Exact dates, no. "Don't expect it anytime approaching soon", yes.

I expect it'll be at least a full year late.

Yeah, you can extrapolate a lot of it from their estimates, though, which I think was probably intentional.

And then you can prob expect to push it back further due to CNY.

Though from the bare minimum they should be able to start shipping US orders around early December if production is finished by their estimated date of 20th September and there isn't any problems with transit, though the product should in theory have left China a few months before CNY (IIRC is roughly February time).

Anytime anyone says "Should Ship In December" well, that rarely happens.

And if isn't done by then, there's a good chance it won't be done by CNY.

Update #42

Remember what we were doing this time last year? We were watching the pledge level get ready to go up by 50% in about 12 hours :-). It's been a year since the Kickstarter ended and 16 months since we started frantic preparations!

I am starting to have some concerns about Panda's assertion that production will be done this month. There has been virtually no forward progress in the last month despite some rather strong words on my part when I discovered they spent a week at Gencon drumming up new business when our project is so unforgivably late (along with many other strong words in the past). I now believe that the problem is not in fact with the plastics factory but with Panda itself. I won't go into detail. Instead I will continue to give them the benefit of the doubt. We have been assigned a new project manager who I quite like and I hope this will be all we need to get things moving on their end. If things don't start looking up very soon, I'll be back here to share more with you fine folks and enlist your aid. I figure our merry band of backers could set the internet on fire if we had to :-)

That is all I intend to say on the matter at this point. I posted this primarily to put Panda on public notice that the time to perform is now. If I were them, I would jump at the opportunity :-)

Thanks guys!

Jim (and John)

Q2 2015 (after CNY 2015) for sure now!

Funded 8/30/14

Was to deliver March 2014.

Now? March 2015 is almost a certainty - at best.

I'm not blaming the guys at Grindhouse - much!

But how much would any Kickstarter campaign raise if they all set realistic dates - because it certainly seems like 2 years is the new 1 year!

Looks like we can add Panda to the list of "Not Sure If Want" if they're the factory behind a campaign...

yeah,
I already avoid CMON like a plague.

and I think Panda should be careful with how they deal with incursion.

Yeah, I wouldn't trust Panda. They're the ones behind Cthulhu Wars being late as well and it seems like that wasn't a great experience dealing with them from the Cthulhu Wars guys perspective.

Also, apparently they're behind Myth and we all know how well that turned out with the missing container/parts

Basically the lesson is just to realize that Chinese manufacturers have every incentive to lie through their teeth when they give you production timetables because once they have your money there isn't much you can do. Most KS projects are one time deals so it isn't like they will be loosing your repeat business, and they can always convince the next guy/gal that "this time it will be different" because the next guy/gal is always so starry eyed.

Hello dear thread - it has been a while!

Creator Jim Bailey on October 1

No problem. I just sent an email requesting another update. I was supposed to have proofs in hand this week per our last conversation. Will let you guys know when I know what the deal is.

Creator Jim Bailey on October 1

Doh! Panda just emailed saying the pre=press proofs are ready and being sent now. Should take about 5 days to get here. I'll shoot some pics when they get in.

Creator Jim Bailey 4 days ago

I'm going to start reporting straight from the source.

From my email to Panda 10/1 following up on a conversation almost 2 weeks prior (for your edification, this previous conversation never touched on the subject of including minis with pre-press):

Jim: "Per our last conversation I should have proofs by now, no?"

Panda: "Hello Jim,
The short answer is yes. We have all of the print material pre-production items ready.
We can send these out to you at any time. The reason I have not sent the print material is that the plastic items were supposed to be done as well. Since it was only two or three days difference I waited to have everything sent together. Of course the plastic pre-production materials are not finished. Would you like me to go ahead and send the print items alone? I apologize for what turned out to be a bad decision.

My email today:

Jim: "Andrew, was the pre-press package sent?"

Response:

"Hello Jim,

Last week started China's "golden week" for their National Day celebration. It is kind of like their 4th of July except that they have a 7 day period where everyone in the country goes on vacation. It will be over tomorrow (Tuesday) evening and the pre-press package will be sent then.

I look forward to getting this to you and hearing your feedback. As soon as I have the tracking number I will forward it to you."

The entire process has been like this, folks. I have no idea what's real, what's not, and where we actually are. At this point, everything they could possibly need has been sent. Just waiting for performance on their end.

Thanks for your continued patience

Jim

Creator Jim Bailey 4 days ago

I forgot, after the first response in the string from them saying they delayed to send minis with paper pre-press I sent this on 10/1:

"Yes, send as soon as possible, please! Thanks".

Creator Jim Bailey about 9 hours ago

Hey gang, maybe some good news, Just got notice that the prepress package (without minis) was sent by super fast courier and is set to arrive in a few hours! Alas, I have a bunch of client meetings this morning at my real job and won't get to unpack until this afternoon. I'll take pics and get an update posted this weekend!

So...

A proper Official Update should hit soon.

And I think we all already knew this but, definitely add PANDA to "The List"!

Yup... That weird WW2 Cthulhu crossover game where the creator admitted that his fulfilment date was hopeful at best was (is) using Panda as well.

Wuzzup! If you've been reading the comments section, you know Panda is in the weeds and very late. I'm bugging them incessantly. After lots of delays we finally got the proofs...but only half of them, and no miniatures. I'm told there were to be two boxes in today's shipment but there was only one. Rather than do a detailed photo deal with long-winded narrative that nobody wants to read, I'm trying a new format: video unboxing of box #1 of proofs!

https://www.dropbox.com/s/0gqpdimaf1xa9d7/IMG_0308.MOV?dl=0

Now, let's see if this works...

Spoiler: It didn't work.

Or maybe it worked too well?

Too much traffic, can't get the video to load.

So next time, as a backer, I'd rather appreciate a detailed photo deal accompanied by a long-winded narrative!

yeah,
So the proofs from Panda have arrived with Jim. He needs a few days to go through them and approve them.
Panda seem to say the plastics are ready and that printing will be a few weeks once approved!...

Now that the Videos are working I think they're a great way to show the state of play.

Video 1: SNAFUbox pre-production of printed material:

Video 2: Incursion box pre-production of printed material:

Video 3: Dice

So the end might be insight...
Starting to get excited again!!

Panic...

Why not make the board separate tiles...?

Curious decision.

That box looks bitchin, though!

If there a better overseas manufacturer than Panda?? I thought they were supposed to be the best for boardgame manufacturers.

Wouldn't be surprised if they have too much work -- Cthulhu Wars is using them as well. Stonemaier Games also uses them for their Eurogame KS.

They are not designed to be laid out in different configurations. If they were separate it would increase set up time as you attempted to figure out how to lay them out, and you also have to deal with print issues where they may not align properly, and play issues where they may slide on the table.

I guess I don't see that as a selling point.

I'm not sure I own any games that are miniature based anymore that don't have individual tiles.

IMO individual tiles are absolutely the way to go.

Was simply curious. It seems to cut down on a lot of replayability options and customization.

yeah,
Incursion uses a system similar to Heroquest.
It simply doesn't need to have tiles.

Each mission uses a area that's in play If you can't get to a area that's blocked off it's not part of the current mission.

Panic...

So after CNY at best, but more likely another 6 months at least. Maybe a year counting shipping times.

First Pictures of Plastics
Comment

What follows are pictures sent from Panda of the plastic trays, miniatures and doors. These are injection molded in the steel production dies and should be the pantone colors we specified. I'm supposed to have these samples in hand on Monday to review up close. Looking good so far. Enjoy.

Incursion base game contents:

SNAFU Expansion contents:

Buckets of Blood/ Extras

Grunt APE. looks like a little flash on the exhaust ports. Will see if they can correct. I'm sure I'll have several comments for them when I get actual samples in hand next week.

Looks pretty solid. I'm trying to figure out what kind of plastic that is..

It looks pretty similar to the stuff used in the Descent board game, maybe?

Some pretty soft details there. Look at the muzzle brake on that walker's right arm/weapon. When I opted for plastic over multipart metals, I was hoping for better than this.

That would require me to receive them first. So it will never happen. Oh, and I'd probably need them to play the game if it theoretically ever arrives.
