The biggest weakness with the list right now is how you will pop transports at range. venom cannons are not good at this. The best ranged transport killers are hive guard. They blow up a couple and the Doom kills the guys that fall out.
The other option could be since you seem to be setting up a reserve list is to work with that more. Drop the warriors and a carnie, add a spore for the other carnie and give him some shorter ranged guns with blast and/or template. Add zoanthropes in a spore.
I'm not fond of Hvy venom cannons, it's just what I have atm. I intend to buy a tyrant box, assemble a swarmlord, and have the gun arms to swap out on the metal tyrant.
I like zoanthropes, but only have one model(hence using the Doom) atm. Hive guard I may be converting from warriors.
Though I have non-GW that I can proxy, GW I have: aprox another 25 stealers 20-25 termagants Another 5 warriors.
That's about it.

I might actually try dropping the Trygon and load up on more spores. Maybe add BioPlasma to the Carnies and a Thorax weapon on the Tyrant. 'Nids don't have many template weapons so it is always nice when you can take one. Left over points increase guants or stealers.
That's something to consider. I like bio plasma, just didn't have the points. I'd like another 80 for 8 more devilgaunts as well....but need the minis too, lol.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I'm surprised that no one has said to drop the Lictors.

I really like spores, I tend to drop 12 devourergants from them. I've got a couple of battle reports using them against a very competitive IG list. This is the better of them. I've used essentially the same list 5 times, and the opponents have surrendered on turn 3 in all but 1, which was done on turn 4 (this video, actually)
Bugger...on my cheap old phone right now and can't see the vid.
So you're happy with 12 devilgaunts? Using mathhammer, 20 will kill 5 MEQ's.....which to me is rather something.
I've been putting weapons on the spores....stranglers more importantly because I figure it's a stationary MC that isn't going to be able to do anything......but a low cost BC and suddenly it's throwing pie out to 36"....I'm hoping to pin a unit or two, either for assaults, or to keep 'em down to be shot at.

Genestealers outflank, Flyrant comes in preferably from my own table edge to avoid mishaps. He can charge 18" or cover 30" with dakka. I feel the list has a good chance against most armies out there, unless the mission is pure kill points (which no tournament plays around here).
The Lictors are pretty redundant in this list. Lets say nothing derp strikes until turn 2, the Lictors ability doesn't work until turn 3 anyway, which would make reserve a 2+. If you start the Hive Tyrant on the board then it will be a 3+ turn 2 and then 2+ on turn 3 anyway.
I think you will have problems with anti tank. Zoanthropes would suit a deep striking list as would maybe a Mawloc (I am not a fan of these) as the S6 template would catch vehicles.
TBH I like N.I.B's list. Not keen on the amount of Genestealers though, better to have more 'Stealers than a Broodlord.

I've tried both 2x10 nekkid Stealers and 2x5 + Broodlords, and I will definately keep the current setup. The Broodlords adds another layer of tactical depth with their anti-character power (Gazed Draigo the other day) and resilience, in spite of being 2 wounds less. I7 and S5 also helps out a bit in some situations.
My problem with dropping 20 gants out of the spore is that it can become problematic finding room for them if the spore ends up next to an enemy unit or spore. 36 shots is on average only 3 MEQ's, but killing 4 or 5 is still fairly probable (as is killing fewer, lol). With 18" range, I can always focus two groups to get 6 kills, and I can fire on damaged units (such as whatever the spore hurt) and clean up without wasting all those extra shots.
But, there is nothing wrong with 20 More Dakka!
I put venom canons on the spores, in case the closest unit happens to be a vehicle. 6 strength has some chance of hurting many vehicles, and keeps the spore a threat even to heavily mechanized armies. The BS would be a better pick if I knew my opponent was very light in vehicles.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Wait, do the spores count as Kill Points? The rules say they are non-scoring.
