Catching Up. My new dog is not only eating my homework, but all of my free time.

Congratulations on the victory and the commission.

Depression is a medical condition, like, say, diabetes. Too many people don't realize that.

Also, seeing those workplace photos... Mrs. Cam is a sainte, You realize that, no? I could never get away with that. Even though I have been banished to my basement for some time now. "Appearances must be maintained." Sigh.

US coins. Intriguing. I have a 1945 Lincoln penny somewhere. It's the 1943 copper penny that is the real find. You've made a fine start.

Thanks folks,

@ Syro, yeah not many folks know about me yet.
@ Red, she is the best wife and partner any man could ask for.

And so, the other side...

Currently in making the mold to cast in resin.

Thank you for looking.

the sheer size of the cast would make it possible to have two one -sided and just glue them together...?
looking very neat!

Thanks Vik, and I understand what you are saying, but trying something with this one.

Cast done...

And as if to prove Vik right, the first cast was a miscast, but does give me the opportunity to slap a little paint on to see how it looks.

Thanks for looking. All C&C welcome.

Looks really good Cam. Remember to add some lighter, shinier areas of copper to reflect the wear on the coin's patina.

I recently made verdigris wash.. For such a huge piece probably the best way to deal with it...wash it in a big and shallow plate...and then drying??? Probably twice, for every side at least once?

Wow, Cam you continue to amaze. Did you ever mention why your commission is a giant high detail penny? Is it a batman thing, like someone mentioned? Some other game related thing? Present for a coin collector?

By the painted pic size that looks like the size of a large dinner plate . I can’t imagine eating off of that , wouldn’t want to eat corn off of Lincoln’s beard.

I believe it is a Batman Batcave thing. The client will soon let me know as it is on it's way now.

Thanks folks, much appreciate the comments. I have the mold now so could make many but not sure how big a market there is for such a thing.

@ Vik, yes I think I might do a silly little dio with this buried and weathered up just for a laugh. And verdigris washes will be applied.

So change of tack here, back to the Fire Engine project. Shown here as reference for folk to see how I do things like springs and shaping materials.

Thanks for looking folks.

Say, do you the fine folks of the United Kingdom have an expression like, "A penny saved is a penny earned." (Normally attributed to Ben Franklin, BTW.)

I'm liking this Fire Engine project.

Loving the springs. I've been thinking about tiny ones (gaslands again), so those are a good reference.
