Please don't post individual point values for upgrades, just post the combined point value for the unit. Makes it easy to read and won't get GW up in arms about their codex date being on an open forum.

I'm assuming you're trying to make this into a 1500 list?

Your CCS looks like you're focusing on CC with it (fc, ca, and fearless from straken, plus the banner) but you have the plasma gun which needs to be stationary for maximum range and will prevent you from assaulting if you use it. I would drop it and replace it with a bodyguard if anything. Bodyguards are better than normal vets in cc and you can do some daffy stuff with wound allocation due to their special rule. Seems like that would fit better with the rest of the squad than a plasma gun.

I personally wouldn't run plasma pistols on high cost independent characters, especially with guard saves.

Stormtrooper squad is kind of a waste of points the way you have it configured imo. You have 175 points worth of non-scoring units that will deep strike in and not really do much with just the flamer and grenade launcher. I think the points would be better spent on two five man stormtrooper squads with a melta each, use them to ds in behind an armor threat and wreck it. Or, for less points you can get another vet squad in a chimera with two flamers and a heavy flamer (145 iirc) or even some scout sentinels with heavy flamers.

Another nice elite choice is a psyker battle squad. I had some fun last game I played escorting whole squads off of the map after they lost three models in a phase. Their shooting ability can be nice if a bit unreliable. They would probably work well with the number of sniper rifles you have in the list. Make them ld2 and force them to take a pinning test, just make sure you know their army so you don't try it on a fearless unit or something like that.

PCS doesn't really synergize that well. Sniper is heavy 1, so you don't want to be moving around to get the most out of the weapon, but you have the banner which is only useful in cc. You're taking a 15 point upgrade hoping that 5 guardsman will be able to win cc with just one more wound to help them, and that will almost never happen unless you're making a dedicated cc squad that actually has fairly competent cc units. I would drop the pw, banner, and sniper and get 4 meltas and/or a chimera.

Platoon isn't in a legal configuration as-is. You need 2-5 infantry squads and I only see one on your list. Get 2 or 3, give the sgts pw and run them in a blob with the lord commissar. Also, keep the meltas.

It isn't 15 points to replace all mortars with lascannons, it's 15 points per lascannon. I would run three lascannons if you have the points. 2 mortars won't do much and your list is very lacking in AT at 1500 points. I like to run mine with a bare-bones ccs near it (lascannon and camo cloak, this is also where I park my officer of the fleet or astropath if I take them) and set them all in some nice cover. 4 lascannons with 4+/3+ saves with twin-link or reroll successful cover saves against smoked vehicles gets annoying very fast. The platoon HWT kind of needs it, being bs3.

SWT- not a huge fan of BS3 heavy 1. Also, only 3 members can take special weapons, not all of them. I would drop it and spend the points on more infantry or vets.

Vets- I wouldn't run the doctrines. You're spending the points to make them "tough", but they have no killing power. 8 lasguns and a flamer don't do much of anything against most armies. 6 lasguns and three plasma guns will make anyone think twice about where they go and can threaten AV10/11 fairly well. I would try to fit three vet/chimera squads in the army at least, two with plasma and one with melta.

Armored sentinel.. probably not worth the points. Remember, it's bs3, so half of your lascannon shots won't hit. hunter-killer is even worse. 10 points for a one-shot missile at bs3..

like the russ, but I would drop the bolter sponsons. You're probably going to be moving a lot with it, so you won't really get the chance to use them.

Manticores are fun as well, haven't actually used the basillisk to compare, though.

Vendettas are nice in the fast attack slot.

Overall, I think the biggest problem is that you're trying to make the units do too much. The name of the game for guard is specialization. Don't upgrade one unit to do three things, get three different units to do different things because they're cheap enough that you can do it. If you need to make a unit multi-role, make sure the roles play well together. Avoid heavy and rapid fire weapons on a unit you want to assault with. Meltas, flamers, or grenade launchers would be a better choice. Avoid cc upgrades on units with weapons that prevent assaulting, especially ones you spent points on!

Very poor layout for list building and you can't list points for each upgrade.

That being said the above poster makes some good points.Your vets are very poorly made up. They have BS4 and can take 3 special weapons. A typical vet squad should avoid assault so giving your sgt a power weapon is a waste of points. Keep vets simple, either 3 plasma or 3 melta as you will need melta to pop transports.

TBH you need to reformat your list so it is legal and easier to read. Once you do that I'm sure you will get a lot more help. Good luck!
