Hey everyone, I'm relatively new to DakkaDakka and just starting to post. I've got a thread in the WIP section for my Ork Big Mek. Thought I'd post some finished stuff here too. Hope you enjoy.

I gotta say, I love the range helmets and armor on those burnas. The blue is very bright and contrasts well on all the models. Well done.

So, the orange helmets are actually red. Something in the lighting when I took the photo brought out the orange. Even the background looks a little off compared to others. Still, glad you like the figs.

Not surprising you missed it, I only just posted it last night. I was thinking to add to the 'Your Best Model' thread and figured I might as well post some others. I'm glad you like them. After seeing all the amazing paintjobs on DakkaDakka, I'm thinking I need to add some detailing to them. Checker patterns, weathering, etc. For now they'll have to do while I focus on my new Big Mek. He may have to set the new standard.

Really nice, no problems except that the blue on some of the vehicles is a bit clean.

Thanks Norn King. Totally agree. I think going back and adding some weathering to the vehicles will be my next plan after I finish the the new Big Mek I'm working on. Check my sig for the link.

@Master - Nice to meet another DeffSkullz player! If I recall correctly, the all blue Nob was painted with Regal Blue (now Kantor Blue?) base, then a Purple Ink wash (no longer available I think), then several thinned layers of Enchanted Blue (Caledor Sky) using Bleached Bone (Ushabti Bone) to lighten up each layer of blue. Let me know how that works for you.

@Killy - Thanks!

@FenWulf - Thanks for the compliment, but try not to be too hard on yourself; time and practice can go a long way. Also, I notice you don't have any photos up in your gallery and that you are new to DakkaDakka. Dakka is a great place to learn from others and get really helpful feedback. Don't be shy to show what you are working on and ask for help.

Great models man, good use of some of the older ork buggies and nobz, gives it a nice "classic" feel.
Also, where did you get the tracks for the 2nd looted wagon from?

@GeneruL - "classic" indeed. Aside from a colour change to the vehicles and the addition of the first battlewagon shown, all the models in the first post were painted more than 10 years ago. That's all we had at the time. The first Battlewagon was built this year and the new Mek was just finished. I've really only just started back into the hobby after spending several years focused on WWII for gaming. Being those tracks were from so long ago, I can't recall exactly what model they are from. I think it is from some sort of battlefield recovery tank.

@skyfi - Thanks! Much appreciated.

Lovely, the KFF mek looks better and more orky than the offical model :thumsup:

I saw in your other thread that you recently got a bommer, it will be nice to see that painted up soon.
Should get round to making my own thread, mabye when I get a bommer myself on sunday.

Thanks Krimsun!

The bommer will be delayed unfortunately. I'm working on my Burnas instead. I should have an update to post soon. The bommer got pushed down the priority list when I learned that the tourny I'm going to in September will be only 1250 points. The Bomma just didn't fit in the list. ... but the Burnas and a new BattleWagon do!

The KFF-Mek is awesome! How did you make the black & yellow cables? Are they just GS?

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too!

I would like to know more about the painting of the wires, it looks very dirty but bright, a very difficult thing to pull off that really would make any model stand out.

I hope it's not just yellow and black

@Shadox - The yellow and black wire is just a small bit of regular wire taken from some basic telephone cable you can get in any hardware store. You can usually buy it by the foot and 1 foot of it should last you a long time. It comes with 4 strands inside, so with 1 foot of it, you actually get 4 feet of wire.

@Krimsun - For painting the wires, here's the steps I used:

1. Prime with black,
2. Paint complete wire with Bad Moon Yellow (have to substitute Flash Gitz Yellow now)
3. Light wash with Reikland Fleshshade
4. Highlight surface curves with very thin Bad Moon Yellow
5. Add small stripes of Abaddon Black
6. Heavy wash with Reikland Fleshshade
7. Highlight surface curves again with even thinner Bad Moon Yellow (note, this goes over both the black and yellow stripes, it sort of tones down the black and makes it look faded)

You may be able to shorten the process by removing steps 3 and 4. I thought I was done after step 4, but friendly feedback let me know my yellow was too bright and suggested the black stripes. Then I added steps 5 to 7.

BTW, painting black stripes on yellow is easier than yellow stripes on black. That's why I paint the whole thing yellow over the black primer.
