"What's more Dark Eldar than a thigh-high boot made of someone else' skin?" absolutely nothing
This is a great update! So much to love here.
I really love your Blightdar, particularly the idea that this is a way to be saved from She Who Thirsts. It might not be an especially pleasant or aesthetically pleasing way, but it is foolproof.
"Greying skin with greenish washes mixed with ruddy-browns?" - sounds good to me. Not sure how you'd do it, but that sounds good.
"I don't quite know what wraithbone would look like as it decays..." Dirty browns with reddish undertones, I think. The Google Image search isn't for the squeamish but it gives you a solid idea.
Alternatively, emphasis the unnatural rebirth aspect - make it extra, horribly pale, give it some fungal-looking regrowths. I saw a fungal-themed Nurgle army around somewhere, which has the kind of thing I mean. Might be too close to your Exodite cyberbone look, though.
I've really gotta get cracking on my own project. Stupid masters.

Thanks a billion guys! It's encouragement like this that keeps my mind chuntering away on new ideas @I_F Good ideas I don't have any Seraphim Sepia but it's about time I picked some up. I've got some Reikland Fleshade, but I could do with something a little lighter. Good idea for looking at fantasy Nurgle stuff for inspiration too @Goblinpaladin Yeah I like the idea that there are multiple ways of saving yourself from Slaanesh...but none of them are necessarily much better than the alternative Saying that, it's not necessarily foolproof. Saving an Eldar soul would be a PITA for a Chaos God as they're Slaanesh's property. Malariel's been saved for a specific purpose. Who's to say what will happen to him and his flock if he achieves his purpose. It's foolproof...provided you're useful I'm also of the opinion that Ynnead's not necessarily a better option either. Selling your soul to a Warp-God of Death doesn't sound like the wisest decision either basically the Eldar are pretty screwed wherever they go... @ph34r The Ynnari prophet? If you've only seen the pic with his guardian Idravain then there's some more here https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/270/702683.page#9206281 If you've seen those I'll have to get some more! @Gummy Unsettling is what I was going for If only I could think of a way to make standard Craftworlders unsettling as well I'd have got everything! The fluff's there if you put the right angle on it to point out how alien they are. Some of the older artwork captures it too, this one being a particular favourite: Now if only I could think how to capture that in a model...

VC Banshee, maybe? With a farseer head? Like this Thats the best photo editing I can do, sorry, but I think it shows some potential. You'd just need to replace the torso with something more eldary, maybe just use a guardian torso. If you decide not to do it I'm stealing it back.

Ooh great call! I like the idea of a Banshee-based Farseer. I'll see what I can come up with
I've had a crack at painting him but I'm really not happy with it. Went for a Biel Tan style white armour which I'm not sold on so I'll have another go at him
The one thing that did work though is I decided on sort of an osteoporosis-style decay for Wraithbone, although I like the idea of looking at teeth for inspiration
That and I've just remembered I've got a pot of Martian Ironearth that I really want to test...

Thanks man yeah this is the first model where I'm actually happy with how the eyes have turned out
I think the trick was using Pallid Wych Flesh for the whites rather than Corax White. I've actually found it does a better job of white than actual white for a lot of things...

The more I learn about painting the more I find that pure white paint is not necessary. Very few things in the world are solid hard white (shine being one of the few exceptions) and so using off-whites seems to be much more useful more often.

Hmm, you're right about the banshee arm. Even some little bangles on the wrist would break it up a bit.
Actually, i could do with some opinions i've finished painting my first Croneworlder, but i'm conflicted about basing. Here he is:
Now i know what would look best for the colours of this model in particular is your usual dark grey stone/datkened metallic ibdustrial sort of thing most 40k models get.
However, one of the main things i've been doing is basing all of my models on the same deserty sandy bases so they all look at home when i come to build scenery. Plus, the narrative they're all in centres around the worlds of Selesti which are all former Eldar Maiden Worlds, ravaged by Nurgle post-Fall so they're all desertified. It's an oddity of the sector that all habitable planets are desert worlds.
What i've done with my Blightdar (sneak peak of thise behind!) is paint them roughly in the same tan colours, but also make it so that where they tread is a little pool of greenish water which helps tie everything together.
I suppose with these guys i could have their presence stain the ground where they tread purple, and the contrast with the tan sand would help the unnatural look, but do you think it would look ok?

First of all, he looks ace dude, good job. As for the basing if I haven't screwed up my lore too bad are crone worlds not where the Eldar collect the gems they use for soul stones? Perhaps make some small coloured crystals for the base to signify its nature as a crone world? Apart from that I do like the idea of using a purple wash to add colour to the base and I think that'd look nice.

Thanks man! That pic isn't actually the greatest as the sunlight has whited out his skintone quite badly. I must say I'm dead pleased with him
Yeah you're bang on with the Croneworlds being where the Eldar get their soulstones from, and adding a couple of little gems onto the base would be a great idea
The issue I had was that if I wanted to tie them into the rest of my Eldar (and human) warbands fighting over this particular bit of space they'd need bases that both fit in with the rest of the desert look, but also look good with a purple/grey palette.
Ooh, how's this for an idea? Where these corrupted Eldar tread the ground is stained a dark unnatural purple, but also sprouts glass-like crystal? I could chop up some excess flying stands and stain them with purple wash to make them translucent

That definitely sounds cool, and not just because I also have crystals. Isn't there a paint range that do a translucent-seeming finish? I remember reading someone used them to get green-tinted glass on their Venoms or somesuch.

As far as the corruption thing goes, the stains on the ground might work best. I'm not entirely sold on the crystal part. I'd probably get too many Necron vibes from them.

Thanks dude! Obviously, I absolutely love space elves but I definitely agree that a lot of their incarnations are a bit too close to 'good guy'. Especially in their recent fluff with how many times they've teamed up wit their Imperium superfriends to beat those dastardly Chaos baddies.
If they'd just play up some more of the grimdarkness I'd be really happy just make it absolutely clear just how alien the Eldar are. For reference, we're more closely related to giant sequoias and the ebola virus than we are to the Eldar.
Less superfriends. More psychopathic aliens who treat humanity as a tool to be wielded for their own benefit.
