There will be a 40k tournament this year at Dexcon, it will be the first year this convention is holding a 40k GT. Here is the link to the convention's website, http://www.dexposure.com/dexcon15.html

The GT will be a 2 day, 6 round 2000 point 40k tournament. It will be run as a Nova Open Prep event, and will be using the Nova Open format and scenarios. It will take place on July 7th and 8th, (4 rounds Saturday and 2 Sunday). Fully painted armies are required. (That means at least 3 colors) Standard force organization will be used and no imperial armor or forge world units will be allowed.

The tournament will use 5th edition rules of warhammer 40k regardless of the releases of warhammer 40k 6th edition.

There are 64 available spots for the tournament, and although it's the gt's first year we are expecting a full house.

As the event is part of the convention you will need to purchase a convention pass and input a specific code when you pay to let them know you plan on playing in the GT. As a tournament attendee you will have 2 options of payment. The first is purchasing a full convention pass at a $10.00 discount. The normal cost for the convention pass is $55.00, however if you enter the access code indicating you are playing in the 40k GT you will only have to pay $45.00. This will allow complete access to the convention from July 4th through July 8th. The second method of payment is purchasing a weekend pass which will also feature a $10.00 discount. The normal weekend pass costs $45.00, but if you enter the code indicating you are playing in the 40k GT then you will only have to pay $35.00. The weekend pass will give access to the whole convention from Friday at 8pm, July 6th through the remainder of the weekend.

We will be using the Nova Format mission which are these. http://www.novaopen.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/2011-GT-Missions-vFinal.pdf

For appearance and sportsmanship we will be using the adepticon rubrics. Which can be found here on page 2 and page 3. http://www.adepticon.org/12rules/201240Kchamp.pdf
* Note we are only using the information relevant to sportsmanhip and painting! You can disregard all other information in this packet*

So here's what the schedule is looking like, although this is not completely set in stone yet.

Saturday July 7th,

9:00am-10:00am registration
10:am-12:00pm Round 1
12:15pm-2:15pm Round 2
2:15pm-3:15pm Lunch
3:15pm- 5:15pm Round 3
5:30pm-7:30pm Round 4

There will be 30 minutes of lee way time for games to finish up, people showing up late etc, distributed throughout the day. So plan on dice rolling around 10:00am and Saturday being over around 8:00pm

On Sunday,

10:00am-12:00pm Round 1
12:00pm-12:30pm Quick lunch
12:30pm-2:30pm Round 2
3:15ish- 3:45ish award ceremony

I am going to push for a longer round times, ut do understand that it's not up to me, it's up to the convention. That said, I can probably get it..
Plan on finishing up no later then 4 on Sunday, so you guys that are travelling can get hom in decent time. Also plan on showing up before 10am as dice start rolling at 10.

Assuming full sign ups there will be roughly $900 given out in prize support to the top 3 in each of those categories.

If you plan on attending the GT, then be sure to input this code when buying your ticket: 40KGT151 Please take not pre registration is going to end on June 27th at 11:59 pm. If you are late on pre registering you can still sign up for the GT but you will be buying the late convention passes for each individual day. It will be approximately twice as much.

As far as prize support goes there will be prizes for ren man (best overall) general (the single undefeated player) paint (best appearance) and sports. There will also be prizes for 2nd and 3rd in each category. We're looking to have $1000+ in prize support for the tournament in addition to trophies and plaques. In Addition after speaking with Mike Brandt, he has generously offered to give me an alternate invitational spot for the person who goes 6-0 (tournament champion), a free weekend badges for the person who wins best overall, and some scenic objective markers for the best appearance. Something to note, although the invitational slot in an alternate slot and is not 100% guaranteed, there have already been people accepted to the invitational based on these alternate spots, and last year I believe 5 people were given invitationa; tickets through means of alteration like this. In other words, while I can not guarantee the invitational ticket will get you invitational, I'm pretty certain it will.

The convention is in Morristown New Jersey at the Morristown Hyatt and Confrence center in New Jersey.

I know it's not a lot of information right now, and I will try to get more information out for you in the near future. If you have any questions please feel free to PM me or email me at Nicknanavati@yahoo.com

Awesome Jesse! That's great to hear! I don't have access to the official sign up list right now but I'll let you know as soon as I can.

I do know we have about 20 or so verbal commitments, but I'm not sure how many of them have actually bought their tickets yet.

I recommend signing up sooner than later in case it fills up, as we do have a lot of commitments already. Also as far as prize support goes there will be a trophy given to the winner of each of the 4 categories (Ren man, General, Appearance, and Sports).

Assuming full sign ups there will be roughly $900 given out in prize support to the top 3 in each of those categories.

Ouch, two hour rounds? Any way that could be stretched out to 2 hrs 15 mins?

Is there any projected scoring break down regarding painting, battle, and comp if its applicable? Also potential missions or how they will be scored?

I have guys interested, but folks would like a clearer picture of what they are walking into.

Thanks for putting together a summer event!

Jesse- I can talk to Vinny (the guy in charge of giving me a time frame for the event) to see if I can squeeze another hour in there to make it 2hrs 15 mins. I agree 2 hours is really short. I can probably get longer rounds without too much trouble.

I'm updating the original post to include all the newer information and to answer any questions.

Please take not pre registration is going to end on June 27th at 11:59 pm. If you are late on pre registering you can still sign up for the GT but you will be buying the late convention passes for each individual day. It will be approximately twice as much.

Actually if you aign up using the heroclix code it won't save you a few bucks because it will not let you sign up for the 40k tournament. By entering the 40k tournament code posted in the top of the thread you not only sign up for the 40k event, but also receive the $10.00 discount.

Huh. Really wish I had finished my army instead of dropping it halfway while waiting for 6th edition.

I'll be interested in how this pans out, and will definitely be up for next year.

I signed up.

Nick managed to get the time extension to 2:15 rounds.

Is there a roster of who signed up?

I appreciate all of you guys signing up. That said, we have an alarming lack of preregistrants. Maybe it's because 6th comes out in 2 days an no one is really interested in playing 5th, but whatever the reason as of now we just don't have enough people to warrant this being a GT. As of now we have 3 courses of action to take, 1 being to make it a single 1 day, 4 round event, in which almost everyone gets something prize support wise. I need you guys to let me know if this would be okay with you or not as soon as you can so I can make the proper adjustments. If you are not okay with it, then I could refund you the money and take you off the list. The last thing I want is for you guys that are traveling to have to cancel hotel reservations without a refund.

We could have a pretty small 2 day, 6 round event. This way you guys feel like you get what you paid for (game wise), but it would require you to travel, and such.

If sign ups don't increase soon, or if you guys don't get back to me about what you want then we may have to cancel the event.

Please voice your opinion in whatever you choose!

I am personally game for a 1 day event. That is chill with me, no hotel makes me happy.

1 day event is fine with me but then I'd REALLY prefer to have it on Sunday if that's possible.

If it goes to a one day event unfortunately I'll have to pass. Can't justify driving almost 200 miles for a one day show. How many people have registered?

Alright guys, so here's what's going down. As of now we have 16 people registered, and regardless of the turn out the convention is making this be a 2 day event (since we booked the space for 2 days). So we're going to really try to get some more attendance, although that's really difficult with the new edition coming out tomorrow...

On the bright side you guys that do make the trip will have some really nice prize support!

I really wish I could make this Nick, but I just can't get away for the whole weekend.

I am going to be making a day trip to Dexcon though it will probably be on Thursday. Hopefully I'll see ya then.

Clauss, would LOVE to have another go versus you, regardless of your army--though its my turn to win I think.

As for the low attendance, its kind of suprising. You guys realize that Nick wont be playing, meaning we have a shot to win right? LOL, unless Nick not playing is the issue, in which case we'll make him play!

The only 40k I usually play at Dex is the arena, I kinda like fooling around with the titans and superheavies and way too much
firepower once in a while. I don't know if one more player more or less will make a difference but if it does you can count me in.
I'll be there anyway so for me its just a schedule change.

Brad,
I am sure we will play each other if the event is two days long and is around 16 players, and hopefully you the dice help you a bit this time. Sadly the daemons are on hiatus until allies have been determined so they can reunite with their chaos marine friends.
Sadly i succumb to the new necron models and am loving the army.
Also, I refuse to let Nick win,,,boycott him playing in anymore tournaments imo.
