Hello,

Just been introduced to Warhammer 40k by a work friends partner and decided very much that I want to start playing it so I have gone out and brought the Cadian Battleforce set as I like tanks and it was suggested that the Imperial Guard would be the best side to go for.

Anyway, I have got all the troopers and all but two of the heavy weapons teams built up now and just started painting them up (only one basic trooper done so far!), will get some pics up soon. Not sure if my colour scheme might offend some people as its Hormagaunt Purple armour and lasguns with the fatigues in Calthan Brown. Yes they are the "old" colours so once they run out the colour scheme will be slightly different but I dont mind too much!

I worked it out and so far my army is a (slightly pathetic!) 500 points all in. Looking at getting two more Sentinels and a trio of Leman Russ' to bring my army up to a better strength.

Anyway, be nice to hear suggestions as to what you guys would suggest to add to my army (Considering getting a Stormlord to take instead of the LRs on occasions as well) and opinions as to what I have done wrong (if anything) so far!

Thanks!

Ross

500 points is plenty to start playing.

Do a bit of searching for a combat patrol mission, you'll have plenty of models for that (some times local game stores have Combat Patrol tournaments).

Leman Russ's are excellent choices, as are Basilisks.

As you're new, I'll just recommend what you think is cool looking!

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Anyway, took some pics of the troopers today plus my one and only Sentinel (with the big old plasma gun) but I think Steel Runner needs a repaint, not keen on the original scheme now!

Welcome to Dakka. 500 point games are a lot of fun. Leman Russ tanks are a great addition to your force because:

1- They look cool

2- They are fun to paint

3- They are pretty handy on the table

You will find a lot of helpful advice here on painting, modeling, list building, and pretty much anything else wargame related. So, again, welcome and enjoy this great hobby.

Hey there, another noob here starting out the one bit of knowledge I can share with you so far that I've learned is that this hobby takes practice both painting and playing so don't be disheartened by the master painted figures that games workshop show on their websites,it's so easy to look at them and say my models are rubbish but it's all about practice, learn to love the story behind them and eventually your tactics and painting will improve.Good luck mate and welcome to this weird new hobby that is one of the most fun and relaxing hobbies I can think of. (A lot of players I know including myself are ex servicemen and it is a great way to unwind and get into an immersive universe)have fun and feel free to message or friend me if you like,

Welcome to Dakka, and remember the Imperial Guard can never have enough Leman Russ takes but remember that its infantry that supports them and holds the objectives. Sounds like you got a good start, keep going.

Welcome!

If you have P&M things it'd be best to put them in the P&M section. You'll get more responses about that stuff.

And Leman Russes are excellent.
