Update!

"Is the gamblers chest still on its expected timeline?"

Adam Poots wrote:@Jeremy, most likely not. The Gambler’s Chest It is still deep in development, both rules-wise and engineering miniatures. I am pushing the envelope on the quality, using finer cutter sizes for the smallest details of the tools and I have been building the “meat” on top of the skeleton that is Advanced KD:M. I am hoping to have a firmer timeline on when we can expect it by around Gencon. (August).

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/poots/kingdom-death-monster-15/comments?cursor=20298569#comment-20298568

With the 3-month rolling delay that Adam estimated during the KS means that shipping the first box by 20 September, 2018 would be "on time". I imagine Adam is trying for earliest start in Q4 2018 (October), right before the holiday rush. Otherwise, it pushes to January, after the Holiday season. If that's the case, he would be able to announce Wave 3 production start during Gencon.

Not surprisingly, Adam is pushing quality and detail, and that is impacting the timeline somewhat. Also, that Advanced KD:M will be the new game foundation going forward. That's all totally consistent with what I'd expect from him, and no worries. I love and admire his commitment to quality!

Any idea about what's in the "ECHOES OF DEATH" offering, and what the 'gameplay' content in there is?

Adam mentioned in a video that it's 4 survivors based on generic class models- looks like the priest, the thief, the mage, and the fighter.

There's also the strain system he's adding where when you meet certain milestones new things get unlocked... or something.

Also there's a SciFi Savior and High School Twilight Knight. Look like resins though.

Echoes of Death is a re-imagining (in plastic!) of 4 generic (i.e. non-Monster) pinup-like models to bring them into KD:M, and it also includes a new "Strain" system that adds onto the Campaign to further develop your Settlement.

It's not part of the KS at all, which is why I didn't mention it here.

I think it's pretty significant in that it highlights a few things:

1. Generic Classes are *not* part of the Monster (otherwise, he'd have remastered the for plastic, rather than reimagining them by translating their generic fantasy designs into Monster-specific designs.

2. There are significant revamps to how Settlements will develop, where individual Survivors bring benefits to the Settlement as a whole. This further emphasizes the Settlement over the Survivor, just in case that wasn't clear before.

3. It's hard plastic, so Adam has managed to secure more plastic production, so it's possible that the GC and other Wave 3 content is also in production, in addition to the 3rd round of original Expansion production.

I believe he showed a breakdown of the ball - it's a half-dozen (or more) pieces, so not that difficult, I think.

Also... First Hero Expansion pair

Those two are probably the first ones I'm going to paint. Really looking forward to that pair.

Heck, I'm looking forward to seeing just how the whole First Hero showdown is going to play out.

Plus cool looking upgraded survivors!

I have a feeling it'll be Screaming God for me - everything I've seen so far just totally wows me. I wonder if the Alpha Armors / Screaming God Armors will show.

BackerKit has resopened for Black Friday 2018!

"Small" expansions are generally seeing $10 increases, while the "large" expansions (e.g. Abyssal Woods) held at KS price.

Gambler's Chest jumped to $275!

I wish there was something I didn't either already own or back for.

At this point I'd just be buying stuff to speculate with and I already missed my chance to do that with the Gambler's Chest if I was going to resell anything.

With how much that sucker's been bloated in price I'm quite eager to see just how much has been added to it. It's almost getting to be another base set worth of stuff!

Eager for tomorrow's update (and hopefully a shot at something new in plastic)!

I don't think much has been added to the GC post-KS. During the KS, Adam had already revealed it to contain basically another Core worth of models. If you look at the raw counts, the GC actually contains ~10 more models than the 1.5 Core. Granted that some of the Survivors are more pinup than fighter, but it's still a lot of content. The Core likely has more, fancier print, along with the board and organizer.

The new price of the Gamblers Chest makes sense, that already had a heck of a lot of content, but I'm wondering what's gone into the Campaign of Death set to bump the price by $80.

An extra 150 pages that upgrades all the original expansions to 1.5, including updated cards.

My mind is kinda reeling from all the info being dumped on us. Almost leaves me with more questions than I had before.

Since there's nothing really new in the BF sale and I don't feel like trying to scalp stuff (plus the few models I wanted dupes of sold out already), I figure I'll be grabbing a plastic Satan since there's four of them now.

Big question is, do I want to grab a Pinups of Death II or the plastic board as well, as that's all I don't have.

I have 2 of the pinups from that box already painted, but don't own the rest. The board I have no clue what that's going to really end up like. I'd hoped we'd get more info on it. I feel like it's an item that could end up with a major price hike the more it gets developed.

Wow, MASSIVE Update!
-> https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/poots/kingdom-death-monster-15/posts/2338088

The test pops from the hard tooling that he was able to share look great.

I am super happy with everything that he showed that I had already backed:
* Gambler's Chest (& esp. Gambler)
* Advanced KD:M looks good, and I like that he's focused on ensuring that new stuff adds value, rather than bloat
* First Hero & Veteran Survivors
* Screaming God, Parasite Queen & Illuminated
* Black Knight & Squires
* Ivory Dragon & Satan Survivors
I had hoped to see Red Witches, and more Abyssal Woods / Inverted Mountain, but I guess they weren't ready yet!

I ended up adding
* Honeycomb Weaver, because I like the Titan Bee as a Node 1 (and it completes the Abyssal collection)

I like what he's doing with Campaigns of Death, esp. moving it to Wave 3, but I'm not sure that I like it for $125, especially as I'm already adding $85 worth of stuff to the pile.

OTOH, for essentially similar money at $110, I really like Pinups of Death III... The models are really captivating, but $110 is a lot to add with basically no in-game content

Still not likely to add Nightmare Ram, Pathfinders, Frogdog, but I'm considering Oblivion Mosquito.

I'm glad to have a few days to think about the adds.

Y'all notice what showed up at the end of that gambler video?

Spoilered in case you didn't watch yet.

Spoiler:
A new bigger, meaner, lion sculpt seems to be coming at some point...

Yes you do.

Fantastic update!
As frustrating as I find Poots refusal to put out regular ones, when an update does surface it always make for an exciting read.

Now to wait patiently to see what a Crimson Crocodile looks like.

That, and there's maybe a "Crimson Crocdile" in the GC (mentioned under Advanced KD:M)?

If so, presumably, the Crocodile would replace the Gorm as a huntable monster for Organ, so that makes sense, being able to hunt more for organ, bone, or hide.

It would be super helpful if Adam could clarify if there are other extra models being added

At the end of the day, I ended up holding with just Honeycomb Weaver being added. My outstanding KDM pledge looks like this:

Wave 3
* Gambler's Chest
* Pinup Black Knight

Wave 4
* First Hero
* Red Witches
* Black Knight
* Gryphon
* Screaming God
* Death Armor
* Ivory Dragon
* Honeycomb Weaver [BF'18]
* Abyssal Woods

I had gone back-and-forth over the Campaigns, and realized I already had "enough" additional gameplay incoming on top of the stuff I had in hand that I didn't really need more.

It amazes me that you haven't just succumbed to the game and gone all in at this point John.

I did for the models, no qualms whatsoever.

The hope is that post holidays I can clear out enough stuff I don't need and finally play this. Possibly get an organizer for everything as well.

Oh, that's easy to explain: I don't love all of the models.

For whatever reason, most of the Inverted Mountain / Silver City stuff just doesn't appeal to me, nor the Role Survivors and other homages, so I passed on them. While things like the Oblivion Mosquito are well-executed, they just don't have enough sense of whimsy (Black Knight, Red Witches), giant awesomeness (Ivory Dragon, Gryphon), or eye-catching charm (Abyssal Woods) to get me to buy them.

As far as playing goes, you definitely need a fully-cleared table. 5' x 3' at a minimum, plus extra storage for stuff. A full Lantern Year play session is something of a sprawling affair that can be a bit of a challenge to wrangle as you shift from Hunt to Showdown to Settlement.

I Have a ping pong table topper for my pool table. It's 9x5, and in my basement so I don't have to clean up after every session. It's wonderful.

It should do for KD if it works for shadows of brimstone.
