This morning, a local Birmingham 40K player and tournament-goer lost his life to a heart attack while out for a run. I did not know him as well as some of our other local gamers (and maybe they'll be by in this thread to say a word about him), but I had the pleasure of playing against him, chatting with him a bit and seeing him around the gaming scene. I know that he was relatively young and that he leaves a family behind. Keep them in your prayers, if you would.
On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie.

A terrible tragedy.
Sympathies to his family and loved ones, and his toy soldier brothers-in-arms.
Any untimely death is sad of course, but something just a touch sadder when a fellow hobbyist dies. Its like a little bit of hobby dies with them.
Wherever he is now, I hope he rolls many sixes.

what a sad occurence. Its always sad when someone dies, but just like other have said, its especially sad when a fellow gamer dies, especially one so well-known and respected. My thoughts go out to his family and friends. RIP.

While I have never played against him, I have played around him. He seemed to be a great guy, and I know he was active in the gaming community.
This is a terrible tragedy my heart goes out to his family and friends.

Just as a little backstory, the pic in the OP was taken only two weeks ago after Lee won the Alabama C.A.G.E. Match tournament. As a new player in the area I never met Lee, but heard nothing but good things about him. At least now when everyone sees the banner hanging in the store they'll be reminded of him. Glad he could go out a winner.
