"Snatcher" Barin, is fast.
Faster than a Goliaths temper, faster than an Eschers blade. Once he has his prize, no-one can catch him. Not fast enough to flee an Orlocks gun though, but that is why he wears armour.
He does it to keep his father in clean clothes and his mother in wine.
He loves his parents, but sometimes he wonders if he should run from them as well.

Nice one Guardling, love the stories behind the models.

Great backstories! I'd really like to see the ash waste nomads fully painted.

That kit has lots of potential for all sorts of guard and traitor regiments.

Lots of cool work still going on here. The stories are great, am I right in thinking the drunks husband is now a Servitor? Hopefully you’ve got a mini lined up for him if he is!

The Necromunda civilians look great, so many cool ideas and execution. Love the fluff bits!

Thanks!

Olthannon wrote:Nice updates Guardling, the red tones on your CATs is really excellent. Gives them a faintly organic quality which is cool.

I love those little CAT models, I keep thinking I should get some for my Ad Mech. I have some plans for another techpriest and I like the idea of a swarm of little robots.

Haha I'm tempted to do the same, they are supposed to be the Admech equivalent of a school science project ...
osjclatchford wrote:these civvies are outstanding! a true representation of just how wacko the imperium's "regular" guys are...

some theft-worthy ideas here methinks

Steal away, I'm unlikely to use them so someone should!

I agree, you could probably mix in a few bits from the cultists or traitor guard...

Haha, no, but that's actually a better idea than what I was hinting at.
There are a few strands between some characters and about half of them are in the same web

+++

Anyways, as you may of noticed I picked up the Into The Dark Kill Team box, mainly for the terrain, then for the Navy Breachers and then the CAT...
Oh and Kroot too, just to add to my Tau:

Got some base layers on and a wash, built them as regular warriors to fit into 40k (at least until tau get Kroot shotties).
Heads are compatible old Kroot, and so are some of the arms, so there are a few old bits on my new Kroot.
For some reason I thought that the Hounds seemed a bit large so I finished them up and took a comparison photo:

Woof they're a bit small, OG hound looks like they could swallow the new dogs whole...

+++

So now I've got these new Navy Breachers I thought I should get started making:

...and started some Palatine Enforcers...
Decided that they needed some more Imperial looking weapons...
Got a Subjugator with a bolter and shield on the way...
Also gave a guy a coat, gonna be the watch captain or something:

Gotta figure out heads, looking at the Scion beret heads I have, not a fan of their helmets, they look to much like primaris wannabes

+++

See you next time

Love these stories and the fact that he has extra armor on his back too!

Nice work on the Into the Dark stuff, I guess those Kroot Hounds as sneakier for being inside the ship?

Anyhow quick update:
I finished my Kroot on time for Octobers unit of the month but haven't had time to get any decent pictures:

Tirm has a tool, he has had it for a long time, he looks after it, oils it, listens to the noises it makes as he uses it.
He knows the noise it makes when he uses it on a man.
His tool keeps him paid.

+++
Quick behind the scenes:

Tirm originally had an outcast body, but I had rediscovered some GSC models that felt more right for his model.
+++
This is probably the last civilian model for a little while, I can't get anything I'm happy with for The Free Man so I'm going to scrap him and start fresh.
This does mean I have a couple of Outcast bodies left over for some new characters, as well as my recently discovered GSC miners...

Back to being busy!
Got me some Kill Team Kroot photos ready:
(See if you can spot the original Kroot parts haha)

Very quick paint job, to get them good enough, my hands have not been kind to me lately...

Also took a spare arm from the new Kroot to add to my old Standard Bearer who was missing an arm:

Yay! Now need to get a wiggle on with Novembers unit...

+++

So been picking at some new conversions, seeing as I have all these outcast arms free and a few empire militia bits lying around:

A couple are some really old models I made with a plan to use them as Gue'La insurgents for my Tau army...
Whether they were allies or enemies, nobody knows...
Also got this guy:

Calling him Fat Petr for now, the torso is an old attempt at green stuffing that looks alright to me..

+++

While we're on the topic of Necromunda, I got some enforcers basecoated, as well as a new Subjugator with a Delaque Webber and shield combo:

Not sure about him, might put the Webber on a regular Enforcer and give him something less flimsy...

+++

Because I can't have only one active project at a time, I started working on my version of something I saw someone else do on dakka (forgotten who, sorry)
Anyways they made a like a 40k version of a building made of connecting Chacon huts, I thought I'd have a go...
The idea:

What I've got so far:

+++

Lastly, the thing I'm doing at the time of writing:

Picked up a can of GW White Scar and Army Painters Fur Brown from my FLGS.
I can tell you that one rattle can is not enough for all the ITTD terrain.
Yes I know they're still on the sprues, probably going to do most of the painting on the sprues too...

See you space cowboy!

Thanks! Steal away, its what I did!

Speaking of the container, got some more bits on it...
Outside:

Inside:

The roof will be removable when finished so I can access the inside, so I'm arranging bits to be seen from above...

+++
Also painted up my test pieces for the new Kill Team terrain, going for an off white based on the interior of some of the warships I work on:

Started with a base of white spray paint then picked out some electrical boxes with celestial grey.
Next was a wash that I'd made from near empty pots of contrast paints and washes, came out very close to Agrax.
I followed that up with a dry brush of Corvax White and then picked all the cables out with Black Templar contrast and the ribbed ones with Leadbelcher.
Skulls are skull, lights use various contrast paints and then I dabbed some bits with dirty down rust...

+++

Also got some Ash Wastes Nomads on the go, but fell asleep before I could take a picture of them, I may be getting old...
Should finish them this week for my unit of the month...
See you next time!

Thanks all!
Did a little more on the interior:

Picked up one of those tentacle rollers recently so had bit of a play with it.
I'm a bit too impatient to wait for the GS to harden a bit, but I'm starting to get the hang of it...

+++

Anyways onto unit of the month:

Got me some Ash Wasters painted up.
Been hard doing these guys due to being plagued with hand cramps but got them to a point when I'm happy with them:

Got my boss with a bolt pistol from and OG plastic Goliath and thier gunslinger partner got an extra pistol from the bug rider sprue

The sharpshooters, one has a gun from a bug rider, the othe has what appears to be an air rifle from the Underhive Market set

The AT team, spotter gets some binocs and a slung rifle again from the bugs

And finally some basic boys...

+++

Lastly made this little guy:

There was a goblin like familiar on the Frostgrave Wizard sprue that I've been using for my civilians arms, so I cut his head off and used a winged skull decoration from the old cities of terrain...

The Malignant Cherub is suitably nightmare-inducing, well done. The Ash-wasters are terrific- that tan/brown color for their outer wraps is perfect. Thy come off looking like much more belligerent and formidable Jawas with the glowing eyes.

I never would have thought I'd need a tentacle roller for greenstuff, but you've showed me I was wrong- those armored conduits are a great trick! Now I must go buy one and it's your fault.

Very enjoyable read tonight.

Thanks, the roller is great, but I need some more practice with it, I find it hard to get an even roll...

Anyways onto this week's update:
Ash Wastes Skitarii:

Rumors of an intact portable void shield generator draw the Mechanicus out into the Ash Wastes
Despite thier small unit size, the Archeotech Recovery and Survey Expedition are well programmed with appropriate combat litanies.

Took a while to get to finish painting these guys, so if you haven't seen them before, they're Orlock bodies with Skitarii arms, heads and back packs...
Pretty simple to do except the shoulder pads need cutting down to make room for the arms which is where the models are ugliest.
The Kataphron has a magnet in its torso so that I can swap it out for the Dune Riders stubber servitor as well as a spare set of Ambit legs that need to finish...

See you next time!

Anyways onto what I've been up to:
It been hard to stay motivated, I find Christmas a pretty stressful period so I have been mostly hiding in a corner playing video games instead of painting...
But I have done a few bits over the past few weeks that I've forgotten to post.
First up:

Tenish years ago I made these guys in my first attempt at civilians.
They were cool for a hot minute and then I decided that I didn't like them so I dismantled them for parts
So recently I was playing with GSC bodies:

Tirm has some friends... Although if you ask them, they'd say that they're just coworkers, especially since Pula had his, uh, accident...

+++

Also been making some juvies:

A couple of innocents playing ball

A less innocent playing hard ball...

Also got some paint on some actual outcasts:

Not quite finished yet, need to do their bases, and some more of them before I do some in situ photos

+++

Lastly, I had a SoB repenter converted with some Death Maiden claws and was in spired to replace her head with a Blackstone Fortress Negavolt Cultists:

Calling her Euryale, for obvious reasons, thinks she needs some fluff, but I know I'm going to forget about it in a few days...

Some great posts as usual Guardling. That negavolt cultist head in the last one is inspired. Loving the ad-mech/orlocks and ash wastes guys, they’re super cool. The ittd bulkhead test looks good, certainly looks like the off-white painted lagging on warships to me, probably with cables in unexpected places hiding behind it too!
