The Sorcerer looks really good, and I like bit selections you used for the Termies. I can't wait to see them fully painted.

Thanks! I foolishly went ahead and ordered some bits for a new super secret project as well so even more work soon...

That makes two of us then :p; With the rules for the taurox on 8t making it an excellent vehicleh, I'll be trying to salvage the base model...

Sorcerer is looking good; will the blue bits on the chest have OSL added? They seem like prime candidates for it. OSL might help you out with the stripy sections as well, make him feel like a psyker?

Thanks and welcome to the blog! I'm super happy with how the terminator sets mixed together, luckily they both came with a bunch of spare bits for me to use.

Plenty of time still! With my track record I will either decide to repaint the whole model halfway through or get distracted and paint some ad mech...

Victoria Miniatures have a great looking wheel conversion kit for the taurox if that interests you? Dreamforge also sell a pretty nifty looking vehicle with the same characteristics only better scaled (though it may be a bit big for proxying)

I also took your advice and am now playing around with a bit of OSL. I was only going to do the hand initially but the chest as well is a great idea!

After getting very distracted by all the Star Wars Battlefront 2 news today I eventually realized that I had a character model to finish painting and I am super happy with how he turned out.

The OSL was really fun to do and a pretty simple procedure. I also happened on a new basing technique when I used PVA to help the agrellan earth set and applied some weathering powder over it which created a really nice multi-tone base.

I have yet to decide what cult to align him with but he will be getting a freehand symbol once I decide!

This has to be my favourite angle, it really shows off that menacing glow in its fullest, thanks Comissar Khaine for the idea!

And finally a closer look at the weird but cool reaction weathering powder has with PVA glue...

Anything else I could improve on with the model? I considered adding a blue glow to the base to emphasise that he was floating but decided it might distract too much from the model, thoughts?

Thanks! Ominous was the intended effect

Still working on the first batch of termies but in the meantime I found a tank in my display case that I forgot to post on Dakka.

It's a few years old as you can tell by the paintjob but all that really needs doing is touching up the gold panels, taking down the battle damage a little, and adding some dust to the bottom of the tank to help it blend in. It will probably end up being a big paint session where I patch up this tank, the Rhino, and the Fellblade all at once so tank fans keep your eyes peeled!

I too love me some tanks, not sure why I never bought any more but I certainly have my eye on the upcoming marine tank for conversion purposes...

Painting progress has been pretty much nonexistant this month. I've almost finished one termie but I'm gonna try and get the whole squad done soonish.

Tomorrow I will be out celebrating Canada's 150th birthday but after that I shall be chaining myself to my desk so expect more pics soon!

I really like how you're doing the lightning claws on that terminator? How did you do it? I have about 10 termies of my own (5 Cata and 5 Tartaros) that I have equipped with lightning claws, so I'm curious.

Thanks War Kitten! It's a pretty simple procedure as all I do is basecoat with a silver and then apply green ink (not a wash) over the top.

I might paint some lightning streaks over the top with some lighter green like I did with this dread but honestly I quite like it as is The chipped silver was a happy accident but i think it fits well with the very damaged armour of the termies..

In other news I discovered a box of shame under my bed filled to the top with forgotten miniatures some of which are begging to be turned into a diorama. I'll have to build a mock up of one in the morning!

I think we all have a box of shame somewhere in our homes. I happen to have like 3 boxes of shame, but who's counting at this point?

Thanks for the lightning claw tips though, I'm totally going to try that when I get around to painting my Terminators. Gotta work on testing out a Blood Ravens paint scheme though. I found a use for the BaC set that I had laying around.

Yeah I ventured down into my basement the other day and discovered all kinds of models that need finishing including a horde of old metal Rackham stuff and a full LotR Elven army!

And I would love to see some pics once they are all painted up, I love the Blood Raven's paint scheme, the red and parchment colour goes together so well.

It's gonna be a while at any rate. The one bone/parchment color I had was Karak Stone, and it has rather terrible coverage over a black undercoat. I have tot try to get down to my local FLGS at some point whenever I get back from vacation and look for a better one.

I get so confused by all the new paint names, there's way too many of them now!

While not especially TSons related, I found some SoS while cleaning out my desk and they are really fun to build. Realizing that I had plenty of spare bits left over I did a quick conversion with some Dark Eldar parts and now should have enough to make a squad of 10!

The only tricky bit was messing around with the arms because they are specifically sculpted for the sisters models. Luckily the shoulder pads hid most of the chopped up bits...

You're converting Sisters with Dark Eldar? What sort of fresh heresy is this?

I also find it somewhat ironic that I'm painting Blood Ravens, who are supposedly Thousand Sons descendant.

I'm sure the Dark Eldar don't mind, it was the only way they stood any chance of getting painted after all!

And I forgot that the Blood Ravens had some stuff going on with the TSons, maybe you could convert a badass librarian for them?

I'm tempted to pick up the new Primaris Librarian for my small Blood Ravens detachment. These guys won't be their own army, just maybe a few squads and a character to get me back into the swing of painting.

Yeah that librarian is one of the few Primaris models I really like, very nice sculpt!

After lots of distractions I finally got round to finishing the first terminator squad. Pretty happy with how they turned out, Tartaros is by far by favourite mark of terminator armour now, I just hope FW releases some new variant for me to play around with at some point!

It doesn't really show in the pictures but I painted a couple of tiny little glyphs on each shoulderpad which quite enjoyed, might do it on some other models as well..

Not sure what is next, I still have almost 160 SM infantry left and over 200 Mechanicus models so I am quite spoilt for choice (and even then I had to forcibly remove myself from the FW webstore earlier). I also need to sculpt some more rubble for the bases as I am running low.

At the moment I am just working on sprucing up an old tactical squad with some new gear and bases but I was browsing some old 40K blogs and found an incredible conversion that I would love to try out.

I still have a couple of engines left over from my dune skimmer conversion but for some reason all of the Imperial Knights are out of stock on the GW store so my wallet gets a break today!

Any knight owners out there? Were I to take most of the carapace and turn it into something else would I still have a decent amount of bits to cobble together a knight also?

Made in ch
Warning From Magnus? Not Listening!

Holy Terra.

Isn't that Maxime Pastourel's ship? Scarabé Intrépide or something like that?

Actually, I don't think you'll be able to build a full knight out of the left over parts, since basically the entire torso gets used for the ship, but you could make an awesome ironstrider-esque "counts as" knight with the left over legs and weapons.

It is indeed! And yeah I figured as much, you are right though, the lack of torso could just be good incentive to convert a really cool Ad Mech walker...

Despite getting sucked into the surprisingly excellent source of conversion ideas on Pintrest of all places, I finally managed to finish patching up and rebasing my tactical squad. Not really much to look at as they are all very ancient models (including my first ever TSons model hiding in the back). That being said, the bigger and better bases plus a headswap for the sergeant really brought them in line with my newer stuff, hope you like them!

Sorry for the teeny tiny pics. It's either that or ones the size of an actual space marine! Dakka's gallery is in need of a big overhaul methinks.. Still, you can click on them as they are huge!

Quite a bit of chopping went into all the models at one point. Here is what they used to look like in the year 2004...

I was doing some more research into replicating the awesome conversion I posted a few days back when I noticed that it used the engines of the Stormfang Gunship but was unsure what I would do with the vehicle if I took them off. Amazingly I stumbled across yet another great conversion using said gunship without the engines. I must make this for my Ad Mech!!

Spoiler:

Oh sure, you'll display at the perfect size. I see how it is..
