right? New news about my Imperial Guard:

-Finally figured out how to use an airbrush. Still not a professional but I can get paint out and paint stuff. I'm aiming to get my tanks done.

-Finally figured out what colors I'm using for camouflage for the tanks and troops. Took me a long long time to figure out what patterns I'm using. I started to figure out what schemes I wanted and it has been 9 years to figure out what I wanted. Going for a SS pattern and Soviet KLMK for the troops. Still going after that rag tag, 'been in the field for a long time' look. Might try a German paratrooper scheme on a few guys. For the tanks, I'm going for the ambush pattern for German tanks and maybe some type of multi color scheme from the Soviets/Russians.

-Somehow, I lost some of my models, even my favorite leman Russ, the one with the camo netting on it. Sigh. I still have a bunch of tanks and troops left to do.

-Every guardsman will have at least a grenade, water canteen and knife.

Time for some photos of my last fully done model:

I'm not happy with how the scheme came out. I'm very OCD and anal about how it looks. Did a lot of research on how to do it. It's one of those things I might need to do 100 times before it looks good enough to keep my OCD in check.

I agree on the extra armor. It does look plan but there will be items attached. I want to keep the small items like ammo boxes, bags and tools off until it's fully painted.

Thanks! \(0u0)/ I'm thinking about doing that same camouflage netting on the sniper on the veterans who has the camouflage stealth special rule.

More loyal Guardsmen for the 1st Focke Wulf division.

This last guy's camouflage fatigues is my favorite. Based on the Soviet KMKL. Biggest difference is that the Soviet's pattern is blocks while mine are straight lines for the light grey. But it's must easier and faster to paint this camouflage vs the SS camouflage.

The next thing I'm working on will be more riflemen but starting to paint my armor. Lots of tanks.

Comrade Commissar Chainman Meow watching the progress of the Focke Wulf Guard.

This guy is special to me. My friend painted this guy for me before he left for the Navy. Only did some touch ups before sealing him. I don't know what to make him. Something for the command squad.

I have more Guardsmen done. I wonder if this 'complex' camouflage counts as camo cloaks for veterans. Not really a clock but still complex.
